Just got back from Hurghada. Had enough of the grey sky in England and booked a last minute holiday. Since upon arrival the staff did their best. It was not an English hotel, so if you want to learn Russian, German, Italian or Chinese, this is your place! :)
The private beach was amazing and clean. Not only the staff but the guests knew their manner which was not always the case with other hotels as I learned during my excursions.
Diving, snorkling, submarine, panorama boat... everything was arranged easily at the Reception. The staff was keen to do their best and provide an excellent customer service.
The hotel itself is a 3* but was as clean and tidy as it could be! Food was very tasty, but the variety or its lack of was a bit let down.
The staff spoke several languages and have been with the hotel for number of years, which was assuring.
When one of my excursions booked by the travel agent went wrong, they did everything to make it up for me and arrange the dolphin swim with another Partner. They were just amazing.
They found me a hotel which had kayaks as I wanted to do sea-kayaking on the Red Sea. Warned me and the other guests about what to encounter with in the town.
Staff. Amazing, helpful and very eager
Food. Simple, very tasty and freshly made - lack of variety though
Internet. Well, it`s speed was a bit slower compared to my standard.
Room. Spacious, clean and comfortable.
Location. Close to the town centre (walking distance at daytime, EGL 15 in the evening)
Beach. The most beautiful blue I have ever seen. Clean and tidy, well looked after.

I would recommend it to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the sunshine! With bearing in mind that now the weather turns a bit windy, hence next year I will be back probably in early October! :)

Room Tip: I had a seaside balcony / terrace room in a separate building which is good for a family, but I woul...

Stayed here some time ago for 2 weeks, the hotel has a small but nice beach, its located a 10 minute walk away from the Memsha area of Hurghada where you can find a variety of Shops,Bars,Restaurants and Hotels. The rooms were clean and a good size. Our room overlooked the hotel Beach and Gardens. We stayed bed and breakfast and there was a good variety of hot and cold foods available at the buffet. The Safir also has an annex across the road from the main building which I believe is newer then the hotel. Also located a 5 minute car ride away from the hustle and bustle of Sekalla. You can walk in any direction from the front of the Safir and you will come to various cafes, bars and beaches.
Even though its not the most centrally located hotel it is certainly worth considering on your next stay in Hurghada,We found the staff very helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Beach or Gardens.

As per the title, serious mistakes made by Safir Hotel Hurghada, UK agency On the Beach and Eygpt's Hotels 4 U left myself, my partner and our two year old son stranded without accommodation in Egypt during a national festival that meant all rooms were booked up across the city.

The holiday was booked through On The Beach in the UK using Hotels For You.
When we arrived at the hotel around 6.30pm, we were told by Safir Hotel that we didn’t have a room – although we showed the manager our hotel booking, he said that we didn’t have a room booked for us. On questioning him further, he said that Hotels For You had cancelled the booking and showed us a cancellation sheet. He was adamant that there was no room for us to stay because of Eid.

We then spent over four hours whilst sitting in a café on the phone to On The Beach, who were resolute that the booking had been made. They said that the cancellation had happened as Hotels For You had mistakenly booked for three adults in the first place but had then realised their mistake, sent through the cancellation (which is what the hotel manager had shown us) and immediately rebooked for two adults and one child. They were adamant that the booking had eventually been correctly made and accepted by Safir Hurghada but the manager kept telling us that no booking had been accepted.

After four hours of repeat phone calls to the UK (which have totalled up to £110.39) we were told to find our own accommodation as they could find not alternatives – we were told that On the Beach would pay the bill for the mobile calls and accommodation.

We searched and searched whilst driving round in a taxi but could find no rooms available due to Eid. Just before midnight we eventually managed to find one room available in the Marriott (which cost us a total of £114.65). However they only had the room available for one night.

The next day we had to depart from the Marriott as they had no more space and we had to spend the whole day trying to search hotels again for accommodation – as per the day before, everywhere was full due to Eid. We also again spent hours on the phone to On the Beach, which was still promising to sort out the problem and pay for our costs.

Eventually around 5-6pm the next day, the manager of Safir Hurghada somehow managed to find a vacant room (he said there had been a cancellation at 3pm) and booked us in, where we spent the rest of our holiday.

We did ask the manager before we left to provide us with proof that no repeat booking for two adults and one child had been accepted on our behalf – he suddenly decided not to do so.

We have been trying to chase On The Beach in the UK and Hotels For You in Egypt since then for recompense of the above bills for one night’s accommodation at the Marriott and all the phone calls we had to make to the UK to sort out our lack of accommodation – this comes to £225.04. However, both On The Beach and Hotels For You are now refusing to pay the bill.

What is also bad is that I’ve also written to the Egypt and head office addresses for the Safir hotel chain and have heard nothing back.

We ended up getting six days accommodation out of the seven we paid for but were appalled at the place - the staff would try to finish breakfast before it was meant to close and would refuse to clear tables if you walked in 15 minutes before it was due to finish. The pool was dirty. The food itself was appalling and the management were incredibly rude to us, despite having left us without accommodation for one night.

We are regular visitors to Egypt and have now discovered the joys of booking through Qwerty Travel and using the Steignerberger Al Dau club hotel in Hurghada which is cheaper than the Safir and miles better.

Room Tip: Don't go to this hotel if you want a good room!

Back from two weeks in the sun at The Safir, I will give as truthful a review as I can.

Good Bits:

Location is excellent, 25 mins walk or 5 min taxi from town, there is a respectable path all the way and plenty of outlets to stop off, there are however several large holes and some rubbish so make sure you look were your walking.
Pool is loverly and clean with a stunning view to the private beach, which is clean and well looked after.plenty of sunbeds on both and clean towels for guests every day.
Breakfast is a good selection (No Brits your not going to get full English YOUR IN EGYPT!)..Pool bar food is really good, and swift service. Reception has safes which are free to use and room service is adequate.
Staff where so friendly and helpful, from the cleaner to the manager we had 5* service in what I would be honest and say was a 3* hotel

Bad Bits:

The rooms are def a bit tired and in need of an upgrade, but at the end of the day you only sleep and shower in them. No problems with bugs or noise and beds were very comforable. Air con worked fine, shower was a struggle at times as water pressure was not great (but part of the fun of being in a Foriegn land)

There are the usual hassles from shop and Bar owners but that is the norm, a polite no thank you normally suffices, if it really bothers you then get a Taxi (£1 into Town or £1.50 to the Marina

Remember at all times you have chosen to come to Egypt a developing nation. Egytians are curious and love to find out about you and your country, you may find this attention a small hassle but it is only their keeness to learn.

All in all I think you have to remember were you are and except that standards differ, if you want English Food, Carling Beer and Karaoke then go to Spain !!

Room Tip: Get a Sea View room

We returned yesterday from 2 week stay in The Hotel Safir in Hurghada, the hotel itself was amazing, fantastic views and in a great location, 15-20 minutes walk to the shops and 25 minutes walk to the Marina where there are a huge number of modern restaurants in bars.

The staff in the hotel were so friendly and helpful, whatever we asked for they were more than happy to assist, the pool bar food was lovely with a lot of choice and they were happy to cook food which was not on the menu, also the room service food was very nice and quick.

Breakfast there were pastries, breads, cheeses, pancakes, french toast, ham's, fruit and a chef cooking egg's, what more do you want and expect your in egypt.

The pool was really lovely and is right next to the sea, it has its own private beach which is fab for snorkeling, (you can find Nemo).

There is Wi-Fi available is all the rooms you just need to get a card from reception. Attached to the hotel in a Beauty Salon where you can have massages, pedicures haircuts etc etc

Now the only let down of the hotel are the rooms, they are clean with fresh sheets and towels everyday, they have T.V's which show movies all day and night (in English), balcony's overlooking the sea (we were on the 2nd Floor), had no problems with bugs / flies or any other creepy crawleys , however the rooms were just tired.

There were a few Egyptians and Russians in the hotel and the only Brits were me my partner and another English lady, we had no problems and everyone was very friendly and polite.

We would definitely go back and stay again.

Room Tip: Email and ask for a Sea View Room, don't get put across the road.

We stayed at this hotel for two weeks on B&B, it’s far from being the best hotel in Hurghada. There were too many Arabic tourists and this isn’t ideal as loads of them never seen a tourist and on one occasion an old lady started touching my partners hair and kept holding her hands because she never seen it before.
Lets start with the position as this is the best thing this hotel has to offer. It is about 5 min from the Hurghada city centre and just far enough to have no bother of the traffic or noise. The hotel is more a 3*, this is because of the level of service, food, rooms and overall feel. A taxi should be about £1 or E10
Rooms:
We were on the second floor of the main building. The room had 2 single beds which kept moving apart. The decoration was green and very outdated decoration to my opinion. The view was good through the balcony but it has trees overhanging and loads of flying ants coming through to the room as soon as the sun goes down, this was extremely irritating as nothing helped (even the guys spraying). The door leading to the balcony also lets through bugs as there is a small gap and one day we had a massive cockroach in the room. We immediately requested to be moved and went to the 3rd floor which solved all the bug problems.
Beach
The hotel has a private beach which is very nice and you can even find a variety of fish there.
Staff:
Hotel staff is ok, the security guards are ok too but kept hinting to give them more money after doing it once. The room cleaners were given a 20 note which made them make shapes out of the towels but they stopped after doing after two days. Karim (reception) Samir (everything) were very nice and helpful, the security guards are ok too. The management isn’t bad but the problem here is that most staff only have eyes for western females and come across very creepy. The worst of them all is the bar/sandbar manager who is very aggressive on selling drinks/food and not polite at all.
Entertainment:
In two weeks time we had entertainment only once and the bar is the worst as the management doesn’t do anything to attract people. This meant that most of the time the bar was closed or there was nobody there apart from the odd one asking for bottled water. Speaking about the water it is 10pound in the hotel and only 1 or 2 at the shops.
Restaurant:
We stayed on a B&B basis and tbh this wasn’t much either because everyday it was eggs, breads, beans, pancakes which made me boke and some disgusting looking veg .Always go for the eggs because they make it in front of you.

Overall 5.5/10

Room Tip: ask for the third floor

With a super view of the Red Sea from the private beach of the Safir Hotel, it is ideal for chilling out and relaxing. A smallish clean hotel with caring staff and food to suit most tastes with a good variety and choice. Situated between 2 areas of Hurghada it is well placed for a nice walk to either with a good view of the Red Sea on the way. i am sure you will wish to keep visiting this hotel, as I do.
