“Very good hotel with terrible staff!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2009

It is an excellent hotel with big swimming pool. Really quiet.
Very good food and juices (guava, mango, apple).
But staff is not good (especially for 5 stars) - lazy.

Hello All

I am very surprised at the review from the last person here (MateuszNowak) who claims to stay in all the top hotels of the world and posses such exacting standards. As someone who also posses such exacting standards and demands high class service, all I can say is the Steigenberger Al Dau Beach is a simply beautiful hotel, highly professional and friendly staff who are kind hearted and most attentive. Most discerning travellers from Europe and the USA will find this the case. The hotel is done in a mix of Egyptian and African style with white walls and dark wood with matching furnishings.

After staying at the Steigenberger Nile Palace Luxor I decided to go for their sister hotel in Hurghada as a honeymoon. The hotel upgraded us free to a suite, gave us a honeymoon cake and did not charge for my husband (I had booked from the UK for just me and my Egyptian husband would therefore be an additional charge).

The breakfasts were fantastic - gorgeous, fresh juices, continental, american, Egyptian varieties and great quality and service. The pool area is fantastic as is the reception areas. We tried Alexanders restaurant which was quite nice and the food is of a high quality in the other cafes - my only quip being the odd watery cappucino which I did complain about.

We stayed during Xmas and New Year and the Gala dinner was fantastic. The Thalasso Spa is amazing and would recommend it.

I am by no means meaning to be rude or prejudiced but I have to say the only downside to this hotel is SOME of the Russian/East European guests who can be quite rude, walk through the lobby half dressed or in their bathrobes, take coffee/tea pots and fill them up with juice instead at breakfast (like they never had this in their life) and can act sometimes with little or no grace. Money doesn't buy class......

However you will love this hotel and I think I will stay next at their sister hotel in El Gouna (Lagoon) area designed by Michael Graves to experience a different side of this area.

Hi guys!

I've just returned from the 7 days stay in steigenberger al dau in Hurghada. First of all i'd like to tell that i' pretty demanding customer and I mean that I've had occasion to visit some of the best world's hotels e.g dubai and Paris, so I'm telling You that I know the standards....

Before choosing the hotel I went through all the tripadvisors' reviews and chose steigenberger cause it was the best hotel offered by my local travel agency and recommened by tripadvisor.

By arrival we had o welcome drink and staff like that while check in I ask if there is an availibility to upgrade me to the seeview and how much it would cost, they told me that it is possible and free of charge, as it come about it was only narrow, really poor seeview, but anyway... room was clean, big, furniture in egyptian style old fashioned tv, mini bar equipped really poor the rain shower in the bathroom was useless 'cause the water pressure was too little for that and imagine how it looked in reality. The lobby of the hotel is great and looks really fantastic nearby are two bars which one of them is 24/7. The pools complex is awesome but useless as far as in the winter the water is 17 degrees and noone baths in there, there is only a tiny warmend outdoor pool packed with kids and extremely noisy.

Food and drink. We took All Inclusive which is crap! Hb is even worse because You have to pay for all of these Egyptian drinks which are extremely disgusting and expensive! You can choose between few restaurants of course buffet type and Alexanders which is suppose to have tasting menu.... But the tasting menu that is included in AI option is really poor like beef consomme and sea bass whit some awkward sauce and cheesecake for dessert. So we decided to come back next day and pay for the more luxurious menus. I took seefood menu which all of the 7 menu consisted of schrimps and the main dish which was supposed to be lobster termidor, was also schrimps swimming in the fat cream and some disgusting egyptian cheese when I told them that I payed for the lobster not for the schrimps they sad that it's a schredded lobster... What a idiots!! So that was the last time in Alexander's "The art of fine dining" JOKE! ps. the menu costed 50 euro...

Generally the stuff was very helpfull and friendly but it wasn't a rule some bartenders were really rude , like in 2 stars hotel not 5 stars de luxe! If we wanted to drink some normal alcohols like jack daniel's the price for 4cl was 60 egyptian pounds which is like approximetely 9-10 euro...

Don't take all inclusive if You appreciate QUALITY not QUANTITY!! Next tie I'm going to sheraton miramar I've heard some good opinions about that one

This hotel was a little oasis in the hustle and bustle of Egypt. The staff were professional and friendly. The rooms were spacey and well maintained. There are enough amenities and activities to keep you occupied and the beach is a sun-bathers Mecca (excuse the pun).

If you want a decent hotel with high standards of comfort in Hurghada, choose this hotel.

It's perhaps best to start by saying that this is most definitely a 5 star hotel by any standards. We stayed 4 nights here at the end of a tour of Egypt and it was a great way to wrap things up.
The rooms were large. We had a stunning view across the pool and to the Red Sea. And the food was excellent. We were half board and I wouldn't recommend full board because you'd never stop eating!

  • Liked — Stunning views
  • Disliked — Too much great food! Okay there really wasn't anything that we didn't like!

Had a really good week at this hotel. Excellent facilities, beautiful gardens, largest pool area I've seen and great service from friendly staff. Food is good/OK and all inclusive is great value. On site dive centre with daily boat trips. Shisha area good. Would recommend the pool bar/restaurant nearest the hotel - food is very good and staff very attentive. Would also recommend a deluxe room as the pool/sea views are great and the rooms are spacious and well fitted out. Would definitely go back.

  • Liked — The hotel room and the beautiful gardens and pool.
  • Disliked — Local spirits not great.
