I have just read a previous review of the hotel and I am sure that they are talking about the wrong hotel. This was our 4th stay at this hotel and we arrived home yesterday and we are already looking at booking again next year. We enjoyed it so much that we have booked for our son and his girlfriend to visit on June 6th. We told the reception that he is coming and already they have ensured he will be looked after as are we every visit.

Yes there are lots of Germans and Russians there but if we wanted to see loads of British people we would go to Sharm or Magaluf. This is about us enjoying our time to relax and we managed to speak to various nationalities and found that there is no language barrier especially between the children.

Anyway, where do I start to share my feelings about this hotel.....

Food - There is plenty of varied food, maybe not always to everyone's liking but there are various restaurants around the site that will cater for everyone's needs. We enjoyed the A La Carte restaurants, especially Sofra which was by far the best. We even tried booking one night when it was full and when speaking to the Executive chef he said that if we still wanted a meal there that he would arrange for it to be sent elsewhere in the hotel for us. Where else would you have that service? I even asked Chef Mohamed at the Sunflower to come back to Wales with us to open up a restaurant in Tenby selling authentic Egyptian Cuisine. Thank you Mr Hossam for doing a great job, Food and Beverage Manager.

Reception - Everyone is attentive to your every need especially Mr Mohamed Rabee. As soon as we walked through the doors he rushed over to us to welcome us back with hugs, and throughout our stay he and his team could not do enough to ensure we had everything we needed. Nothing was too much trouble however small.

Room - Superior Suite, spacious, clean and serviced to a very high standard through our stay. There was always a new towel design on the bed for us to admire and always fresh water available.

Pools / Water Park - Well maintained and even better that the biggest water park in Africa is available to use every day if you wish as part of the all inclusive stay. It would cost 65 euros for a family of 4 to go daily if you were on another hotel within the resort. With over 50 slides there was something for everyone, even a baby like me!!

Bars - A large selection of bars including the beach bar, which also offers food as part of the AI. We spent most of our time around the main pool where Big Mohamed runs the Cabaret bar. What a barman. Nothing too much trouble and has a sense of humour just like myself. He and the team under Mr Sharyaf worked tirelessly to ensure all guests get what ever they require. He said to us that every drink he makes he makes it for himself so you know it is going to be good. Even when spoken to rudely by other guests who don't use manners he always had a smile on his face. The Lobby Bar is also nice and relaxing for a cheeky one before dinner and Mustafa is the star of this bar.

Animation - We didn't get involved as much as we usually do because this was just a week break for just my wife and myself and we chose to chill but they still ensured they came over for a chat and asked us to get involved. There are plenty of activities for all to try if you want to. Shady and Tito were stars as was Mido who tried to teach my wife, who has two left feet to dance for over half an hour..... What a brave man. Nothing was too much trouble for this team.

We would personally like to thank all members of Staff for a superb holiday and personally treating us like royalty. Mr Gouda, thank you also for taking the time to make sure we were fine whenever you saw us. This means a lot to us. We look forward to coming back next year with all the children. Thank you all again for a superb week

If you are contemplating this hotel for your holiday and have read some of the negative reports please contact me and I will put your mind at rest. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but for us it is our paradise.

First trip to Egypt and couldn't have picked a nicer hotel. Upon arrival you are made to feel very welcome and looked after which continued throughout our weeks stay.

Rooms are huge and are cleaned every day with fresh towels. Staff at this hotel are lovely, nothing is too much trouble for them. Anastasia from guest relations is about the resort each day and night checking you are having a good time and that everything is ok.

We ate in the Chinese, Italian and grill restaurants. The Chinese was by far the best Chinese food I have eaten, the Italians was also very good and our sons favourite due to the fantastic pizza's. The food at the grill needs to be improved to come upto the standards of both the Chinese and Italians although this is just our opinion which when asked we did mention to Anastasia. We also ate at the Egyptian restaurant when invited by the hotel manager, I wasn't looking forward to this but the food was excellent, just too many courses to get through.

The animation team are great with the kids and work very hard all day and into the evening. Our son Jack had his favourites Shady Tito and Dana who kept him well entertained. Must also mention the guy in the lounge bar (sorry forgot his name), does a great job in remembering everyone's drinks each night and has a great personality. Not to forget Mohammed on reception (big Liverpool fan), again excellent customer service and really nice bloke.

Finally the waterpark is great for the kids and adults, food and drinks here are also part of the all inclusive and it's only a 5 minute bus ride from the hotel.

Would I go back? Already booked for next Easter again and bringing more family with us for a longer stay as a week was just not long enough.

A very clean, good looking and well maintained hotel. We were after a good value Easter break in the heat and this exceeded expectations. Much better than Dubai or Oman (normal haunts around this time of year) for money spent. We were upgraded and had a large family suite due to low occupancy (although the 2nd week we were there was alot busier due to UK school holidays - but still no need to bag sunbeds as plenty available).

The guest relations manager Anastasia was always on the lookout for us and eager to make sure we were happy - in fact all the staff just wanted to make sure we were happy (keen for us to return as many people staying away from Egypt due to the troubles reported in the media in Cairo - although no trouble in Hurghada) Only thing to point out to the Brits reading this, tipping is custom and practice in Egypt (even though it's all inclusive). We tipped if we went to one of the Al la Carte Meals and to Bar Men/Cleaners at the end of the stay. Egyptian pounds are useful for this, although British pounds and Euros are accepted. Other thing is if you don't wanted to be bothered by sales guys offering massages/boat trips etc then go to the quiet Ganzibil pool rather than the main pool.

All in all great relaxing holiday and would certainly recommend and return.

Firstly i would like to say the resort and the hotel was really nice and the staff were very accommodating and helpful.
The room was open and spacious for the 3 of us. the first night we had a minor problem with the 2 double beds. My son wouldn't sleep on his own in a unfamiliar place so we pushed the beds together but the gap between the mattress were too big. We made do the first night, but in the morning we mentioned to Ayman (room service) and in minutes he arrived with a king size mattress! We were immediate impressed!
There is just one issue we had and that was the buffet restaurant which we felt catered for the majority (Germans and the Russian holiday makers). There wasn't much in what we Brits would consider 'continental breakfast' and being accompanied by a very fussy child we had to pack a tin of Heinz baked beans!
Don't get me wrong, if you go all inclusive the unlimited access to the 4 restaurants at the resort are very good. La Grill serve good steak. Nino's Italian has a real good menu. We didn't eat at the Sofra Oriental restaurant but were not satisfied with the asian cuisine at Mukai Tukai. It was easy to organize as you had to reserve the night before at the restaurant of your choice.
The El Shisha bar come restaurant organised entertainment pretty much every night where the animators like Shady and co were bubbly and busy keeping us entertained.
We were 30 km away from Hurghada city where we weren't keen on seeing bazaars or markets as this gets really intimidating and have been to so many of them we just wanted to relax.
If your planning to do any excursions and have a family on board then make sure you bring no less than £500 for managing trips. However if you want to plan a fly over cairo trip than costs £199 per adult and around £140 a child.
As we were running on a tight budget we opted to stay on the resort but were saved with a 5 minute bus ride to the Makadi Water Park. It has slides to cater for both adults and children. This was the saving grace as we didn't do enough homework on keeping ourselves entertained on a small budget.
The Hotel barman Moustafa was polite and friendly and joked all the time with our son. the cocktails are typical in serving local whiskies, rum and vodkas and we found the prices for commercial booze pretty much the same we would pay here in England! Plus the only commercial beer they had was Heinken (probably a favorite of the German customers) so not much of variety there.
There are lots to do in terms of excursions, snorkeling and diving along with the the Water park your not looking for anything to do. Again our slight issue was the buffet and another very small but noticeable issue was the affection the resort/staff showed towards the German and Russian customers. By no means am i trying to make a political statement or damage the reputation of this lovely place we felt the British holiday makers did not receive the same vibe that maybe our European counter parts got. Hence maybe reasons why brits stick to Sharm El Sheikh and eastern Europeans prefer Hurghada.
I couldn't help but notice that the London clock was missing at reception where the clocks of Berlin, Moscow and Cairo hanged!!!!!
To conclude, if i would travel back to Egypt then it would be for Sharm El Sheikh, but take nothing away from Hurghada as it really is a nice place!

Just back from our second visit to the Saraya, how refreshing to see that not only is the place the same high quality holiday resort, but improvements have been made.The staff as per usual were attentive with great customer service skills making our trip both enjoyable and wanting to return. Mustapha in the Lobby Bar entertaining as ever with great help from Mohammed, Kamel at the quiet pool was quality in his service and banter which really made us feel welcome, The two Ahmeds and Ibrahim at the beach bar kept us supplied in our daily trip to the beach which as someone who is not really beach inclined surprised me no end lol. If any Brits want somewhere to go where they will be made totally welcome and looking for somewhere that can provide both top class entertainment and a place to just lay back relax and enjoy no matter what your age then i thoroughly recommend The Makadi Saraya Resort. The managers always take time to meet there clients and to chat about there requirements and if possible they act quickly and without fuss to make your holiday better. The rooms are clean, well kept and quite frankly bigger than anyplace i have been, the towel art is without doubt exceptional, every restaurant the food is well prepared cooked and served with a smile, every bar which there is a few of are well stocked and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Looking forward to our next visit.

It was our second time at Saraya, Makadi Bay. My wife, two children 12 & 9 and I had a great time. Hotel is well organised and friendly. The customer service is outstanding. Bedrooms and suites are cleaned everyday and the cleaning staff create statues made from towels; lovely touch. Food is varied and very good. Good pools and beach. Good variety of entertainment for kids and adults, provided by an excellent Animation Team; special mention to Shady, Tito and Dana. Our kids loved them. Thoroughly recomend.

Room Tip: The suites overlooking the pool are recommended
