Spent 2 weeks at the Makadi Spa in November and we had a great time, the hotel is peaceful and beautiful, yes there were some problems, but no where is perfect.
The rooms are really beautiful I know you don't go on holiday for the room but it is nice to be a little spoilt.
The food can be a little hit and miss, we ate in the
Asian- our favourite by far service and food were truly sensational.
Taberna- although they have changed the menu, its still not right, the food was tasty, but the main portions were small, and the concept of the tapas is not working, we spoke to the head waiter one evening and were really amazed at how bothered he was that people were not enjoying the food.We ate here for breakfast every morning, and found there was a good choice, and the staff were great.
The View- great for afternoon tea and cakes, but the twice we ate there for lunch, we had we had a long wait, not a lot of atmosphere there in the evenings.
The Steakhouse- ate twice in the evening, nice food the head waiter is really great.
The Fish- had a lunch and evening meal, enjoyed them both.
Pool Snackbar- great great staff food a bit hit and miss, had the best gin & tonic ever.
The Garden Bar- drinks again bit hit and miss, but as I only really drink brandy and lemonade
it wasn't really a problem, but as its a very small menu of drinks I do think the staff should be more consistent.
The Lobby Bar- I agree with a previous reviewer that is a real shame its not part of the AI as it is beautiful to sit in an evening looking at the pool, we did sit there often after having a drink in the garden bar.
We also ate in the Palace - The Melange, ok The Thai nice but not spectacular, The Italian,we really enjoyed the 2 meals we had there, The Botanical again really lovely, the Chinese very tasty but cold, but it was changed for us, so it was ok.
The pools are beautiful but they were really really cold the first week, much nicer when they heated the back pool the 2nd week.
The staff were amazing, I think a lot of problems are just due to the fact that the staff just don't understand our accents, they are all so friendly, and although we did tip on a regular basis we never felt as though we had to. The management are also great, thanks for answering all our questions regarding the electricity, the water, and the bread!!!
We loved the fact that you could walk out of the resort along the beach, and that by going to a restaurant in an adjoining resort, it felt like you were going out for the evening.
We have holidayed in the Caribbean for the last 14 years staying in Sandals but now don't want to do long flights any more, this was our first visit to Egypt, and we were a bit worried, but we loved it, we will definately be returning to the Makadi Spa next November if not before...... thanks to you all for a wonderful holiday.
