“Makadi Spa hotel including movie of Junior Suite”
Reviewed 29 May 2013

Wonderful stay at the the hotel thoroughly enjoyed.

This is the link to a movie of the Junior Suite, wonderful room, great hotel, food good but not outstanding, friendly service, mini bar included in the all-inclusive package. Great promenade along the front which is exclusively for the four hotels of this group - so great for walking and jogging without hassle.

Room Tip: Choose the Junior Suite.

Spent seven nights at this stunning adults only hotel with my boyfriend and I don't know where to start it was that good. Red Sea holidays who we booked though were fantastic! From the moment we were met at the airport by our friendly english speaking rep to the service by all staff through out our stay, you couldn't fault them! Food is a big part of our holiday and we had reservations due to what friends had told us about other hotels. There was no need to worry at all though! So much choice in the buffet restaurant from fresh orange juice for breakfast to fresh pasta made in front of you for dinner. If you prefer a la carte dining there are plenty of restaurants to keep you busy. We ate in the French, Italian, Spanish, fish and steak. All were excellent serving fresh high quality cuisine. Personal favourite was the steak where we chose fillet cooked exactly how we like. Egypt had really good quality beef imported so its always a winner. The hotel it's self is stunning. The view from the infinity pool across the Red Sea and mountains is something else. There are plenty of sunbeds around the pool so there is no need to worry about getting up early and reserving beds. Too top would be get out and see the area around you. Paradise island and the escorted shopping tours are a must. Both can be booked through you Red Sea rep and are really good value!! Rooms are really spacious and very modern. Can't wait to go back!

Have just spent a great week at the Makadi Spa Hotel. The hotel was first class and when the on-going,but unobtrusive, building works are completed it will look even better. Our room was fantastic. The bathroom was superb divided into 3 seperate areas for toilet / bidet, washbasins and a wet room offering shower and bath facilities. The bed was both yery large and comfortable and a seperate area contained 2 couches, minibar, refilled with complimentary soft drinks and beer eaach day and a wall mounted 40 inch tv with some english speaking channels. The spacious balcony had comfotable seating and offered a fine view of the Red Sea.
The eating and drinking arrangements were at first glance a little confusing but once understood offered a good range of bars and restaurants at the Spa on an all inclusive basis. The food in the buffet restaurants and the several al a carte restaurants was of excellent quality. In the restaurants it was a shame that the smart casual dress code was not more rigidly adhered to but this should be stressed more clearly at the booking stage, most people make the effort but there was always the odd "footy shirt". Guests also have the use of facilities including food and drink at both The Makadi Palace and The Grand Makadi a short distance away. However guests from these two hotels were not able to use the facilities at the Spa.There was little entertainment in the hotel but i believe that more went on at the 2 sister hotels. The pools and ground were firstclass and all the sunbeds were in excellent condition, indeed all the hotel fixtures and fittings were of the highest order. The sea was only a short walk away and the sight of fish in the water was great.
All of the staff were courteous and friendly and always ready to be of assistance

All in all a great holiday destination.

firstly when you arrive at hurghada airport you will probably be treated like animals and herded to the various travel agency booths for your visa you will be charged £5 more per person to buy your visa at one of these booths if you look to the left when you enter the airport the are a row of official Egyptian banks to purchase your visa at, it will cost you $15 or £13 so take dollars.
on arrival at the hotel check in was smooth and efficient we were taken to our room and the luggage followed shortly after. the rooms were very spacious, clean and the beds large and comfy, the tv had 3 or 4 English channels but poor reception and you could not watch it from the bed only from the sitting room we had a broken balcony door and the safety deposit box battery had run out these were fixed the next day with no fuss. the bathrooms were lovely but be warned the bath took 40 minutes to fill but it was huge. we were led to believe we had a mini bar I would not call a fridge with a bottle of water in a mini bar ?
the food in the buffet was varied and tasty had some lovely Chinese meals in here, waiters were attentive and it felt more like a restaurant than a large dining room tables were cleared promptly we didn't feel the need to venture out for food other than trying the Asian which was delicious also the service in the Asian was the most efficient we had during the holiday the two guys running this were very good at their job and do try the fried ice cream it is delicious. we ate at the fish restaurant (lovely battered fish & chips) and shimmers for lunch also the pool snack bar all were nice food, though service was terrible in shimmers at lunch time there were 6 waiters but no organisation one would take an order another walk round trying to find out who the order belonged to things forgotten it was quite chaotic didn't go back for another lunch there. we went next door to the dome for food at lunch time but came back quickly, after the peace and tranquillity at our hotel it was like a canteen and lots of kids running around a very noisy place. We also tried the cove for breakfast it is much smaller than the buffet restaurant and a nice setting not so busy.
the beer at the pool bars was cold but everywhere else the cans were warm not a nice way to drink beer in a hot country. the quality of the local spirits was quite poor and limited the wine was terrible. we went to the lobby bar for cakes and coffee in the afternoon but the guy serving was adamant that it was not part of the all inclusive I believe it should have been and maybe should have argued but didn't think it was worth it. we liked the garden bar in the evenings for a pre dinner drink but that was the warmest beer usually had a cocktail because it was the most drinkable alcohol. the lobby bar was only all inclusive on the outside (not the inside) till 10am for soft drinks, tea and coffee after 10 am it was not part of the all inclusive I don't know why, only saw it used for drinks a couple of times seemed such a waste of nice surroundings.
the pool area was very nice plenty of good quality comfy sun beds all with shades there were a number of doubles and never had a problem getting one at any time of day but the prime positions were taken very early around 6.30 am in fact it was so warm people were out sunbathing by 7am.
the snorkelling was a bit of a let down compared to other parts of makadi bay but if you walk ten minutes to your left from the hotel there is a jetty which makes it easy to get straight in to the snorkelling without having to walk across the rock which is hard work.
even with the not so good things it was a very nice relaxing enjoyable holiday.

The Makadi Spa is a lovely hotel and the rooms have the WOW factor but the service in the restaurants let it down.We had booked a table for 8pm in the Asian restaurant, were put into a bar which was very musty and told to wait which we did for half an hour and nobody bothered to come and see us to let us know what was going on.Our friend who we had gone on holiday with went to find the restaurant manager and it ended up in a big row unfortunately,he couldn't tell us when we would be seated and as it was now gone 8:30pm we had to go to the buffet restaurant which closes at 9:30pm,we would not have had a meal otherwise,They need to sort out their booking systems and expect customers to stay longer at their tables after their meals,as we were only there for a week,we never did get to the Asian but went to the Steak restaurant twice which was really nice and I would definitely recommend to anyone going there, great service and staff. I would certainly go back to the Makadi Spa despite the food problems.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 6230 which overlooked the pool and it was a lovely view with a huge balcony, very q...

We returned on Fri 24th May following a week at this wonderful resort. We stayed at the Palace only 8 weeks ago, we kept walking past the spa and thought it looked lovely. We didn't think we would be returning so quickly, however this was a family holiday and to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The weather in that short space of time had increased dramatically most days it was 40 deg & evenings about 26-28. We were all stunned at some of the negative reviews, as we all agreed, that we could not fault the hotel overall. There was a good mix of nationalities, lots of English people. From the moment you arrive to leaving, you can't help but be drawn into the beautiful serenity of the whole complex. Our rooms (6225,6227&6231) were just as the photos portray, we had no mini bar though, just water?! This did not bother us, as there is plenty to drink at all other times. The food, in all on site restaurants were delicious and varied. Our first evening we ate in the World buffet, there was fresh salmon, langoustine, beef fillet, chicken dishes, vegetarian choices, the quality of food for a buffet we found to be excellent. You can eat a la carte for lunch (shimmers, steakhouse, fish) we tried all for lunch and dinner plus 2 poolside snack bars (burgers/chicken/Kebab or sandwiches/pasta etc). We loved Shimmers, fantastic sea view, food and wait staff. We also used the lobby bar for tea/coffee & cake in the afternoons from 3.30-5pm part of all inclusive a few times, a nice retreat from the heat of the day. For dinner we tried the tapas (wedding anniversary - very slow service) but food very good, the steakhouse was really delicious all courses incl dessert. My favourite had to be the Asian, excellent food, I had fillet steak cooked to perfection, followed by fried ice cream and bananas. We also went back to the mall - Italian, we paid extra for a few choices, prawn cocktail and shrimp risotto (£4 each) however, all courses were very, very good. We also went back to the Indian, very slow service, food we found to be just ok. They were showing the film The Mummy that evening in the main square, nice touch. We were invited to the manager's cocktail party, however, we did not attend due to restaurant reservation, and as others have said, he has a presence, during the day around the main pool areas etc and is very keen to talk to you. Other guests that we spoke with, had changed rooms, without any problems. We were asked if we wished to move, we overlooked the palace pools, but as we were all together we were happy. The room/bathroom's are stunning, but finishing touches could include slippers/robes and tv does need to be moved, so you can watch whilst in bed. We did email requests in advance, incl request for restaurant for wedding anniversary on the Saturday, this was not met and we ended up eating in the tapas. This did not in any way dampen our holiday experience, we have already said that we will return to the Spa next April. So many guests that we spoke with were on their second, third visits, and planning visiting again. I think that in itself tells you that for value for money it's hard to beat. I just hope that the prices don't increase too much.

Room Tip: Do ask to move room if you are not happy, they try very hard to accommodate all requests. Best are o...

We stayed at the Spa for the second time last week, we stayed for two weeks and had an absolutely fantastic time. As lots of other reviewers have said this is a fantastic hotel, it is hard to say how good it really is.....the best way to find out is to visit and see for yourself!!! As it was our second stay and as we were also planning on getting engaged while we were away we e mailed the hotel before we went and requested a pool view room, they allocated us a beautiful room (6204) which was big and clean with a lovely view of the sea and the pool.

The hotel is not finished but this doesn't really make a huge difference, it is good to have the dine around option but in all honesty since the world buffet restaurant opened along with the other existing restaurants there is no need to even leave the hotel, they cater for everyone even a very fussy vegi like my fiancé. A couple of special mentions for Ahmed Said a chef in the world, after a couple of days he knew what I was going to ask for and how I wanted it, the mark of a professional. As well as the world we tried the steak restaurant which was good but our favourite was the Asian, not only was the food excellent.., the deep fried ice cream was to die for but Abdullah and Esmad who ran front of house were absolutely fantastic, they were friendly but totally efficient and professional, they are an absolute credit to the hotel. At lunchtime we tended to go to the dome in the Makadi Palace (another special mention for the waiter Ibraheim, another total star) on the day we were coming home we discovered Shimmers for lunch, I only wished we had found it sooner it was absolutely brilliant.

The hotel is trying its best to make it a true 5 star hotel, in the evening gents are not aloud to dine in shorts or open toed sandals in any of the restaurants. They have also brought out a policy of not being able to save sunbeds, on several occasions during our two weeks one of the managers would come around before 7am and if people had put down towels but left them he would move them away leaving the beds vacant again, this is an excellent idea in principal but unfortunately in practice it did cause several arguments as once he had moved the towels he then disappeared leaving the new and old occupants of the beds to argue amongst themselves as to whose bed it was.

To sum up this is a lovely hotel whose staff make it absolutely fantastic, everybody was friendly, and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. The only little niggle that I have is the fact that the lobby bar and now the mini bar in your room are both now chargeable. Mr Hansen the manager told us during the 'meet the staff meeting' that the lobby bar was changed because it was 'over subscribed', in our experience both weeks we were there (and on the first week it was 100% occupancy ) the only people using the lobby bar were people using the wi fi, nobody was actually buying a drink! The free mini bar was an added bonus, I know in most hotels the mini bar is payable but we are paying quite a lot of money for a hotel that isn't yet finished (and probably wont be so for another year) so in my opinion they should re instate the free lobby and mini bar at least until the hotel is finished. It is a brilliant hotel but it does still need to compete with others of a similar nature.

Would I go back.....absolutely like a shot, we are now looking to go back in October I just hope they don't out price themselves.
