just returned from 2 weeks at the Stella beach, me my wife and 3yr old daughter had a great time, the staff were amazing, the only down sides to this holiday were the majority of guests were rude Russians and the food in the main restaurant was not hot and choice was not great.
the only other bad point was lack of mattresses for the sun loungers, apart from those minor things it was first class, we would like to give a special thank you to the following staff members
Milad, Mahmoud(swim up bar) and Moko and Massimo they made the holiday for our 3yr old daughter she is still telling all the family and her friends back home about them and how amazing they were!! anybody that goes here will have an enjoyable holiday.

the a la carte Resturants were first class well worth a visit especially the Italian

Room Tip: we stayed in room 2223 very nice room with good views try and stay at the beach part rather than the...

What a fantastic holiday! Such a great, friendly and helpful staff. I was so surprised as I was thinking that people from Egypt are pushy, and not so friendly. I couldn't be more wrong. The hotel is huge, has more than a thousand rooms, modern and very clean. You have daily activities, ping-pong tables, billiard tables, golf, tennis etc, etc. Food is superb, every day something new, 4 a la carte delicious restaurants (my favourite is Lebanese and Chinese) 2 huge buffets, one at stella beach the other one at Stella garden, free drinks are served everywhere at the resort. 7 different swimming pools. Staff super polite, always there for you. I was staying there two weeks, first week with a friend second week by myself. I'm normally get bored easily, but not here, on the beach you can find horses and camels. I was doing everyday 3 hours private horse ridding on the dessert, beautiful view of the mountains. I came back with a such a lovely memories and a skill. Founded new hobby. Hotel organises trips every day and you have a concierge to talk to as well. Special thanks to Maher, reception manager at Stella Beach for always been so helpful, always there for us, and chef Hasan for preparing amazing eggs every morning, and thank you to rest of the staff which names i don't know, for making my holidays so enjoyable. I'll definitely be back! :-)

Room Tip: Stella Garden is newest it's only 2 years old, you can walk to Stella beach or there is a bus ev...

HI returned 2 weeks ago from a 2 weeks stay we were quite nervous as we have never been to egypt before allthough normally go caribean and south america,GOOD POINTS FIRST.its great value for money if you just want to sit on your ar*e and do nothing.staff cant do enough for you very polite and they all say hello and dont expect tips but like anywhere they go a long way and its only peanuts to us but makes a big difference, the speciality resturants are fab the lebanese and indian are the best the food is hot and tasty staff top notch, the italian and chinesse were good also, the drinks and wine while not top notch were good and the mixers/soft drinks good fanta diet coke and schweppes, the pool bars at the gardens heated pool tony is fab and works really hard and always has a smile, pools clean and tidy gardens very well maintained.rooms spacious and cleaned to a very high standard we overlooked the heated pool/bar gardens, the buffet again staff very good choice is ok a bit repetitive and lacked some meats that werent cooked with a sauce but we always found at least 2 plates of food breakfast and lunch, the beach is kept tidy and the jetty is good the beach restaurant is also ok pizza spaghetti etc,, but dont forget beach shoes its not sandy a light shingle best describes it plenty of sunbeds and wind breaks makes it a bit more private, you can use the shuttle its every 10mins or so,the rep kal was very good and sorted problems as fast as possible.just a couple of conns the reception staff same everwhere we had noisy neighbours upstairs moving furniture around at 3 am this went on for a week and they finally agreed to move us but the room was a bit tired and smelt of cigarettes so we kept our old room we could not speak to rep as it was his day off the reception staff knew this and were not very helpfull, the beach resort was opened our second week and felt corners had been cut to re-open the gardens were barely half full it seemed like madness to open the beach resort as no one was in it,we did not leave the complex but were happy to relax all in all very relaxing and would return thanks to all

Room Tip: get a top floor and you wont be woken by other guests moving furniture about?

We travelled to Hurghada as a family for 2 weeks 18th Feb - 4th March 2014.Me,my partner both 26years & our son 6years old. I was also 21weeks pregnant at the time so ready for our last holiday as a 3 to relax.Firstly id like to say we always travel with Thomas cook & have visted Egypt once before but travelled to Sharm-el-sheik.Both Going & coming home were fantastic flights which I am glad of as a hate flying.
On arrival everything was great, flight, transfers & check in at the stella makadi. We went to the welcome meeting on our first day and the rep at the hotel (sorry iv forgot his name) was great he will help with anything & being an Egyptian himself he knows a lot.
We were in the Stella Gardens, pool view room 1865.Lovely room, very clean, everything you need. The hotel grounds are amazing. The pools are great and there is also a heated pool which although it was hot during the day and the sun shone constantly for two weeks is well needed as most of the pools were like ice baths. We couldn't have asked for better weather.2 weeks of 33degrees pure sunshine.
Although the hotel, grounds, pools etc were fantastic this hotel needs a lot of improvement. As I said earlier we have been to Egypt before with Thomas cook & stayed at the sunrise tirani aqua park,we also always go all inclusive so have visited enough to know that most of the time it can be done right. We thought we would try a different hotel with the stella makadi this time as we don't like to visit the same places but on reflection im gutted we didn't go with what we know.

Firstly the big issue here for us was the FOOD.The main buffet restaurant is rubbish. We would turn up look around and within a quick walk up and down the food we were gone & had to make do with other food facilities around the complex.Everything was covered in some sort of sauce so they would have chicken but it was covered in mushrooms,ok if you like mushrooms but your screwed if you don't.They would have a big turkey carved up but no potatoes or veg to go with it.They had beef but it has been cooked in oil so cheap that all that could be tasted was the oil.If your lucky they would have chips but really they are just potatoes cut in the shape of a chip. The rice was boiled so much it was like mush. The whole restaurant just needs re-analysing so much more can be done to help improve the range and quality of the food.
Another problem with the food was the al la carte restaurant booking system which can only be described as an absolute shambles. There are 4 al la carte restaurants if you want some sort of decent food whilst staying here you must book in the restaurants.Firsty though you must queue up for an hour before the seating times to ensure you get a seat..be quick though as the Russians have no sense of queuing!! For example the Italian first seating was at 6:30 so around 5:00 you can waste an hour of your holiday sat outside waiting just to get your name down on the list with a staff member who pops out at 6:00.Alright if its not busy but if it is and your not stood right next to the door people like to push in and if there's too many names down before you then you don't get a place. This really does need sorting as newcomers to the holiday kept coming down at 6:30 expecting to be seated but have no idea that you need to queue an hour before. There is nowhere that explains this to you, even our rep got it wrong at the welcome meeting.
The second big thing that needs improving here is the ENTERTAINMENT. There are some lovely members of the entertainment team here but the night entertainment is extremely poor. The entertainment was also more suited towards Russians and Germans. Which made it boring to watch. When you go all inclusive and there is nothing around your hotel its important that there is a decent entertainment package. Again there is so much more that can be done with this, the shows were rubbish in the whole 2 weeks there was not one single show that I thought oh yeah that was quite good tonight, instead we found ourselves going to bed early watching a film on the tv as this more appealing. Again its not the fault of the entertainment team there just needs to be more outside entertainment brought in Eg - magicians, dancers proper acts.
There is also no beer or alcohol served at the entertainment beer meaning you have to go up to the lobby. The lobby bar area is very dirty, the seats are covered in stains from spilt drinks - some new seating wouldn't go a miss. The music around the pool areas need changing more often,i think I know the whole tracklist off by heart of the one cd that was constantly played.
Some smaller problems:
The beach was lovely, good food at the beach too which helps. No ice cream the whole two weeks which was also a let down as the shops charged nearly £4 for an ice lolly, Again you expect ice cream at an all inclusive.
Although there was lifts in the hotel there were no handrails anywere,I slipped a few times on the marble stairs which is obviously very dangerous even more so being pregnant.
Sheets on the bed are not fitted.Ok if they are big sheets and stay put but they don't.Often we would wake up and find we were asleep on the mattress which is gross as there are no protectors on them.
Most of the staff members are lovely, we don't tip as we expect good customer service anyway by this I just mean a smile & a polite hello we don't go away expecting people to serve us like slaves we just want a nice time & help ourselves.
Prepare to be mythered by the spa people, diving, quad biking etc even a polite no thank you doesn't help they will myther you whatever.
As iv said before the hotel is mostly Russians and Germans although most of them were nice most were rude and even smiling at them you get nothing back, This actually was another major letdown of the holiday. We like to meet people and have a chat with others but couldn't.
Overall we had a lovely time just relaxing and being as a family in the sun.

So much more can be done to improve this hotel we were ready to get home which is very unusual for us as we usually have major holiday blues & don't want to leave.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel - so much more to offer in Egypt.

Just returned from this resort, travelled as 2 families, each with a toddler. Although this review is going to be about the hotel and resort, I will also include information that I would find helpful if travelling with a toddler to this resort as we had to do lots of homework.
We flew for a week here from East Midlands (there is a small free soft play at East Midlands now), checked in and has already emailed the hotel to ask for rooms near to each other. We were given a first floor room with conjoining door which worked out great for us. Ask for a kettle when you check in, they will provide you with one. The cot we were given was very unsteady and my little boy managed to kick the side off, so we asked it to be changed to a travel cot, this was done within a couple of hours. We had a huge bathroom with a bath and a separate shower, shower gel and shampoo is provided in dispensers on the wall, there is also a hair dryer and a safe free of charge. We also had a mini bar and you are provided with 1 bottle of water per person per day when your room is cleaned. The water dispensers around the resort are bottled water, completely safe to drink we all used it including the kids. Also the salad is washed with bottled water and ice in drinks is made from bottled.
We stayed at the stella gardens, which we felt was the better of the 2, block 37 just near the pool and far enough away from the entertainment not to disturb the kids when they were in bed. The rooms are clean and the beds very comfortable! We were also within walking distance to stella beach resort, although there was a bus stop at the bottom of the resort too. We used the free shuttle many times. We were near the heated pools, which was right for this time of year but there was also several other pools that can be used. By the pool the sun beds are on sand, which gives you that beach feeling. Again very useful for us with the kids.
The main restaurant at the gardens we did not find that great, the food tasted nice but it does get repetitive, although we were all fine, no problems with the food. We found both the choice and the service at the main restaurant at the beach resort a lot better so my advice would be to eat there as much as possible. We also ate at all the a la carte restaurants, not all of them had 2 highchairs which was a problem at times. The food and service at the a la cartes was lovely, would recommend them all but especially the Chinese and Lebanese. The one fault we did have with the food was there was a problem with supply of ice cream so we didn't get any all week!
Food was served at the beach bar too although we had a thunderstorm on the day we chose to visit the beach so they did not serve the food that day, not the hotels fault, the weather is just bad luck.
We did visit the beach, it was very course and lots of sharp rocks so jelly shoes for children would be my advice, had a walkout to the jetty also which was a lovely view.
Beach towels are provided by the hotel so save your luggage and don't pack them. You get fresh ones daily. The whole resort was very clean, they spend a lot of time maintaining the place.
The animation team really try their best, they have daytime and nighttime entertainment, yes it is a bit lame at times but with so many nationalities it is difficult. They had a mini disco for the kids every nite and also have cartoons on a big screen each evening. The animation team made a real fuss of our kids. It was my birthday whilst we were away and the hotel reception sent me a card and a birthday cake in my room when we got in that evening, I thought this was a lovely thing to do. There was also a tv in the room with some English channels but we did not watch it. There is a large outdoor play area for kids at the gardens resort, and a kids club at both. We did use the play area daily.
Some of the staff do not provide excellent service, but those who do make up for it. We did tip the staff who treated us well. There are people at the resort of other nationalities who do not understand the concept of queuing and will butt in, but again no reflection on the hotel.
There is a shopping centre in the beach resort where you can buy all sorts, make sure you haggle as we did and got everything for what we wanted. If you go to walk away they will chase you and agree the price you said. You can also buy baby wipes and pampers nappies from the pharmacy but unsure of the price.
Anything you need I would recommend using the rep, he can get everything at a cheaper price than you can get elsewhere, 2 people from our party went on a diving trip and it was half the cost we had found online beforehand. Also, ask for a packed lunch if doing any trips the hotel will provide. We paid for late checkout in one of our rooms, it was worth it for us with having the toddlers. You can also buy wifi from the hotel which can be used at both , in the lobby areas, for a reasonable price.
When we flew home, there was a Burger King in the airport which accepted euro, travel cards, English money and paid you back in the currency you paid. Watch what they charge as they tried to over charge us, we used it as there was a child's play area in Burger King restaurant which was very useful for us.
There is not much to do outside the resort, it is very isolated however the complex is that big that you do not need to leave. It does have everything that you would need. Did not try the spa but found the prices a little expensive compared to other places I have stayed. You do get hassled by people selling trips etc but if you just tell them no thank you they get the message.
Overall it had everything we wanted for an enjoyable family holiday, the food and service of some staff members brings the resort down to a 4 star in my opinion but I would return.
