“Good beach resort in the center of Hurghada”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

Overall comments

- Bel Air Azur hotel (sister hotel resort to Arabia Azur) was not available so they upgraded us for the Arabia Azur hotel for the Eid holiday. That was a nice upgrade at the same rate price, with the extra sea-view! Hotel manager took us on a personal guided tour in the hotel as an apology and we were convinced about the upgrade and quickly settled in.

- The resort: quite big but still easy to navigate around with clear signs of the main area. There are two lagoons with two main hotel buildings A and B and a beach. The resort has an in-sea marina too with a long walkway through the red sea which is quite unique to this resort. The resort also has Bel Air Azur and Arabella Azur connected to it.

- The room: is well-sized for three people (2 main beds and a sofa bed). It is well equipped with AC, TV, small digital locker safe to keep your valuable things, a nice big balcony with good view, good free mini-bad with drinks and water, coffee and tea free at the room with a boiler, etc. The room service guys changed our towels and cleaned the room every room as required ... but they give you soap without shampoo so take your own shampoo!

- Facilities: Fully equipped resort with many restaurants, Elsalam hospital and dialysis center (linked to the resort at building A), a shops bazaar at the gate of the resort (and a big mosque next to the shops too), and a sport center with tennis courts and indoors activities.

- The beach: the lagoons are super clean and have very useful towel service. You give your towel card to any of the towel kiosks and they give you a towel for your daily use, and they return your card once you return the towel. The sun-beds are great and abundant all across the resort beaches (no reservations needed or even allowed). The showers and toilets and also in the vicinity of the beaches for quick access. The lagoons are suitable for kids with a shallow end too.

- Restaurants: nice inter-continental food at the main restaurants which are located at the main building, the pool and the lagoon marina. The bars are all over the resort offering drinks and ice creams. The dinner on the pool is very nice with some good music and food!

- All inclusive food and snacks: is excellent. There is always something for every taste whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The only exception was the oriental dinner night during the first day of the Eid holiday which had all the Egyptian specialties only.

- The entertainment and animation: were both good. During the day there are great activities.

- Recreation: for the people who like swimming, this is a great place. The pool is big and well aligned for some swimming 'sprints'. There is a shallow section (for the kids) and deep section for the pool. For the people who like sea-swimming and snorkeling ... there is nothing better than the lagoons and the coral reef at this resort! Excellent lagoons with a good scenery, good sandy beaches, good paved areas on the lagoons, and the coral reef is one really interesting for new people and more advanced people in snorkeling. Snorkeling kit can be bought at the resort or rented for 15 L.E. for a whole day.

- Kids and sports: There are plenty of playgrounds, swings and slides at the resort marina and kids area. If the kids want to go for a camel ride then there is a great guy with his camel, he calls it Romeo, where your kids can go for a 20 mins ride for just 40 L.E. Animation team has lots of activities in the morning like volley, football, exercises, swimming, dancing, etc. At night, there are parties and disco on Wednesdays, there are some shows at the theater, and nice singers sparkling the evening dinner.

Overall, my family and I are really happy about our trip to Arabia Azur ... well worth the money compared to the amount of activities, room quality, and food we consumed! Nice relaxing holiday full of fun too!

------

Positive
- Good guest relations by Azur resorts manager for check-in
- Excellent food quality
- Good pool with many activities for kids and adults
- Great lagoons and beaches on the red sea for all kind of people: swimming, playing beach-sports, snorkeling and diving.
- Handled the congested times during the peak Eid holiday time good ... didn't feel much degradation in service quality
- The TV channels are not comprehensive ... but not bad. Some Egyptian, German, British and Russian channels

------

Negative
- Changed hotels and resorts without informing us about this change in reservation.
- Front-office employees not always helpful, especially the night-shift blue-shirt manager. Asked them to print me my electronic airline-booking and boarding-pass with a printer but they replied: "we don't have a printer. We don't know where you can print your ticket"!!!
- The juices at dinner are not fresh (i.e. are powder taste additives to sugar-added water, making it not concentrated and sometimes do not taste good). The only exception was the Apple juice.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea-view room like rooms 19 - 21 on each floor (e.g. room 219)

The pool is nice.
The sea is accessible from many places.

The room we took over looked the sea but was too far from the restaurants and the pool.

Food was good and there was variety of food.

We came at the hotel at 7 am and the guy at reception ,his name is Mansour I think, was very unfriendly.

Drinks included in the all inclusive package were very basic and didn't taste well.

arabia azur has simple, adequate and clean rooms with a basic bathroom (shower in bath, no bidet), airco, small safe and fridge. All Inclusive formula offers free (local alhoholic) drinks and good food, although a bit bland. if has a large pool, simple without any frills. smoking is allowed in all indoor areas, nice for smokers, not so nice for others. staff is very friendly and helpfull, especially when tipped. the hotel has nice sand beaches for kids and a pier with restaurant jutting out into the sea with easy acces to a beautifull house reef. windsurfing and catamaran lessons & rental available. breakfast is ok, dinner is good. for the price, dont expect haute cuisine and fresh juices. the collocated Arabella azur has practically NO beach but a small piece in the harbour. diving centre is excellent, focussing on german clientele

Room Tip: ask for room on ground floor, for better water pressure. don't forget boat shoes

Again i enjoyed staying at this resort
What i can say ... For me I totally loved it I tried another places (resorts and hotels) and always back to it with pleasure they can handle the most common problem of huge number of visitors
( Unfortunately except simple small things that i hate this time about some changes from management like: towels that they are used to change it daily this time differs they didn't do that, they can give us small bottle of water if we want out of charge this time it includes charge, restriction on deliver sea-pool towels before 6 pm and this didn't happen before however they are flexible for one or two time we can't reach their in time ).
Except these i really enjoyed like if you can say i didn't feel days it goes very fast (Means happy time).

Room Tip: Choose rooms that have view of Marina

We needed a family friendly resort where my husband and I could dive and that is what the website promised. The check in procedure was chaotic, the guest services team were not aware of any of our requests through Booking.com and seemed annoyed we were not part of a tour company. Once that hurdle was over, the stay was pleasant.

The rooms are clean and simple. The pier and reef are easily accessible, the Blue Sea dive company were immensely helpful. The kid's club was not available all day (we were not aware of that) but they still made diving possible for us in the house reef.

Beds and parasols are available in spite of many residents.

The hotel mainly caters for Germans, Russians, Czechs and Dutch tourists. The Wifi coverage is slow and patchy. Rooms are cleaned every day but it would be advisable not to leave any cash lying around.

It is not the resort you go to for luxury or private time but it is easy and good value for money for a simple family holiday

Room Tip: Ask for bay view

We stayed at this hotel for one week with all inclusive, and it was a lovely vacation. Our room was facing one of the two lagoonas. We just opened our veranda door and picked a sunbed just outside our room. The lagoonas are shallow and perfect for bathing and snorkling.
The room was cleaned very well every day, and over all the hotel area was neat and tidy. The food was okey, and absolutely at its best when they served local dishes. Unfortunately they often tried to go all continental with the food and failed.

We went snorkling, but other than that we just relaxed at hotel beach. This was the kind of vacation we were going for and therefor this hotel and area suited us perfectly.

We had a great vacation at this hotel but there was still two thing that annoyed us. Number one was that everyone that worked at the hotel just asumed that we were germans and addressed us in german. All the activities were announced in german, and the staff always greeted us in german. Maybe understandable since there were a lot of german guests. But still, there were scandinavians and other europeans at this hotel as well, and when you go abroad you expect to speak either english or the countrys own language.

Number two maybe seem like a small mather, but when you go to a hot and sunny place like this you look forward to enjoy a cold beer or drink in the sun. The problem was that the beach and pool bar used plastic glasses. Okey enough, but at some point you really want to enjoy that beer in a glass, not plastic and preferably outside. The only way you could do that was at dinner. You see the lobby bar didn't have any outdoor serving. So if you want to drink wine or beer outside and not from a plastic cup, you need to visit a bar at the marina or something.

Room Tip: Recomend to choose a room with view facing the lagoona. It's beautiful.
