Just came back from a week holidays in Cleopatra hotel with 3 kids.It was really our best holidays so far.A brilliant hotel with so many pools and good spacious apartment with own front space with 2 sunbeds.Good food with several choices, special meals for children.Different theme nights for food on every day.Very nice friendly and cooperative staff.I needed to change room to ground floor and was changed without any hassle. My children got presents on arrival and whole family was served with juices. We arrived at Midnight and there was some food ready even at that time. You get something to eat almost whole day.One day I mentioned to sport manager about brilliant desserts last night and he sent more in our room. You ask for help from any staff member and you get it.You get free vouchers for their ala cart restaurants. They have own diving centre for half price vouchers offers with very helpful staff. They make you so confident about diving and make it so easy for you. There are so many activities in hotel that you don't need to go outside. Great animation team, keeping you busy whole day and night with sports, dance and entertainment.
They just need to improve breakfast, need a coffee machine and a currency exchange desk(instead of ATM).
At the end want to thanks Hany Muneer(manager), Fawzy at main resturant,Ahmed,Mustafa and mahmood at reception desk, mahmood in lobby bar, zizo at pool bar and diving centre instructor and staff.
I would really recommend this hotel and would like to go back again.

We were booked this hotel by Ian Horsewood, a Coop Personal Travel Adviser, we required sun, ground floor, near to amenities and all-inclusive, the Cleopatra met our requirements.

Flights and Transfers: The flights from Gatwick by Monarch took off and landed on time both ways. After negotiating the scrum at Hurgahada Airport for visa's we went to find our private transfer arranged with A to B. My only comments is "Couldn't arrange a booze up in a brewery". Took over 25 minutes to get into our taxi which was parked with a driver in for our whole wait. The return transfer was on time and took swiftly to the airport.

Hotel Grounds and Pools: 5 pools and extensive grounds/gardens kept spotlessly clean and well tended, many staff and managers overseeing all aspects of maintenance.

Hotel Rooms: Reasonably sized, well appointed, plenty of storage, comfortable beds with duvets, free safe, large shower. Considering the size of this hotel it was very quiet at night. Our cleaner Ehab serviced the room every day between 9.30 - 11.00am, leaving it spotless.

Bars: Several bars, some queuing, however the barmen attempted to serve in order of arrival. Please see the section on Russians. Bassem and Mohomed provided excellent service.

Restaurants: The main restaurant, was self service with tables laid and waiters serving wine. During our first few days tables were not being cleared, See Russian Section. however this situation rapidly improved with more waiters being employed and better training, the food was of very good quality.

Italian Restaurant: In this restaurant we had 1 acceptable meal, just? due to bad waiting. 1 atrocious meal, bad waiting and food, 1 excellent meal, thank you Ehab and Mostapha.

Rock Lobster: Sea food restaurant, great setting, sitting outside, overlooking the sea, good food well served, thank you Romney, Ahab and Hussein.

Wellness Centre: Due to a trapped nerve I went for Hot Stone treatment and massages. The treatments were carried out by Achmed, who was very professional and found parts of my body that I didn't know existed. I managed to walk far better and have not had any back spasms since.

Reception, Guest Relations, Management.

Reception was very efficient and helpful, Guest Relations especially Djetle, the Dutch lady, very efficient, friendly and helpful. Mr Thomas the General Manager could be found in the Hotel grounds and was always very approachable and was interested in what the guests thought of the hotel. Any complaints placed in front of Mr Thomas were acted on very swiftly.

Russians: The first week of our stay the hotel was approx 75% Russian occupancy, 15% German and other nationalities made up the balance. 90% of the the Russians suffered from serious problems of gluttony, piling their plates high with food, which often they would not eat. The other 10% were bad mannered, aggressive pigs, rude to staff and other guests, in one case ordering 15 drinks for 6 people, until the barman stopped serving them and enduring a barrage of abuse for his trouble. The Russian occupancy declined during the latter part of our stay to 40% and the atmosphere/service improved substantially. Please note that I have been to Russia and have Russian friends also I would like to thank the gentlemen, from Murmansk and Ukraine and Sasha, from Siberia, all of whom were charming, polite and entertaining.

We will most definitely stay at this hotel again, my apologies if I have spelt any of the names incorrectly. Despite the odd slip up all the employees of thei hotel were cheerful, polite and helpful.

The six day stay was part of package. Three of us did a Nile cruise and then had 6 days in the resort. Cleopatra is ideal for families with children. Indeed it is reminiscent of the old Butlins holiday camps in the UK minus the red coats. The restaurant was the size of an aircraft hanger and subsequently very noisy. The food was varied and plentiful. Staff worked hard but it was hard to find a clean table. There were two a la carte restaurants where it was peaceful and quiet, but visits were limited.
The clientele were mainly Russian, Ukrainian or German therefore smoking in the public areas was heavy. Fortunately it was not allowed in the rooms. Alcohol is free 24 hours but of very poor quality. We did not see drunkeness. The trips and spa were expensive but these are optional extra.
I contracted a tummy three days before I came home and is likely to last for up to 10 days. I have travelled all over the world and never been ill before. Therefore hygiene is still a problem, two or three others we met had a similar problem. The old adage you get what you pay for comes to mind.

Room Tip: Most rooms had a pool or sea view. Mine was quiet but the resort was only about 60% full at a guess...

The rooms, pool and beach areas are fine. However, everywhere else is dirty and never cleaned. The food is ok but repetitive and it is an awful main restaurant - no clean tables or cutlery! No staff anywhere to help you or even be friendly. Don't bother with the a la carte restaurants - we walked out halfway through the meal and no one even batted an eyelid. Another table complained about their food and the staff just laughed at them. The reception is the worst I have ever experienced, they answer the phone by shouting 'YES?!' at you as if you are bothering them! Avoid the taxi service run by the hotel as they will rip you off. We have stayed in many 5 star hotels around the world and are regulars in Hurghada and have never come across such poor hospitality. This not a 5 star hotel by any means! The other guests are mostly Russians who are rude, loud and will ruin your holiday! The only saving grace are 3 members of staff - Ahmed in the lobby bar and disco, Zizo in the pool bar and Anwar the bellman. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

my name is omar samer First time to go to cleopatra makadi bay, we went there as we had a great offer at palm week and its good reputation, but it wasn't good as expected, let us start with the good stuff:
the hotel has a great view, well designed buildings with a great areas, several pools, lots of activities, so as an hotel its great
second the bad stuff:
We were staying at room 1003, a sea view room , far from the restaurant, was dirty, we found a a small RAT in it which was a shock for us !!, we called the room service and the night manager came after half an hour and after looking for the rat and turning the room upside down they failed to catch it so they told us that the hotel management will move us to another room next day because they didnt have any clean rooms at the moment which was ridiculous and surly we refused to stay it it any more after that we moved to another room 1116 which was a messy we LOTS of insects add to it that the housekeeping gay just tied up the bed wich was a mess from the last gust without even changing the sheets!! , we refused and finally was moved to room 1115, a clean one.
in the restaurant, there were not enough plates, spoons, forks
waiting for at least 10 min to be replaced by a clean ones
i wouldn't recommend this hotel to any one and for sure will NEVER stay in it again.

My husband and I spend 10 days at the cleopatra and we couldn't fault it. The animation team were brilliant, there were plenty of activities all inclusive, archery, aqua aerobics, Zumba, belly dancing... Lilo, professional yoga teacher was lovely and all of them were very friendly. We were the only English people there at the time and they really want more English to visit, we were treated like kings and queens. Mainly Russians, German & Ukraines when we stayed but everyone was friendly and we spent many nights trying to talk to someone who didn't speak much English. Ahmed at the pool bar was always smiling and is such a charmer, in fact all the staff were. Food was great and the alcohol wasn't watered down, at lunch and dinner if you wanted wine they would put a bottle on your table. There is a night club open to 0300 for those who want to party. Shows every night performed by the animation team were god fun. We are definitely going back. Had a wonderful holiday.
