We decided to have our 1st Christmas abroad as our 2 children were abroad. We booked the Makardi spar with trepidation as we knew nothing about the resort. We had 2 junior siutes for my husband and I and for my mum. The rooms were exeptional....beautifully finished.... total luxuary . Bath towels & beech bag.... big tv ( not a lot of choice of English channels)fridge--replenished every day, and a huge bed. The hotel complex was spotless and beautiful, the service around the pools was faultless.... as many coffees and drinks as you could manage! Breakfast buffet was amazing...so much choice. The option of so many places to eat in the evenings made "all inclusive " so much nicer and varied,we ate somewhere differnt every night. all the staff were helpfull and polit. The whole complex was spotlessly clean. Great local cocktails...mmmmmmm! the negatives..well the posh pool bar and the lobby bar was not part of the "all inclusive deal",which meant there was very little atmosphere in the lobby... and the beautifully furnished pool bar was always empty... what a waste. The wi fi was a bit iffy, which was a shame as we wanted to skype our girls. Very little Christmas atmosphere.. same CD playing all the time!! hehehe The Gala Dinner was Lovely... but a bit pricey....and we had to pay for water and coffee. The Asian resteraunt was superb,as was the steak resteraunt.
We spent the whole week by the pool, we didnt sunbath on the beach...it was very clean, but stoney and gritty.... a lovely pier to go snorkling from though. There was a little bit of work going on at the hotel( which we were told about) this did not eefect our pleasure at all.

I would definitely go to this resort again and stay at the Makadi Spa hotel.

Excellent. Hotel spacious rooms and the wet room especially the bath which is more like a mini pool takes a while to fill it up but worth the wait
Arrival at the hotel is a bit long winded
Wristbands etc
We travelled 4th jan for 1week i,d it was chilling in the evening but thats an understatement I found it to be freezing and after 3 days caught a cold which I still have so warm evening clothes a must
Resturants need to be booked in advance for adjorning available Resturants theses are booked thru reception
All the staff are very friendly and like a little joke with you
Rubber diving shoes are a must for getting into the sea as the coral will strip your feet apart
Plenty of water sports available lots of little shops on the sea front and a chemist at the little square outside the hotel
We tried steak, fish,Italian, burger, asian we had the beakfast buffet in the hotel which will cook fresh for you
Some of the dishes were nt hot enough so we just left them and had something else
We think its 1 kitchen supplying the Resturants hence food not quite not enough
Beach towels and bag are supplied and changed daily from your room
Take your own travel kettle etc for your morning cuppa as theres none in your room
There was some building work still going on for the spa but didnt bother us
The bar area in the photo on the website is soft drinks only
And the lobby bar is not inc in your all inc price
Theres only 2 bars in the hotel you can use
1 of which was closed towards the end of our stay as it was too cold
We did enjoy the hotel and will go back again

Room Tip: We were in 6111 which overlooked the sea and the pool the otherside but didnt get the sun

This is a fairly new hotel so when we stayed in September 2012 there were parts to this hotel that hadn't been completely finished yet and at times building work was heard.

The works taking place certainly did not take away from a fantastic stay!

The room we stayed in was magnificent and was quite possibly one of the best rooms we have ever stayed in and if and when you come down with the dreaded Pharaohs Revenge then its a nice and comfortable room to spend the day in.

The room was exceptionally clean with a great bathroom and wet room. Credit must go to whoever had designed these rooms!

The pool and bar area were also very well designed, the infinity pool was fantastic. The hotel has been/is being built to serve as a perfect tranquil retreat.

The food at the hotel and at the near Makadi Mall was perfect, you did need to book in advance to eat at any of the restaurants and if you didn't then it was a trip to the neighbouring hotels buffet restaurants and as it happens we always managed to get into one of the onsite restaurants. Fantastic Fish restaurant just off of the beach..

Its a 30 second walk from the pool area to the beach and is fantastic for any snorkelling enthusiast. Might be worth taking away some water shoes as you do need to wade out quite far until you reach the coral shelf and the sea bed is not forgiving on ones bare feet!!

All in all a great hotel for adults only.

We stayed at Makadi Spa for Christmas and had a lovely time even though I had bronchitis for most of the holiday.
The Junior suite we stayed in was fabulous with pool and sea views and a huge ballroom of a balcony with a good selection of furniture.
The bed was massive and a large flat screen tv in a central island, although we got a bit fed up with the lack of programmes in English as most were in german. Not that we go on holiday to watch TV for hours on end but the BBC news was on roll around all day so a bit monotonous, Al Jazzera would have been good for world news.
The Tanoura and Belly dancer was a nice touch too at the Christmas Eve Gala dinner and no extra charge for this stupendous feast was a lovely surprise as was the Stocking left in our room with an orange and festive biscuits.
The hotel staff were fantastic, helpful, cheery, polite and couldn't do enough to help and they had a doctor on site who saw me for my bronchitis and was thorough and his prescriptions helped me through it.
The hotel was clean and cheerful and beautifully designed, plenty of sunbeds to go round and the pools clean.
The beach massage was excellent and we had the 3 for the price of 2 and it was very reasonably priced with competant staff.
The only downside was the lack of tea/coffe making facilities and bathrobes in the room which I would expect in a hotel of this calibre.
All in all a lovely hotel and I would highly reccommend it.
We went with Red Sea holidays who were excellent at giving advice and information along the way.

Room Tip: Junior suites are superb

We stayed there the 16 to 30 November and had a fantastic time. We had such a good holiday that we're looking to return next year.

If you want a hotel which has an activity programme, organised entertainment and loud music everywhere then this isn't the hotel for you. The hotel has a very peaceful atmosphere and is very quiet (except for a few sounds from the ongoing construction work, which wasn't a problem for us as we knew about it when we booked).

Our room (6337) was enormous and had a wonderful view overlooking the pool and the sea beyond. The balcony was so large it contained 2 sunbeds, 2 chairs with footstools, a dining table & 2 chairs, a sofa, 2 easy chairs, coffee table and 3 side tables. The room was also massive with bedroom and sitting area (divided by a partition), bathroom with bath, shower, loo, bidet and 2 handbaisins, plus a walk in wardrobe/dressing room. This was cleaned daily and the toiletries replaced as soon as they were used up.

At the time of our stay there were numerous dining options within the hotel - Asian (our favourite), steak, fish and tapas on an evening, plus the View restaurant at lunchtime. We could also eat at the 2 sister hotels, the Makadi Palace and the Grand Makadi, and at the Makadi Mall. With so much choice we didn't manage to visit all the resturants but the ones we did visit we really enjoyed. The service could sometimes be a little slow but, hey, we were on holiday and the drinks were free!! Most mornings we went to the Cove for breakfast which was in a lovely setting to start the day and the juice squeezing machine certainly gave your arms a good workout!!

We found all the staff to be very helpful, friendly and cheerful and it wouldn't be fair to single anyone out for special mention. The hotel was kept spotlessly clean and tidy - no mean feat in the areas where the construction was going on.

As others have mentioned the pool was quite cold our first week but it wasn't unbearable and it really helped cool you down after a days serious sunbathing. There were always plenty of sunbeds, despite the persistent 'get up early to reserve a sunbed' brigade, and we spend many a happy day just lazing around the pool, being served drinks when we wanted and having our sunglasses cleaned (a fantastic idea as sunglasses can get rather messy with all the suncream).

If any of the earlier poor reviews have put you off don't let them. As it is now the Makadi Spa is lovely, once the Spa is finished it will be exceptional. If you just want a peaceful, chill out time with no kids, spacious rooms, plenty of dining choice in a spotlessly clean hotel then this is the place for you.

Holidayed there from 30th Nov to 14th Dec.

Overall impression was good for the hotel, is a new hotel and still a little under construction, this a minor irritation as workmen are to be heard close to the pool areas; although you can go to the Hotel beach and enjoy the Red Sea and its attractions.
Speaking to the manager who speaks to new holiday makers at the weekly WE CARE meeting he explained that the work will be complete this week and a new buffet restaurant will open.
There will however be further work continuing on the new spa area and top floors, luxury suites.

Ok don't want to give the impression that this put us off. The hotel is adult only so great no kids! The people we met all were from interesting backgrounds and made the eves entertaining.

Please read the other positive reviews as this saves me much writing. some have gone into great detail about the resort and I would agree with the facts.

Eating there is ok, The meals have to be pre-booked in the various restaurants, although with the buffet open for Xmas this may change. We worked out the over a 14 night stay you could eat around the choices and not repeat yourself. Meal quality is good, often the food not hot though? Portions are ok if you are not very hungry, but if you are then ask for more and the waiters will oblige you.
Note on all the staff, all very lovely guys. Please if you are there tip them where you feel the service has been good, a few quid goes a long way!

Rooms are like you would find at home, tidy and all furniture etc. is clean.

One gripe was and I mentioned this to the manager there is no where to sit in the eve. inside and drink. For some reason the Lobby Bar is a chargeable area? Reply to my asking was there was too much noise from the guests-outside area and the Lobby was be-spoiled - inside area by guests sitting about in the premier part of the hotel! Not a good decision, it is a hotel not a residence!

Most of the guests were English, German and Scandinavian all civil.

The main pool I reckon was down at 19 C in the last few days, so go to the Sea around 23 C.

One tip to try well I heard this too late. If you book a meal in one of the Mall restaurants at the hotel reception then its all within the all inclusive deal.

Drinks, too much alcohol going into most of the mixer drinks a bit more work on the cocktails too needed.

You can use the facilities of the other Red Sea hotels on the strip too. Curfew to walk up/down the coast beyond the 4 hotels after 6pm, poss a good idea for your safety.

Done Sharm and would say the summary is Hurghada is quieter all the hotels are clinging to the coastline.

If you want culture/entertainment then you will have to make it yourself.

Room Tip: Inside the hotel complex overlooking the pool area

We stayed at the Makadi Spa Hotel for two weeks from 9 November and had an absolutely great time. We can’t wait to return, which we will hopefully do at some stage next year.
Although the hotel is not fully complete, you can see that it is going to be something special and will be the flagship hotel for the area. Yes, there are teething troubles, but if you go with the right attitude, you put things into perspective and don’t make mountains out of molehills, which some guests did. At the end of the day for a 14 night holiday at a cost of well under £1,000 each, we think it was well worth the money (we have been paying far more to go to Sharm through other travel companies). We just hope the cost does not increase too much when it is fully up and running.
We were enticed to the hotel by the ‘adult-only’ status and, although obviously when you were out and about in the other hotels in the area there were children, at least back at ‘The Spa’ you had a kids-free zone. We agree that it felt great being able to dine around – it did give you the impression that you were dining out. The range of restaurants is absolutely great and you could dine at a different one every night for the whole two weeks if you liked. After the first week we had found our favourites and stayed with them, so next time we will have to try the others. We only ‘discovered’ the Asian the day before we returned home when we had lunch there which was absolutely superb, so this is a definite for next year.
We found the staff to be excellent, very polite, friendly and willing to go the extra mile to make your time at the hotel special. Our favourities were the two waiters in the Garden Bar (Mohamed and Mahamoud), also the two drinks waiters around the pool area, one of who doubled up as the sunglass polisher. The waiters in the Infinity Pool Bar and The Cove were also very good.
Our room was absolutely fabulous and very large, the balcony being as large as our lounge and dining room at home. The only things we missed in the room were dressing gowns and tea/coffee making facilities which would have been the icing on the cake, otherwise no negatives at all.
Having been to Egypt several times, mainly to Sharm El Sheikh, but also having done a Nile cruise, we did not venture out on any of the trips as our holiday was for pure relaxation, not exploring.
