“Awesome hotel with amazing staff”
Reviewed 28 March 2013

My husband and I spent a week at the sunrise royal in makadi bay for our 10th wedding anniversary. This hotel is fantastic in every way. It's clean and tidy. The food is fabulous and the ability to eat at the al a carte restaurants as often as you like is brilliant. The staff work constantly day and night to ensure your holiday is everything you want it to be. The special mention goes to the animation team. Ibza, mando, John, Marley, buka, mido and Gigi to name a few. You guys made our holiday fabulous and we will definitely be back to see you very soon. By the way John, Tony Blair says hi! Hope you guys are well and keep doing the wonderful job that you do. Xxx I really recommend this hotel for everyone, singles, couples and families. Xxx

Arrived at the hotel and check in was swift and our luggage was loaded on to a cart and we frove off to our room. I knew there was a problem as soon as we strted to head towards the back of the hotel. I took one look at the room, a pokey double with no view and a balcony that would accomodat two small people. I said, no way and we retruned to reception. I had booked a "run of the house" room which entitles you to a better room , if they have one. The receptionist was great and moved us to block 38 which is just around the corner from reception. Big room with 2 queen size beds and great balcony. The guy showed us how everything worked and then we went down for dinner. The food was not good, but we put that down to the fact that we arrived very late, but upon mentioning it , all hell broke loose. There were staff coming form every corner including a really nice lady from guest relations. They could not do enough for us and this contiuned throughout the entire holiday, They constantly checked if we were happy with EVERYTHING, I could not fault the staff at this hotel and a special mention to Ehab who sorted out my internet conection and went out of his way to make sure everything was good ,(Internet can be purchased for £27.00 for 6 days use). Excellent manager at the Asian restaurant,,,,, buy the way , if you eat no where else , make sure you go there. Great food and good service. The main restaurant can become very crowded with a lot of very rude Russians, but once again the staff are so well managed that things run very smoothly. Have your breakfast in the mexican restaurant. again very quite and the most friendly staff every morning. I must alos mention the little lad who cleaned our room, 38304, such a credit to the hotel.
There is a great breeze on the Hurghada side and you will need it in the heat, There is a pool located across the road from reception (+ kids pool) , this area is so much quieter.
One tip: There is a shuttle bus to Hurghada for the marina and shops. If you want to shop, go by taxi to Safaga Road and there are loads more shops there.
Well that is about it from me.... I would say , do not hesitate to book this hotel, we will be going back in November.

Room Tip: ask for block 38,not too far to walk.

Having just returned on 26th March from my third visit to this hotel I was not disappointed. This is a lovely place to go for a relaxing time in the sun. I simply cannot fault the place. It is a large complex with something for everyone, the rooms are spotless, the food is good with plenty of variety and choice, from the cleaner to the animation team and beyond ALL of the staff are keen to make sure that you have a good stay and simply can't do enough to ensure that you do. Previously I have been with my husband and this time I went with a female friend. It is a friendly and safe destination with no hassle. A great place to go and I am sure I will return in the future, I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for a stress free holiday in the sun.

Room Tip: I have had a different room on each stay and they have all been to the same standard.

Me and my wife went here for our honeymoon and we would like to express how well the staff looked after us especially the animation team , there energy and friendliness made this holiday one of the best I have ever been too the hotel, beach, and surroundings were ideal but I must still say it would not have been the same without the animation team who went that extra mile too make sure it was unforgettable so I would just like to say thanks especially too ahmed and John and the rest of the team

We visited this hotel in February 2013, our first visit to Egypt and were impressed from the outset. The staff just couldn't do enough for you and work so hard round the clock, from the cleaners and gardeners to the chef's and waiters, they were all so friendly.
We particularly enjoyed using the heated family pool and the kids loved the octopus slide. The towel man and barman there were excellent and really looked after us .A really special mention goes to Mohammed from family pool bar 1 ( by the slides) who really took a shine to our family. He excelled in looking after us for lunch and also when we visited the T-bone restaurant in the evening. We hada fantastic last night there with some great new friends. The kids club was also a real bonus for us as we expected it to be shut. The 2 Thomas Cook reps (Matt and Emma) who stayed on for the 2nd week to keep the kids club open also deserve a special mention. Our kids loved the kids club and made loads of friends there. It also gave us a few valuable hours of relaxation. The a la carte restaurants were excellent, especially the T-bone, asian and the around the world. There was so much to do there if you wanted to or you could just relax and soak up the sun. Finally our room cleaner was very artistic, he started with cobras made from towels and ended up with a large crocodile. We will be back to the Sunrise Royal Makadi as soon as possible .

Room Tip: Blocks 34-36 are right by the heated family pool, ideal in February when the wind blows a bit

Wonderful holiday with plenty to do. Really needed a break from work and the snow in UK and this holiday was perfect for that. Perfect weather. Good quality and choice of food. Animation team excellent - always on hand to make sure you aren't bored. Hotel seems ideal for families. Always sun loungers available. Thomas Cook package definately good value. Trips very good.

We returned on the 22nd march after a 10 night stay . This hotel is a definite recommend to anyone who is wanting plenty of sun and nice food . The staff and management cannot do enough for you , nothing is too much trouble and staff will push for you to complain if something is not quite right so they can make thing better in the future !
This hotel stands out above others we have been too due to the selection of alacarte restaurants that are available, we did the Asian (the best ) the steak house (very good ) and also the Mexican (also very good ) if we hadn't had the alacarte restaurants we may have struggled for 10 nites in the buffet but that's why the alacarte s are brilliant ..
The animation team are visible throughout the day and night and are very friendly but not pushy as we have found in other hotels .
At the main pool there is a changing station that also doubles as a library where people will leave there books and magazines, don't forget your red flag to keep the sellers away when sunbathing. There are two types of sun beds around the pool one very comfortable and the others that give you back ache after half an hour .
For people who like to use the gym whilst away there is an excellent one at the sunrise with a good range of equipment .
The snorkelling is defiantly better at the fort arabesque beach but is only a 2 min walk away worth a visit .
The service in all restaurants and bars was good but could at times be very slow on an evening in the 24hr bar in reception .

Room Tip: If wanting to be away from the main reception etc rooms in block 30s are better but if you are wanti...
