All in all a very good hotel. The greeting was excellent and cases taken to our room, the self controlled air conditioned room was large and cleaned daily, with a mini bar which was replenished with water everyday and soft drinks that were also free but would cost you to refill per week. The safe in the room is at no extra cost, we had a nice large double bed though the matress was a bit thin. Balcony overlooked one of the pools, from what we could see all the rooms overlooked a pool and/or the beach. And for the ladies an hairdryer in the bathroom. No tea/coffee making facilities.
The pool that we overlooked was very cold but then it is there winter and another of the pools is heated and so warm it's almost like getting into bathwater. Full use of the adjoining hotel "Mamlouk" is available which then gives you a choice of 2 buffet restaurants and 4 A la carte restaurants, 2 of which require booking in advance. We found the A la carte restaurants excellent, Italian. Mexican, Asian & Oriental. The buffet (main) restaurant was very good the first week but by the 2nd week was getting a bit busier and usually found it hard to get a cup, plate, or dish and sometimes had to wait for food to be put out, but even that was nothing compared to trying to get to the fruit in particular strawberries before it all vanished before our eyes to the ignorant, impolite, gluttonous Russians. If you want cakes or fruit you need to do what the russians do, get them before anything else, but then of course eyes being bigger than their bellies it was often left laying on the tables as they left. Even the staff and locals don't like the Russians, but just try and ignore them and you'll have a fine time.
The staff are (except for 1 member (buffet restaurant)) very polite and helpful. Once again as the hotel gets more into the season and busy you tend to wait longer for tea & coffee at breakfast, and alcohol in the bars but this is also due to the laidback attitude of the Egyptian people. If you have a teenage daughter with you keep your eyes on her we were offered 3000 camels for ours (tempting!). but seriously they do like to touch.
We went to the entertainment just the once it was "Dance around the world" lasted 30 minutes and saved us half hour every night for the rest of our holiday as we didn't bother going back.
We would definitely go back to this hotel.

Me and my boyfriend visited this fabulous hotel in march. I read some of the negative reviews on here and after visiting realised that they were very, very wrong. The staff were really friendly and always cheery but when you told them that you were english they went that extra mile and nothing at all was too much trouble. This is because the hotel is very popular with Russians who are very rude not only to the staff but to fellow holiday makers. There was no fighting for sunbeds either at the pool or on the beach. The food differed from what we british call the norm but nevertheless there was always something nice to satisfy. The Italian restaurant was excellent. Great service and great food. The buffet restaurant changes the food theme every night so there is always goin to be something to suit.
The one fantastic part of booking into this hotel is that you have full access to all the facilities to its sister hotel (The Mamlouk Palace) which is joined right next door, which means double the pools, double the restaurants and double the bars.
The only one negative which has no bearing on the hotel are the russians, but we found them quite amusing as they are so rude and that they take every piece of fruit that isnt nailed down so if you want a piece of fruit get there at 6.30pm on the dot.
We would definatley return.

My husband, myself and young son stayed at this hotel for the half term holiday. All I can say is it was extremely relaxing. When you arrive at the hotel you are taken to your room and the luggage follows on after. We had a really nice spacious room overlooking the pool. My son absolutely loved the pool slide which was manned all the time by life-guards. We also spent a lot of time on the beach. The middle of the beach can be quite noisy but only because of the animation team, there is actually a quiet area at the far end of the beach. The camel on the beach is very cute! And there were plenty of beds not only on the beach but also around the 3 swimming pools. No getting up early to reserve beds!!! You also get your pool/beach towels provided which can be changed on a daily basis. If you have young children there is a really good playarea on the beach. The food was excellent, the staff are extremely polite and friendly and really went out of their way to provide a very good service. The only minus side to our holiday was the amount of Russian people in the hotel. This is ok, but they are extremely rude, especially towards the staff. However I would not let this put anyone off going to stay at this hotel. I would defiinately go back but maybe for 2 weeks next time and explore Egypt a bit more. It was on the whole a very relaxing and enjoyable week.

I too was a little worried after reading some of the reviews, but found this hotel to be spot on for cleanliness, friendly staff and excellent facilities.

We were asked on one occassion for a tip, but ignored it and tipped when we felt we wanted too.
The Beach was clean, plenty of Sun loungers, a little noisy in the middle due to the animation team doing their activities, but fine if you moved out to either side.

The food was excellent, I personally preferred the Italian, Wine was also very good, My husband did find out in the 2nd week that you could get Campari at our pool bar, Sobhy and Samir at the Pool bar are friently, attentive and geniune.

We are already looking to book this hotel again for next year.

fab hol! i was a little put off by some of the comments, but need not have worried. we were well looked after from start to finish. the staff were polite & eager to please.. no one hung around for tips. They circulate providing drinks in the restaurants and lobby bars, no having to wait ages to be served. the local spirits are a bit ropey, but you can get imported drinks in the lobby bars, just ask! i found the local rose wine very pleasant, the beer was fine too,not weak as some have said. You get full use of the marmalok hotel ajoining the garden beach, so a choice of 2 buffets & 4 restaurants. we liked the oriental best & no need to book! the asian & tex mex can be booked by going to the tex mex @ midday. you just pick up a ticket and wait to be called.. no problem! loads of beach/pool bars for daytime. the italian does a fine pizza! planes overhead but not disruptive, as to the fumes on the beach, just move! there is loads of room! we didn't see a single cockroach (maybe they were all in the last reviewers room!) we asked for a quiet room and had no problems, just a little noisy b4 midnight on the last night.. go and have a great time!

This is NOT a five star Hotel. The Staff are out for all they can get from you but provide a very average service. Our suitcases were badly scratched because they throw them onto an open truck which races round the gardens throwing them about in the back. They then expect a tip - no way. There were cockroaches in the food bowls. We reported this to the Chef and he said 'oh that's only an Egyptian beatle'. We then told Reception but they did nothing. My Wife and I both had upset stomachs all week. The brochure does not mention the planes landing overhead all day and they start at 0430 in the morning nor did they mention the noisy disco from the Sunrise Hotel down the road which went on till 0300 in the morning. The shopkeepers in the Sunrise Mall over the road pester you as do the Hotel Shop keepers. Some Waiters completely ignores you if you are English. The Asian restuarant will not let you in unless you book in advance even though they are half empty. There's supposed to be a quiet area on the beach but there's music on all the time. There's a smell of diesel from the boats taking off from the beach. The fish are noticeable by their absence, unlike Sharm el Sheik. People are smoking in the Bars. There was a burning smell all night long from rubbish near the hills behind the Hotel. Apart from the sun and temperature, 26 degrees, we were very unimpressed. Thomas Cook made a note that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary but nothing happened.

The sunrise garden Beach is exeptionally good value for money. We only had a week there there but the service was fantastic, the staff could not do enough for you.

The room was of a good standard and cleaned very well. The buffet was very well organised, they always ensured all options were available. There was a very good choice in the buffet, the Europens tend to alle at at around 7.15pm so either go earlier or after eight!!! Excellent choice of salad bar, hot dishes etc. Service of the waiters, cleaning your table, wine etc very good.

The grounds are very well kept. There is a noisy pool and a quieter pool with a snack bar, food good there also!! The waiters and bar man at the pool bat are great.

The loby bar is good, there is also a little English pub with a lovely waiter Michael. People have said the drinks were not good, I had cocktails, brandy, gin and vodka all seemed fine to me!!!

Just be aware it is windy in the winter, ensure you have a few warm cloths for early morning and late afternoons, the sun goes down at 4pm in Dec and it gets chilly!

We had avery good value for money holiday and would go back, it was an all round good holiday.
