We had a family holiday last year for two weeks from the 31st August to the 14th Sep 2012 and I was on crutches and we had a great time and the staff were great. We had a seaview room 1118 I think it was and i managed to walk around with y crutches. Food was great as it was such a veriety. We liked it so much that we have booked to come back on for two weeks between 30th August and 13th September and hope to be looked after as well as we where last year. The manager was very friendly and helpful. This is the second review that i have added and I would recommend this hotel. We met two lots of English Couples and they were lovely, Yes thye Russians but you will get this in Egypt. Looking forward to seeing Sami at the windsurfing centre. And looking forward to chilling out and having a great room as it is our second year running. See you all soon from Denise

Have just returned from 2 weeks all incl at the Coral Beach hotel. The staff are wonderful and helpful but not enough of them. Our room was cleaned everyday no matter what time we left the room we always returned to a clean tidy room. Some of the rrom maybe a long way from the main hotel which may be a problem if like me you have trouble walking. Our room was changed without fuss the following day. The Coral Beach is the last hotel on the strip furthest away from Hurgharda they do do a shuttle bus but it is small and only goes twice a day and gets booked quickly going into Hurgharda itself (about 30 min drive) the taxis are reasonably priced though and the taxi desk manager is very helpful (its about £13 for return taxi) The resort was very busy when we arrived with not many English as it wasnt school holidays for the English kids but there were lots of Russian and Eastern Europeans and Egyptians with lots of Children. The restaurant was big and food was good there was always something you could find to eat but very chaotic and wow some of the people are so rude and I think its only the British that believe in queueing!! People filling bags with food bread, and fruit and cakes was mind boggling (as well as unhygienic in those temperatures!) The rooms are lovely, clean and spacious with a fridge and hairdryer in every room and a bottle (1l) delivered everyday. The main pool can get really busy but the quiet pool and the beach never seemed to be crowded and the pool staff are so helpful. If you are in a wheelchair some of the slopes are difficult to manage and make sure you ask for a room with a ramp as they do have these. The worst things and they werent diabolical just could do with improving was the queues in the restaurant and the lack of toilet facilities around the hotel itself. if you are in the restaurant you have to come out and back into main hotel to use the toilet there and there are only 2 cubicles and very very hot!! They could do with some ventilation and air fresheners not really very pleasant. They are building new toilets by the beach though. I would say all in all a nice place to stay, views and facilities are brilliant and the staff helpful and pleasant. More a family hotel in my opinion. Thanks to all the staff xx

we just returned yesterday from 2 weeks at the coral beach rotana resort. we had a lovely relaxing holiday , spent most of our days at the beach, nights on the terrace with a drink or two, and took in a trip on the seascope sub, along with 2 superb trips with Dive Point for snorkelling on nearby islands. however, we think it only fair to give a true review to this hotel as it has good and bad points.

firstly the good points

check in was smooth, we travelled with thomas cooks flexitrips, its ok, transfers were with blue sky and they are great but they took our hotel voucher when they took our transfer voucher, cant be avoided as its all printed on the same sheet. reception though were great at sorting it out for us and then informed us that they were upgrading us from a double room to a suite at no extra charge !!

rooms . what can we say , other than superb. we had a massive suite, long hallway into it, kitchen area off to the right, no appliances but a sink and lots of storage units, leading onto the lounge area with sofa , two armchairs , large coffee table and large low unit. patio doors leading out onto terrace area. the bedroom was through another door to the left of the lounge, huge and i mean huge bed, solid wood furniture and mirrors, flat screen tv, also a kind of walk in wardrobe in a recess between bedroom and bathroom which was a wet room, shower was fantastic , and patio doors from bedroom leading out onto terrace. terrace funiture was cane not plastic. not there to watch tv but there is fox movies and a couple of other english channels

housekeeping is superb, they came every day, we had vases of flowers, petals on the bed in heart shapes, swan towels etc. they also left a large 1.5l bottle of water every day on the side which we then put in the fridge. the use of the safe is free . faultless cleaning, have been in other resorts where housekeeping has 'days off' not so here.

location - we arrived in the dark so had no idea where or what was around us. this hotel is the first hotel in hurghada our neighbour was the hilton. the hotel has extensive grounds, two pools, one large where daytime activities take place and one smaller and quieter, no music and generally family orientated or couples , no activities take place here. the lifeguard is most attentive to safety in the pool , my husband and i would have no qualms about taking our young grandaughter there.

beaches there are 3 beach areas but these are huge, cleopatra is nudist beach, easily recognised as they have wigwam type huts on the beach, next to this is the sandy beach again huge in length and mostly used by families and this then leads on to the rocky beach where the boats are moored and the watersports take place but is ok for swimming to just keep your wits about you. apart from these beaches there are two islands one walked to by a pathway between the sandy and rocky and has approx 20 sunbeds and the other island is accessed by walking around the rocky beach past the jetty. the house reef is superb cannot be faulted from the left hand side of the jetty to the entrance to the small harbour there is almost 3 reef areas you can swim across with fish ranging from nemo's to blue spotted rays.

there is only 1 toilet block on the beach and it is located by the dive point centre, however when we left they were close to finishing a new toilet and shower facility near the sandy beach.

the beach bar is good , you can get bread rolls and a choice of fillings as from lunchtime , with salad , which kind of makes you wonder when you read about the restaurant later n this review , why things are the way they are.. the beach bar closes at 6pm.

in resort shops - varied selection selling anything from inflatable vests for children for the sea to leather goods, there is a hairdresser and beauty spa and incase you dont notice a pharmacy yes there is one is under the illuminated A sign behind the rotana cafe accesssed from path running behind. there is also an inresort hospital clinic incase you have a problem over and above needing sunscreen or jippy tummy tablets. other shops are gift, jeweller etc. infact there is no need to leave the resort at all if you dont want to and if you do you have got a hell of a walk as there is nothing outside until you get well on your way towards downtown hurghada. however there is a taxi service or shuttle bus from the hotel, cant comment on either as we didnt venture out other than on the coach for the seascope submarine.

the sales guys - baseem does the seascope trips , really lovely guy and extremely helpful, tony works for the aqua centre trips again another lovely guy, waleed works for the moon stable riding centre located on the beachfront promenade, again a lovely lovely guy. we have never ridden a horse before but we booked with him and rode horses solo at 7am along the beach in the sea and up into the hilly area at the top of the resort, felt completely at ease with him , he is superb at his job and we throughly enjoyed our time riding . look up all of these guys they are superb and offer excellant trips.

Dive point is located on the beach front at the rocky end. these are the inresort PADI dive centre and these guys know their stuff. they are happy to take snorkellers on trips as well. ,my husband dives but i dont , i am a beginner snorkeller and i thoroughly enjoyed my trip with these so much that we booked again. on the first trip, i was give a life jacket as i felt nervous of the deep water and AHN took me along the reef pointing out the corals and fish , leaving my husband free to dive and take underwater photography without worrying about me. our second trip i was accompanied by SAYEED and again taken along another reef and i have to say that i felt extremely safe on both occasions. the food is 50 eygtian per person and is fantastic . the boat is never overcrowded and they have 2 boats. each time the boat arrives at its dive area there is a briefing for divers and snorkellers, where you are given details of currents and depths etc, its just superb all round cannot fault it.

i will call this part the not so good, its not bad but its not brilliant, room for improvement is probably more fitting

to begin , there is only 1 bar which inside the main building, sometimes there is a portable bar on the terrace in the evening. so far so good, the drinks however do leave a little to be desired, anything clear spirit based such as vodka, according to my husband tastes like peach snaps, so if you dont mind your vodka sprite tasting like peach snaps rock on otherwise steve suggests drink dark rum based drinks which dont taste like peach snaps and are more like they are supposed to be, the alternative stick to lager if you are particular about your spirits. also be prepared at some point in the evening to be drinking your wine, spirit, beer or tiple of your choice from paper cola cups !!! quite why not sure but it happens every night . the waiters prowling (oops sorry , serving) in the terrace area are all from the rotana cafe, if you should order your drink from them you will pay its not free, so fetch it yourself from the main bar. and shisha pipes will be offered every night regardless of whether you tell them you want them or not.

the entertainment - at a stretch this is a misuse of a word , however, it can be entertaining just because of its quality or lack of, dolly parton being sung by i believe a young russian lady at double time is something to behold. the eagles hotel california ,is again entertainment by itself but hey not expecting robbie williams and still quite pleasant to have a drink with music on the terrace. if you want to join in the butlin style games laid on by the animation crew for example mr rotana (mr russia), miss rotana (miss russia), and last but not least rotana couple (again russian) takes up 3 nights or your week, bingo for them missing good old blighty will take up yet another night. wednesdays may well be cancelled due to them selling yes selling tickets for a beach or foam party (steve says he's seen more foam shaving) but again entertaining to watch from outside the charge area because unless you want to go to the kiddie disco thats your lot. the eygptian night and cobra man night are well worth a watch , tip for non snakey people sit up the back , wont spoil your view but keep in mind.

and so to ............ the restaurant (very reminisant of a college canteen)

as usual with most AI's this is a buffet style service. the food, whilst perfectly edible and of good quality has one of the strangest mixes we have ever seen. the salad bar yes you guessed it is full of salad and good salad too if thats all you want. should you be carniverous and like a bit of meat with your salad be prepared to have it swimming in gravy or some sort of sauce, again all perfectly edible , just an unusual combination. the bbq which is on most nights outside the rear terrace seves some really nice bbq meats which go well with the salad, steve said however this is the first an only place he has ever had barbequed liver . so if you are prepared to have hot meals or mix your salad with chicken or alike the evening meals are quite acceptable just bear in mind the choices are quite strange. that pretty much sums up the evening menu. a similar menu buffet appears at lunchtime, steves tip to all those who dont fancy gravy washed meat with their salad for lunch it to tip your waiter a £1 or something a day and ask him for some luncheon, generally you will then receive a plate of cold meat , took a week for steve to get that but theres a reason for this that i will come to in a moment.
the breakfast buffet again to be honest you cant fault, some of the choices are odd!! so if you dont mind mashed potato with your sunny side up eggs and little spicy sausages and white beans, a bit hard, then again food is perfectly adequate. heres the kicker ............ at all three services the biggest problem you will find and im sorry to have to say it are the RUSSIANS. they are without a doubt steves words not mine, the most ignorant , gluttonous people we have met , the acrobatics of the eygptian night are nothing comparison to them balancing 15 eggs 32 sausages and a pile of melon one plate whilst dragging a child with the other hand and demanding that the mrs hurries up with another 2 plates of stacked high at breakfast lunch or dinner. you may think , i exagerate, should you visit this place you will come away knowing i speak the truth. you may ask yourself how a family of 4 can possibly eat the volume of food they put on a table, well after close observation , steve knows the secret . are you ready ........ they dont. they stuff it into plastic food bags they bring with them and then secret this about their persons or beach bags much to his amusement. the hilight of steves mealtime was watching a waiter offering to tip the biggest plate of bread rolls and melon into one ladies beach bag , he laugh like a hyena and she look mortified to have been caught taking food out the restaurant as it clearly states on the door that this is not be done. this part of the food service is even more entertaining than the entertainment so to sum up our opinion of the buffet meals , the foods are all good, however the choices are a little limited and very strange. you will be pushed in front of pushed to the back of queues and generally pushed aside just because thats the way it is.

to be honest, we didnt plan on sharing sunbeds with russians , romanians, arabs or whatever else , steve and i went on holiday to have time together in the sun, so if you can ignore at all times of the day the strange unfamilar traits of non brits and having said that the stange peculiar traits of some brits too and are happy to pick and choose your selections of food, it doesnt necessarily spoil your holiday.

we were told by staff that somewhere in the region of 45-50% of its clients are russian, 40% therabouts are made up of polish, arab, eygptian etc and the remaining 10% uk so if you need to make friends with others from your own country or you need to eat british food dont come here because it will not fulfill your needs, if on the other hand you are happy in the company of your spouse you love the sun the sea and the reef life and you can put up with being in the minority as a brit , carry on . we had a superb 2 week holiday and apart from the lighthearted look at the minor faults as listed above would say its a superb resort .

Room Tip: these are all self contained rooms , they are not in hotel block, the room numbering is confusing it...

The Hotel was clean, nice grounds - need walking shoes!, staff excellent -very short staffed, particularly in the bars and dining area, food below average for a four star Hotel, but you wont starve! Beach was nice, with plenty of sporting activities, animation team were fun! (Staff at wind surfing were rude and asking for there own tips!)
Our holiday was good, as a holiday is what you make it! The hotel never spoilt our time in Hurghada! The Hotel is more like a three star though and I would not re-visit this hotel in the future.

As an older couple we went with some trepidation thinking 'Butlin Days'! Accommodation was excellent. As my husband has trouble walking any distance I asked if I could change to an apartment nearer the restaurant. This was done with no fuss and they upgraded us to a bigger one with 2 huge kingsize beds. Superb views of the red sea, everything spotless and cleaned to a high standard daily. Food was ok, had to stand in line and to be honest it wasn't our choice - but then your on holiday so get on with it. Wine (one eyed) or soft drink with lunch and dinner replenished as soon as the glass was empty. Staff were first class. Emad & Mostfa in the bar superb and Adel in the Mermaid restaurant went far and beyond his duties. Environment not good for the less mobile too many steps and slippery slopes. Go to the Marina in Hurghada for a good meal. £140 EP (£14) taxi who will fetch you when you ring or give a time. Go with an open mind and enjoy being pampered!

Room Tip: Ask for upgrade they are happy to oblige. Bottom pool is more for adults but no slope only steps.

I just had a great 2 weeks in the coral beach with my family. The hotel while not the best I have ever stayed in gave me the best holiday I have ever had and this is down to the staff. Emo and Rento made the days and nights fun as did all the animation team. If your booking a snorkelling trip which you should Adam at the aqua centre was great and the captin of the boat we were on made a lot of effort and found dolphins for us. The beach is great with its own pier with loads of tropical fish. If I go back to hurghada I would come back here without a doubt.
