“Great for a last-minute trip.”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

Holidayed with Grand Hotel, Hurghada a few months ago and the location itself is profound - ideally situated around 15 minutes away from Hurghada International and subsequently boasts a short transfer time.

My partner booked this trip as a last minute surprise as I had never visited Egypt before and all was in order if you are not expecting a five-star service (which is reflected in the price of a holiday here) - below are a few noted points:

Staff - majority of which are friendly and happy to help with the exception of the anomic reluctant individual.

Food - Mediocre and consistent throughout the stay with an unvaried selection.

Internet Connectivity - Absent in many places, there was a slow and intermittent reception in a small room located close to the toilet areas.

Beverages - a fine local brew (Luxor), excellent alcoholic measures. The one abundant fault and failure is the unavailability of bottled water prior to 10:00.

Location - Excellently positioned close to Hurghada's hustle and bustle of the market stalls and shops.

Overall

I would recommend the Grand Hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing break with low expectations and a prescriptive budget.

Have just retuned from The Grand yes the rooms are dated but are totally functional and spotless clean . All the staff in the hotel go out of their way to be helpful and pleasent . The food is basic but plentiful and the soups are really lovely . We went with Red Sea and our rep Andrew was great always available and went out of his way to ensure we all had a good holiday . Also waiter sevice on beach was great would like to say a big Thankyou to Mohammed the beach waiter ( had glasses with white arms ) who made every one feel special by knowing what we liked to drink and keeping us supplied . This is not the most luxurious hotel but if you are looking for a clean friendly hotel with well kept gardens public places and a lovely beach this hotel fits the bill .

Room Tip: This hotel has lots of space if you like to be on top of every thing choose rooms up too 500 . Rooms...

Rooms are very basic and dated, food was always cold no matter what time you went into eat, entertainment was typical holiday tripe !! The only plus points are the location of the hotel and the well kept gardens and the majority of the staff going out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Beware if you venture out of the hotel as you will get hassled big time by the street vendors and shopkeepers and beware of child 'sellers' ...they are just pickpockets at work!!!!

If you want a hotel which is cheap, with food which is freezing cold, under cooked and raw… with the poorest customer service and worst version of all inclusive than make a visit to the Grand in Hurghada… in fact the irony is that there is absolutely nothing grand about the whole place. Its cheap, tacky and you will seriously regret not listening to the majority on trip advisor if you go ahead and book this. For those who have given this more than 2 for a rating… honestly i would love to see where you guys live (or maybe not).

Keep away - far far away...

Room Tip: Just keep away

Worst ever hotel food was awful along with service. Ur better off paying a bit extra for a 4/5* hotel like the grand siva. Location was great, room service for towels dnt bother will never come and drinks at lunch/supper times worst service ever, if uve got a budget this place is ideal but don't get it hopes up to high, had to have a few days away at al qesar at the raddison blu omg what a place worth every penny and service was brilliant will def visit the raddison blu again. Stay away from the grand hotel

Pros
Good location on the main road for shopping and bazaar etc
Staff try there best.

Cons
Really poor or no service.
Packed hotel with rush.
Food is really bad and cold this didnt change for the duration of our stay.
No wifi except in billard room which is really slow.

Overall would not recommend this hotel if you are after a quiet holiday and one that means you don't have to constantly go out your way to try and put things right. Good if you are looking for something like a B&b in bkackpool with no stars.

I visited here with a friend for my birthday last July. All we wanted was to chill out, eat and drink and that's all we did! The service from the guy's on the beach (particularly Tarhar) was second to none and they were so friendly. You obviously have people come round trying to sell you spa treatments, tattoo's etc but a simple 'no thank you' and they'll leave you alone! We even got to know some of them so they'd stop for a chat rather than try to sell us things. Be careful if you get offered fruit - this is not included in your all inclusive although they might say it is until they bring you an invoice!

The men that take your bags to your room do request tips and walk at the speed of light with you behind but you can act a bit thick and just say 'yeah cheers mate' and they don't really cause too much of a fuss even if it is a bit awkward! When we first arrived we had a room with a double bed and we asked to move. We were moved and settled into our new room within 20 minutes.

The food was lush and even though the outside restaurant does get quite busy it is a lovely setting. My friend is a vegetarian and didn’t struggle with anything to eat at all throughout our trip. The hotel evening entertainment was also brilliant. We had a brilliant time and loved every second, they made a real fuss of me on my birthday which was a lovely surprise.

My friend and I are planning to go back in April!! Thank you to all the staff at Grand Hotel!! :) x

Room Tip: Rooms by the main pool are close to everything so try to request this. We were in room 419 and could...
