Myself and my partner stayed at the Tia Heights from the 30th May 2012 for one week. The hotel is impressive. The common parts are kept very clean. We had a room in the main building overlooking the pool which was very nice. The general manager is a Mr Michael Booker who runs a very efficient ship. All the staff are very eager to please and do everything they can to make your stay great. We had already spent a week on a Nile cruise, but when we do Egypt again we will return to the Tia Heights for at least 2 weeks. The hotel has two resturants in the main building, if you want a quieter meal experience use the Safaga resturant as the main resturant can get very busy. There are other resturants on site. We ate at the Steakhouse which was excellent. The chinese looked good and the italian was also good. You never have to fight for a sunbed on the beach as there are hundreds. We would recommend the Tia Heights to anyone.

Room Tip: Request a room in the main building as these are more convenient for the resturants and bars.

Recently returned from a ten night stay, which was our sixth stay at this hotel. We have been staying at this hotel since xmas 2004. We intend to visit again.
We favour the lagoon rooms, even though they need updating they are spacious with a good size balcony, with views towards the sea.
We love the location with the hotel on the beach, always able to get a sunbed any time of the day. The sea is lovely to swim in, there are also outside swimming pools and also an 25m indoor pool. There is also a gym and spa. The Staff are all lovely and happy to help, greeting us throughout the hotel. A special thank you goes to Chef Mahmoud Mostafa, for looking after us so well in the resturant, who always had something special for us. Looking forward to seeing him again soon. We can't forget Mr Michael who also made our holiday special, encourging us to go to the shisha bar of an evening, and lay back on the cushions and look up at the stars. My husbands' glass was never empty! lol See you all again soon !

I have only good memories from this hotel. Food was really perfect! Every day something new, and everything was really tasty.
First they put us in Dune rooms, but we payed for Lagoone. We came after midnight so we waited till the morning, and they gave us the most beautiful room with the view on most amazing swimming pool and the Sea,
Swimming pool is really huge and clean, and I was spending much time over there.

Animators are great, there is always something to do on the beach, as well in the evening. We were there ALL INCLUSIVE and we didn't have to spend our money at all!

I don't like to go at the same place twice because I would like to visit as many places as possible, but I would definitely come back to this resort.

Room Tip: I would stay away from Dune rooms, because when its hot outside it is a bit far to walk away. It is...

Dear Billiana- Firstly it was great to welcome you all the way from New York City. I was pleased to read your kind comments and am delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. The Lagoon rooms are very popular with many guests as they are spacious for people travelling as a family and are situated in our beautiful garden areas. The Dune rooms are our standard rooms, but are still popular popular with many , but as you say they are situated in an elevated area. The difference in price between our flagship Main Building rooms and the standard rooms is not that high therefore I would advise anyone who is looking for the best to contact their travel provider and get the full details.

I do hope you will visit us again in the future. In the meantime sincere regards from us all at Tia Heights

We've recently returned from a 10 night stay at Tia Heights Makadi Bay. We had such a lovely time, that we are already in the process of booking another holiday in October half term so that we can enjoy it with the kids!

We found the location of the hotel in a perfect location. It has it's own stretch of beach, and has an absolutely massive pool. There were plenty of sun beds on both the beach and by the pool, there was never any need to have to get up early to reserve one!. Though you'd have to be up at the crack of dawn, as a lot of the guests seemed to descend on the breakfast buffet as soon as the doors opened at 7am!

I'm generally a very fussy eater, and I did struggle to find a reasonable meal for me in the main restaurant. We are generally meat and vegetable people. Though I can't fault the quantity of vegetables and salad on offer, there wasn't a lot of meat that I liked. This is a personal preference however, there was lots of choice of meals and meat available. We did have the pleasure of meeting the general manager during our stay. He was most concerned when I explained my lack of taste buds and introduced me to the executive chef (Hashem) to see if I would like anything else cooked instead, such as an omelette. Fortunately that night there was something I was more than happy to eat!!!

There were a couple of a la carte restaurants available and had a lovely meal in the Italian restaurant, which was included in our all inclusive holiday.

All the staff at Tia Heights were brilliant. The animation team never stopped! They were always encouraging the guests to join in their activities, and we're always smiling and had so much energy.

We were given a Dune room, and after reading a few reviews about these rooms i was a little apprehensive, but after seeing our room we were more than happy. The location of our room was at the top of the hill, but we were not put of by a 2 min walk to the pool. If anything, it was nice to walk through the gardens, smelling the lovely flowers. (the hosepipe water however was a different story!). It was quiet and peaceful, the room itself was massive. Our room was cleaned every day. We had our mini bar stocked most days. If we found that we didn't get a water bottle delivery, after letting reception know, we were supplied with bottles almost immediately. After speaking with Mike and the sales manager about wanting to return to Tia with our children, we were shown a couple of room options. Although the main building rooms were well decorated and modern, they were much smaller than the Dune Rooms.

Not only did Tia Heights have a fantastic beach and pool, it also had its own Water park. For a small fee, we had a day in the water park. This also included lunch. It was great fun. We can't wait for our kids to enjoy it in October!

British people were in the minority at Tia Heights, but that should not put travellers off going to Tia. The staff there spoke many languages, and we're always trying to improve their language skills by having conversations with us. We found that being polite to the staff went a long way. Due to the nature of some of the other nationalities, even a smile would get you better service!

All in all, we couldn't have had a nicer holiday, and have recommended Tia Heights to all our family and friends. :-)

We look forward to seeing all the staff in October.

Oooh, just got told off, as have not mentioned the gym and spa! Darren absolutely loved having some time in the gym, it had all the necessary equipment for him to keep up with his training programme. We both also had a lovely spa session. Me a Shihatsui massage, Darren a Thai massage. Great value and service.

Stayed at Tia Heights from 13-20 April 2012 and had a fantastic time. This was our second visit to this hotel, having previously stayed there in May 2010. We’ve been coming to Hurghada for the past 6 years and Tia Heights is by far the best hotel we’ve stayed in and we’re already planning our 3rd visit for next year. We are sisters-in-law (in our 40s) who come away together each year just to recharge our batteries and in our opinion, Tia Heights is the perfect place for doing this.

In 2010, we stayed in a main building room which was great, so we were slightly disappointed with the Dune Room which we were allocated on this visit. This is no criticism on the size or cleanliness of the room; we felt it was in slight need of modernisation plus the view from the room was nothing special. Fortunately we were able to upgrade at a small cost and felt it was well worth paying that little extra. When booking your holiday with your travel agent, it may be worth querying the room type and paying the difference.

Shortly after arrival we met Mike Booker, the general manager, who does a superb job of managing such a huge hotel. All the staff have a lot of respect for him, and this shows in the quality of service from each and every one of them. They all have positive things to say about him.

The beach is gorgeous with plenty of sunbeds and compared to some hotels, you don’t seem to get much hassle from salesmen along this stretch of beach. They are really friendly, but a polite ‘no thanks’ seems to work if you’re not interested in buying any trips or spa treatments.

The pool is the most beautiful pool you will come across. Again, plenty of sunbeds, so no need to be up at the crack of dawn with the towels. We alternated our days between the pool and the beach – because both are so peaceful and relaxing and we wanted to do both!

A special mention to Mahmoud who works by the pool. What a lovely man. He always beat us to our loungers in the morning to lay down our towels and checked on us regularly throughout the day. His little flower arrangements were really special! His English was really good and he often called by for a natter. We used to tease him about the colour of his cap (light blue) and told him he needed a Man Utd cap instead – hence one is in the post to him right now!

Food – There’s plenty of food at all meal times, but we felt the mains were slightly limited to chicken, potato, rice and eggplant. However, we never went hungry. The food was our only slight criticism of the hotel two years ago, but certainly never put us off returning this year – and it hasn’t put us off going back next year.

Our evening meals were eaten mostly in the Safaga Restaurant upstairs, as it had a slightly more relaxed atmosphere. We would dine later in the evening, having let the rush subside. Treat yourselves to the al-la-carte restaurants for a change. We dined in the seafood restaurant on one evening which was fantastic value. The quality and quantity of the plates was amazing. We had a huge plate of grilled king prawns to share with various salads – basket of bread – fruit and ice creams, together with beer served in lovely fluted lager glasses which were constantly being refilled by the waiters! All for less than £10 for the two of us! Thank you to Ahmed and Amr for treating us like royalty! They will also look after you during your ‘elevenses’ at the swim up pool bar!

Drinks - A huge selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available all day and night. We didn’t try everything, but we can recommend the beer, wine, gin and cocktails! The soft drinks and mixers are all branded and we found them to be nice and refreshing during the hot, sunny days! Fanta, Coke and water is provided in the rooms, with the water being replenished each day during your stay.

The animation team are the best we’ve encountered in Egypt. They work so hard from morning until night and try to involve all guests – without being pushy. There were activities on all day long which seemed to entertain people, but we didn’t bother – we went to relax and sunbathe. However, it was good fun when we were asked to judge the ‘Mr Hotel’ on one of the evenings!

The spa is lovely and worth treating yourself. I paid for a full one hour body massage on my first day (£20) and it was amazing. It really winds you down and relaxes you for the rest of the holiday.

The staff at this hotel are so friendly and helpful. They work long hours but always have a smile on their faces, and although they don’t expect tips (like in some hotels), we felt they were worthy of them for the wonderful service which they provided. Even a smile and a ‘thank you’ meant a lot to them.

The Brits are in their minority at the hotel, but this doesn’t bother us (not too proud of the rowdy ‘Brits Abroad’ anyway). The whole area is popular with the Russians and yes, some are very rude in that they don’t know how to say 'please' or ‘thank you’ in the hotel, but we got along with some of them really well this year and even had a bit of banter with them.

Thanks Mike. Your hard work is obviously paying off – it is reflected in all the positive reviews on this site. I can’t believe that Tia isn’t ranked higher. We stayed at another hotel in Makadi Bay last year (ranked 4), and it isn’t a patch on Tia.

Thanks again for a wonderful holiday. See you next year!

Gill & Paula

Room Tip: Rooms in main building recommended as they are more modern and quiet

Dear Gill and Paula- I cant thank you enough for taking the time to write such a positive and detailed review-it is greatly appreciated by us all. I am sure that Mahmoud will be delighted to see his name mentioned on Trip Advisor and also receiving the cap you have sent for him. He like the majority of our staff are great people and delight in pleasing guests.

I noted your comments regarding the Dune Rooms- these are our "entry level" rooms and as such are very reasonable priced. We intend to renovate these shortly, however our Main Building rooms are nearing completion of renovations and are truly modern and high quality with flat screen TV's etc. I personally try to encourage guests to pay between $10 and $15 per room per day supplement to upgrade from Dune to Main Building as its a little price to pay for the extra luxury.

With regards to the food, we offer several choices of main course each day at both lunch and dinner. In the past week I have noticed lamb, beef and veal on the menu as well as fish, chicken and vegetarian options. We buy our meat fresh and due to our location on the coast, we have to reply upon what is in the market on any given day.

In general, I am delighted you had a great time here and are thinking of returning again. I certainly look forward to welcoming you again.

Sincerely

This is our 2nd visit to Tia Heights and we will go back AGAIN. As with our previous review (Nov 09 - see more detailed review if interested) this resort is still EXCELLENT Value For Money. You really cannot fault the wonderfully friendly staff, service, entertainment, facilities, rooms or food etc for the price !!!! A Big Thank You to all, with a Special Thanks to Mike Booker (General Manager) who was extremely helpful in many ways and even came to see us off after dashing off to 'save a drowning Russian' - Mike I have now christened the 'pressy' - Cheers!!! And a further mention of Thanks to Hashem Mohamed Hashem (Executive Chef) who personally cooked us our lunch on our final day !! Wonderful food !! On a final note for those wishing to go to Egypt and meet civilised Russians for a nice change (still loud but hey !!?), for some reason this resort this time was not shown on the usual websites and I had heard from someone else who had also wished to return to this resort; they had been told the resort was fully booked. They also checked and this was not the case. So this resort is being 'bumped' off the usual UK search websites for some reason !!? Anyway I checked its availability and available flights as we wanted to return there, then called our usual travel agent who booked it all for us ...... and it was Well Worth The Effort !!!!! p.s did I mention the pool .................. MASSIVE and even better still HEATED, unlike many other resorts where noone swims as far too cold !!?! Its not much fun just looking at an inviting pool when baking in the sunshine which we have done at other resorts. Cheers again Tia Heights and Cya again !!! MikE

Dear Mike and Nichola- very many thanks for taking the time to write such a positive review following your stay with us. This is much appreciated . I am sure our Exec Chef Hashem will be pleased to receive a mention too. As you mentioned, our staff are excellent and we are very lucky as they try so hard to please and are friendly even when put under considerable pressure of high levels of business in a very hot climate! I have noted your comments about the difficulties you experienced in booking and if anyone is reading this review and is thinking of staying at Tia Heights, please do not hesitate to email me at the address below if you have any difficulty booking and we will be delighted to help you. There are regular flights to Hurghada, so there should not be a problem as we have plenty of availability at this time and during the course of the year there is not usually a problem.
