We have just returned from our 2nd visit to this hotel we stayed for two weeks 20th May – 3rd June and had an absolutely fantastic time, we met some wonderful people, Elaina and Jim, Robert and (Doctor) Patrick, they were great company, I would like to thank the General Manager Mr Gerard Hanssen, and all of his staff for making our holiday with them the best we could have. The food and choice of restaurants has increased considerably , it is still good to have the dine around option but in all honesty since the world buffet restaurant opened along with the other existing restaurants there is no need to even leave the hotel, they cater for everyone.
LOCATION: Half an hour transfer from Hurghada was great. Between the beach and grounds there is a path around the bay so you can wander round the bay and also visit the Makadi Palace and Makadi Grand next door.

HOTEL: Rooms were fabulous, with a very large comfortable bed. The lounge area was great and the balcony good for relaxing on. The pools were wonderful, clean and well designed. The infinity was my favourite but the main pool was huge and good for proper swimming if you wanted.

FOOD: The Cove and the World did great breakfast, Shimmers and the Fish restaurant good for lunch, quite varied. The infinity bar by the pool did a good grill menu, for Dinner the Steak and Fish were very tasty, but the best was the Asian restaurant, the Spanish Taverna was hit and miss I think they should give up on tapas and extend the Asian which I am sure they could fill every night. As for the booze, the beer is fine, the rose wine was the most drinkable. Cocktails were fine too, the Garden Bar was possibly the best, excellent service. The only down side was making the Lobby Bar chargeable, it was free last year and was the heart of the hotel.

SNORKELLING: With beach shoes a snorkel and mask you can snorkel off the beach anywhere. We mainly turned right out of the Spa and walked along then beach and went in the water where it's sandy at the Prima Life resort and the reef from there along to in front of Fort Arabesque was amazing, the water was warm enough to stay in for hours.
GENERAL: Staff very pleasant, you need to remember that English is not their first language and they have to converse with many other nationalities, so be patient, speak slowly and clearly. Housekeeping was very thorough and made an excellent job of cleaning the room. Wifi was available in reception. Visas, as usual we dodged the queue being herded by red sea holidays staff to buy visas and went to the blue bank of Egypt booths on the left when you enter the terminal and paid £11 each, and changed Sterling into small Egyptian note for tipping. Sun rise about 4.50. Sun set about 6pm.
SPECIAL THANKS: Go to the following for going that extra mile to make our holiday special and are an invaluable asset to red Sea hotels;
Gerard Hanssen, General Manager
Ibraheim, Assistant Manager
Ashraf, Beverage Manager
Osama, Barman at the Garden bar,
Last but not least Hany, Bar Manager at the Garden bar, who was one of the nicest people I have ever met.
Finally the Makadi Spa can only continue to excel with the dedicated drive and commitment being put in on a daily basis, we look forward to returning again very soon

We booked with Red Sea Holidays and stayed here for one night before transferring to a one week Nile Cruise then back to the Spa for a week in mid May, all inclusive. The room (suite) on the first night (6330) was enormous, a large lounge and separate bedroom each with access to a huge balcony and its own sun beds. I think we were the first couple to stay in it as they were still fixing the electrics when we arrived. There were two well stocked fridges and two TVs, also two loos. Two sofas and armchairs, coffee tables, plus a dining table and chairs. The only problem was the air conditioning wasn't working and we were melting - but it was only for one night! On our return after the cruise we got a smaller room (a mini suite), but nevertheless still very spacious, and very well furnished with a large balcony and the aircon worked great (it was 40 deg by day and 28 by night). We had an issue with the balcony door lock on arrival which we got fixed even though it was very late. Other than that I can only echo all the positive comments from the other reviewers about the friendly but efficient service throughout the hotel, the quality and choice of food and restaurants, not only at the Spa but also at the Palace and the Grand, the facilities of which were both available to all inclusive Spa guests. A large pool in lovely gardens + infinity pool and lots of choice of sun beds. Great snorkelling and a decent sandy private beach, though a bit rocky right by the hotel. Not all the shops were open or occupied at the Mall, where there are also restaurants and a sports bar. The hotel is still undergoing very discreet mostly internal building work, but you would never know. A very, very relaxing week. We will certainly be back, but next time we will stay for two weeks

We have recently returned from the makadi spa and missing it already.. we had no experience of any problems at all. The food was lovely in all the restauarants (so many to choose from) all of a high standard. The complex it's self is gorgeous and a large majority of guests are english :-) most people we spoke to had been to the makadi spa and back for more.. so that in its self is a good sign of a fantastic complex. Everything you could possibly need is there. I must say that all pool attendants were so so friendly and if you go down with your towells in the morning they lay your sun bed for you.. the service was exceptianally brilliant. The snorkelling is a must here.. the life under the red sea is mind blowing. We also done the sun rise.. we got up at 4am popped to the beach and about 4.45 up come the sun from the sea.. truly amazing. The rooms are gorgeous, showers/bathroom lovely and living room with sofa's and big tv on the wall was great.

We loved this holiday met some great people every one was so friendly and i want to be back there now !!

Just one little bad point was the air conditioning in the room and hotel its self.. needs attention especially as when we left at the weekend it was about 46 and getting hotter by the day.

A perfect holiday - would we go back - YES

Just returned from 2 weeks at Makadi Spa, hotel was excellent, stayed in room 6347 over looking pool, still some works on going but don't let that put you off the sound of a hammer can be quiet soothing!, food was good, best restaurant by far was the Asian, but best waiters by far were Ashley cole and Mahmood Travolta in the Tapas restaurant, they couldn't do enough for you, thank you guys :)
Did the Luxor trip, very long day and to be honest once you've seen one tomb you've seen them all, but it was worth the trip just to listen to the tour guide Emat, very knowledgeable guy and his stories were very interesting, this hotel is great if you just want to fly and flop and do literary nothing , well worth a visit!

I have recently returned from my second visit to the Makadi Spa. First time last October and then again at the start of May. I was pleased to see how much of the building work has now been finished although there is still so much more to go including the Spa itself!! The World Buffet now offers an excellent choice for breakfast and an extensive evening menu. Not being the biggest fan of dinner buffets I was pleased that even with a far larger amount of guests booking for one of the other evening restaurants was never a problem. The standards and service at all the restaurants has also improved not that it was bad in the first place but now for an all inclusive hotel it is better than many restaurants here in England. If you fancy something special Jaspers restaurant offers 5 star service and food - not part of the all inclusive package but for €45 per head it's an experience you will not forget - even down to the chef coming to our table at the end of the meal to discuss the meal and the experience - a very nice touch.
All the rooms are an excellent size with good facilities and private balcony but we took a look at the new pool rooms and jacuzzi rooms they have on offer. These rooms are some of the biggest rooms I have seen in any hotel anywhere in the world (and I have stayed in quite a variety in many countries). Not only are the rooms huge but so are the balconies, equipped with tables, chairs and sun beds but most importantly your very own private pool or jacuzzi. We decided to upgrade to a pool room - being the first guest to stay in one of these rooms. There were a few slight issues but only because the room was just finished. Having a private pool was just so nice - not ideal for those who like to do some serious swimming but lovely for a cooling dip throughout the day and what better way to finish the day.
All in all this is the perfect chill out resort for couples or singles who just want excellent weather and relaxing surroundings with good food and drinks included. We are looking forward to returning again at the end of the year and again hope to meet up with some of the same waiters and staff who welcomed us back on our second visit. It's a added bonus when they genuinely remember you despite the amount of guests they deal with.
