We stayed at soma bay palm royale 2013 June. It was incredibly hot but we had a great time there as a family. Sea lovely and warm. Hotel staff brilliant and helpful.
Unfortunately we got sick on the last few days with the bug. But its generally unavoidable in Egypt as its in the air.
The food and choice of restaurants were lovely. The Asian cuisine restaurant was our favourite. The buffet however was more catered for the European market.

This was my first visit to Soma, having been to El Gouna several times. Soma Bay is beautiful, and Palm Royale is considered by some to be the best hotel. It is fantastic - the staff are incredibly hard-working, and nothing is too much trouble. The facilities are great too: a choice of really good restaurants (Greek, Lebanese, Italian, Asian, and a café/buffet) and several bars and a disco. The restaurants served the best food I've had in Egypt. Relax in the lobby bar before dinner, listen to the wonderful piano music played by Ouliana, and enjoy the friendly service. My room, too, was great - a private balcony overlooking the bay. Excellent all-rounder.

We have had such a great time in this hotel!! It is not seldom when a hotel surpasses your expectations...but in this case Palm Royale did it for us.....I mean we anticipated pretty much that it is a great hotel judging from all other reviews we went through before booking...but when you actually spend you time there.... Wow!! Excellent!! The facilities, service, food, outdoors, cleanliness....match any other 5 star hotel we have been to in Europe, Middle East or Asia! And that already says a lot considering it is Egypt we are now talking about.....
The biggest asset of this hotel is the employees throughout; they genuinely perform their duties and give a real feel of care and concern when it comes to taking care of the clients. They are such real gems...from the room attendant to the server in the restaurant to the gardener or the tennis instructor... Each one is conducting his responsibilities in such genuine manner, truly caring and attending to each guest... this is truly seldom to encounter in such unity....
We absolutely adored this place and despite the fact that we hardly ever considering returning to the same place... well we are already looking for the next dates available to book!!! Strongly recommend to all.....

Our second visit this year to this fantastic hotel and, if anything ,better than the first. The staff were all excellent from the front office(thank you both Mr Kannan and Walid Ahmed) to all the bar staff especially Hanni and team who greeted us like long lost friends.A big thank you to Lisiel and Nash in the various restaurants, especially La Terrace where the service was superb. We will be back!

Room Tip: Beachfront rooms give access to La Terrace restaurant for breakfast and free wi-fi.

Spent a week there from 29th November and from the moment we walked in until the moment we left it was fabulous.Every member of the staff from Stephanka in guest relations to Usef in the Piano bar and all of the catering managers for each of the restaurants were absolutely fantastic. We have been to quite a few hotels in Egypt but never have we come across such genuine helpful and caring people the general manager who we met at a cocktail reception is always present and approachable.
We upgraded to a beach front room to get the unlimited wifi ( one of the few negatives no free wifi) and it came with exclusive breakfast facilities at the terrace room fabulous and even had pork bacon never seen before in Egypt.
The room was lovely and spacious, ac was a bit dodgy fantastic view of the beach. The beach was brilliant, lovely sand and gentle slope into the water, the only down side to that was no reef to snorkel on.However the on site dive school was superb and Anna who taught my girlfriend PADI scuba diver course was brilliant.
The restaurants especially the Asian were all great, the Italian was great and run by a fabulous manager as was the Greek.
Would have no hesitation at all in going back or recommending to all family and friends.

Well done to all the staff from the top to the bottom.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a beach room but do ask for mattress toppers beds are hard.
