“Lovely friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

Lets start on a positive the hotel was lovely and clean staff are very friendly and polite always smiling and asking if we were ok . Room was ok we stayed at the aqua park resort which was brilliant as we had two young kids they loved the pools and slides. There was a few things they could do with improving on like the food wasn't the best a lot of the same things ques in the restaurants was abit of a problem and its full of Russians and Germans who to say the least are very rude and no manners and think it's ok to push at meal times. Staff from the spa do mither you everyday for treatments which is quite annoying they can't take no for an answer. The entertainment is poor its aimed at russians and germans and thats if uou can call it entertainment. We did a few trips out which was brill and there's plenty of shops around to have a walk.

Hello everybody,
I have stayed in Aqua park hotel & must say it's great.
Stuff is great & very helpfull smiling all the time.
Food is good something for everyone, beach beautyfull and clean.
Daytrip to Giftun & snorkeling is MUST GO.
I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone in hotel as I had a great holliday & will be back soon.
As for Russians, who cares, they disgrace themselves so just ignore them.
I didn't care as I enoyed my holiday too much to take any notice of them.
Many thanks to EGYPT and lovely people I have met there as they made me and my sisters feel welcome in many ways. Some countries could look up to Egyptians.

Lots of love ,

Anita

Stayed in the aqua hotel fro July 11th for 2 weeks. The positive points were that the weather was fantastic and the hotel itself was clean and overall good. We were lucky enough to be in the hands of some very courteous staff and were treated very well. In particular Ahmed Hgagy who was running the aqua poolside bar was a real credit to the hotel and couldn't do enough for us the same to be said for Waheed Omar who ran the outside evening bar and also Sayed Zedan who looked after us around the poolside with towels. They made the difference.
The restaurants were ok but you would be best advised to eat in the al a carte restaurants which you would have to pre book but once the staff knew your face and particularly that you were from the Uk then you could book a table that evening. Mr Michael and Aymen who were two of the managers were lovely people and very professional and made us feel at home and always found us a table. There wasnt really very much to do outside the resort but if you used the 3 hotels to the max then you couldnt really get bored.
Unfortunately not all the guests acted like civilised people!!! The Russians were very rude and ignorant and had no regard for anyone including there own kind. They constantly pushed in to ques for the restaurants and filled their plates so full of food and then would take photos of it and eat a tiny amount of it. They were so rude to the hotel staff and had no idea of what holding a door meant. I am not a racist person but believe me when you see their behaviour first hand, it could sway someones opinion.
I would like to say that I would return to the resort but because of the Russians, I probably wouldnt. It seems that they prefer to Holiday in Egypt and surrounding countries so I probably wont be visiting Turkey!!!
On a whole if you want a sun guaranteed holiday to relax around the pool and want to stay in nice surroundings then this place is for you. Bring some amodium with you. Everyone that we spoke to inc us suffered from some kind of upset stomach but not bad enough to spoil our holiday. But beware you tolerance levels need to be sky high.

Room Tip: Ask for the two storey apartments or you may be on the sixth floor looking out on a road.

Too bad that you did not felt good and were not satisfied with the nationality of other guests.
The west European market was stocking after the crises in Egypt. But the bookings start to increase and we hope to see you again

Lets get real people – it bemuses me the number of brits posting on here who are surprised about the actions/behaviour of other nationalities. You are going on an all inclusive holiday and you will encounter different cultures, many of whom don’t share our manners – I am talking particularly about the Russians and Egyptians (not staff). They are rude, pushy and they are greedy but if you go to Majorca or Benidorm then you deal with the loud, drunken brits so wherever you go in the world you will always encounter idiots - just be firm and fair, stand your ground and you will be fine. If you can’t do that that then don’t do an all inclusive and enjoy your 2 weeks in a caravan in Bognor.

Onto the review. We travelled as a party of 12 (6 adults, 6 kids) and got rooms next to each other overlooking the children’s pool. The hotel was roughly 95% non English so other brits were few and far between. The rooms were spacious and cleaned every day.

Starting with the staff and service, I have been to many places in the world (including the USA on many occasions where customer service is key) and can honestly say that the level of service you will receive is second to none – you are treated with respect, warmth and treated like royalty by all the staff (although the barman in the Bierstrube was a little grumpy!!). The golden rule is be polite to the staff and they will go the extra mile for you (they get dogs abuse from the russians) A special mention go to the following:-

Medhat – Barman in Breezes/Zar Bar with a very dry sense of humour and his side kick ‘Chipes’ who will convince you that Pringles are full of vitamins

Mr. Ahmed – Maitre D of La Manche who was fantastic at sorting our table every time we went and could not do enough for us given we were a big party – very funny watching him tell the russians that they could not sit on certain tables and then give them to us.

Maitre D of La Cabana (we did not find his name out) – treated us like royalty and made sure that we always had food when the russians nicked it all (see other reviews for their level of greed).

Boodra – Waiter in Pronto and La Manche. Entertained the kids every visit

Ezzat – barman at Breezes/Zar Bar. Always made you feel special and welcome

Ayman – The ultimate member of staff. Our kids fell in love with him and he got our beds and towels every day (with help from Mohmmed) but he was fantastic.

Don’t get me wrong, a few tips don’t go amiss (a couple of pounds every 3 days or so) but it is well worth it (and the staff more than deserve them)

In terms of daytime, you cannot ask for more. We stayed in the Aqua Park which was quieter than the other two hotels and was very chilled with easy access to all the slides/pools. Access to all the other pools and hotels is a short walk.

Food wise, I despair of those reviewers who say they had to eat at McDonalds all the time. Again – you are on an all inclusive, you are not always going to get 5 star cuisine and, on occasion, it can be a little samey but you know what you are booking. Avoid Gustos like the plague – Russians and Egyptians at their worst and does not have a nice ‘feel’ to it. La Cabana is great and if you ask, the chefs will do what they can for you – make sure you befriend the Maitre D who will look after you. La Manche is great for dinner (cold beers and well looked after) but avoid lunch at all costs. The a la carte restaurants are good but some do have their drawbacks. With all of them you have to book in the morning (and have a fight with the Russians) and order what you want there and then.

Pronto – Italian. Nice food and good service – take advantage of your british status where you can order the night before thus avoiding the scrum.

Thai – Hardly anything on the menu was actually available and very disorganised.

Lebanese – Lovely food but it is like the Olympics. The mains arrive before the starters have even been finished so it is a bit of a race and you don’t feel altogether comfortable.

Do go on the trips. We paid £20 a head for a private boat (12 of us) with snorkelling which was amazing and a good 5-6 hour trip with lunch and drinks thrown in. We also did the desert safari (quad bikes/dune buggys/horses/camels/stargazing/meal/show).

There are however some negatives. As mentioned above, the resort is 95% non british so finding other brits is hard enough. We were ok as we were 3 families so happily entertained ourselves. The set up of the hotels is weird. There is a main ‘entertainment tent’ but after that there is no main area where people meet and the bars are centred around the hotel lobbys. This means that once the ‘entertainment’ (see later) is finished, there is no area where everyone goes and it has a feel of people just waiting to leave for their flights. This, even if you can find other brits to befriend, means there is nothing anywhere really to go to of any note.

Entertainment wise, this is really where the hotel complex fails dismally. The entertainment complex is a big marquee that looks very nice and has a few pool tables and machines (but very limited). The entertainment is probably the poorest I have ever seen in 25 years and generally involve the animation team miming (badly) to some music. The ‘entertainment’ also only lasts for 40 minutes with the obligatory kids dance bit (same every night), if you can hack it as a brit, but the Russians and Egyptians seemed to like it.

Probably our biggest problem was the vodka (no we are not alcoholics). Be warned, it has an aniseed twist to it and our party could not drink it which was a little problematic as that was what the ladies in our party drank. Our plan 'B' to buy a bottle of Smirnoff also went west as they have no off site alcohol shops so you are stuck with the aniseed vodka.

You do get hassled by the Spa team and people selling trips but you can either get annoyed by them or actually engage with them and have some banter. They will soon get the message that you are not interested but you can have some sport with it at the same time.

To conclude then, we loved this place but I think that if we had not been in a large group, it would have been a somewhat different experience. Be polite and treat the staff as you would expect to be treated and they will make you feel like royalty. I would recommend the Sindbad complex but just be aware of what you are letting yourself into – make all the negatives you read into positives by having a bit of banter with everyone. You can either have some fun or be the next miserable person to properly moan on Tripadvisor.

Have just returned from an interesting 2 weeks at this resort. The majority of guests were Russians, who I can quite honestly say are the rudest, greediest, aggressive race of people I have ever encountered. Mealtimes were an ordeal to say the least. Fortunately we ate at the Italian or Lebanese restaurants in the evening where we were very well looked after and not subjected to the 'bun fight' that was breakfast and lunch. Very sad to dread mealtimes on holidays.

During our stay, it was Eid (Muslim festival) and the hotel was exceptionally busy for 3 - 4 days. This resulted in the bars and restaurants running out of cups/glasses/plates etc constantly. The result of this was drinks sometimes being served in 'rapidly rinsed' glasses, that quite often were very dirty - no wonder residents were dropping like flies with tummy upsets. In a such a hot country it is a concern that drinking water was not easy to come by, we would have been very grateful of something in our room, even if only 1 bottle!!!!!!

The people selling spa treatments are a nuisance, constantly pestering you several times a day, every day.

The swimming pools and facilities in the 3 areas of this resort are excellent. The staff were always friendly, helpful and polite. They are unfortunately subjected to extreme rudeness and abuse from the Russian guests.

The best part of our holiday was the commoradary between the Brits!! We met some fab folks, and between us we muddled through, offering help and advice to each other and in true British style stayed upbeat, friendly and well mannered (the Russians should take note!!!). Would I return or recommend - sadly no.

Room Tip: 'Brit Row' - ground floor by the swimming pool

Food is really bad - and id say I eat most foreign food. The smell, presentation & quality was just poor

If your happy to eat McD for two weeks ( which we did ) Then the hotel is OK. But in my book, bad food on holiday, including being forced to eat Mds for two weeks doesn't contribute to a good holiday experience.

After a rocky start(reading reviews and breaking down on way to airport) we had a lovely week here. As other reviews avoid gusto at all times. We had breakfasts at la cabana in the water park and a couple of lunches. The italian a la cart Pronto at the beach club across the road was superb if you can find it. Head for la marche but go upstairs, not well sign posted and small menu choice but food and service were excellent. Also the thai restaurant right on the beach if you like thai food, both of these are quite hard to get tables at if you havent booked but if they say no they offer you a table the following day. Both times we visited fakhr el din restaurant we were given tables immediately and the mixed grill, with jacket potatoes was very good.

having poorly tummies does appear non negotiable but with a visit to a local pharmacy and a diet of bread rolls for a couple of days it didnt really stop us doing anything.

The spa touts are anoying but just keep polite and tell them later and they tend to leave you alone. If you do give in haggle on price.

we had room 1113 and had english families in at least 3 rooms either side. If your neighbours have been there longer than you take the time to talk to them and then like us you will no doubt make some friends and have a lot of fun.

I dont know the name of the towel man but he was very kind and gave us fluffy towels, saved us the same beds and always had a smile on his face. We said goodmorning/evening to every member of staff we passed and they always smiled and responded, which is why I say politeness and a smile goes a long way.

Room Tip: Garden rooms do appear to be all thomas cook or bright sky and are only 20 yards from the pool.

thank you very much for taking your time to write this nice review.
We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay.
We did some changes concerning the reservation for UK guest- they don't need reservation for a la carte restaurants- you can get a table as long the restaurant is not full at any time you like.
I have to agree that our staff is very friendly and they are very happy if they are treated respectful by our guest.
Hope to see you again in Sindbad Club and sending sunny greetings
