I can well understand why this hotel has so many repeat visitors. This was our first time here and we had a fantastic holiday. From hotel transfer car to check-in to departure and everything in between, every member of staff was exceptional. Transfer waiting at arrivals for us. Check-in was smooth and friendly. There was a slight issue with our booking and were told to go and have our meal first while the reception sorted it out, nice touch. The receptionists were very efficient and helpful even allowing me to check-in for a flight and print boarding passes from their office behind.
Rooms – We stayed in block 14 very central, near reception and only a short walk to anywhere in the resort. Spacious and cleaned to a very high standard. Room attendant was very friendly. Mini bar was stocked with soft drinks and plenty of water, water was replenished daily. Had a kettle with tea and coffee also replenished daily. Air conditioning worked great and kept the room lovely and cool.
Toiletries looked to be of a good quality if you need to save space in your cases, we had our own. Towels and bedding changed daily.
Grounds - Very well maintained with the gardeners and cleaning staff working non-stop keeping it this way. Flowers and gardens were beautiful throughout. We used the local spray OFF and only one mozzie bite. Didn’t really see any mozzies around.
Restaurants – Only ate our evening meal once in the main restaurant but the variety of food was fantastic. The Al a Cartes was the main reason we booked this hotel, we weren’t disappointed. You book the restaurants through a touchscreen system in the reception area and can do this three days in advance. Food was excellent in all of the restaurants but the Asian was our favourite. Beautiful omelettes every morning for breakfast in the main restaurant. We had lunch every day in Around The World, lovely food, great service with drinks, peaceful and so well air-conditioned, well needed at that time of the day in the heat.
There are also snacks at the Pergola bar all afternoon, soup, burgers, pizzas etc… you can even get snacks in the main restaurant at midnight, proper all inclusive.
Bars – Staff are so friendly and keep you well supplied. Found the drinks to be good, the Pergola had a lovely buzz around it and DH rarely had to go to the bar, drinks brought straight down to us. The Lobby bar made some fabulous cocktails and was always our last stop of the night.
Free wifi around the Pergola but could be slow. I bought 3gb for my ipad in the hotel shop and found this to be brilliant. Haggle the price for everything here.
Pools – really big, beautiful and kept so clean. We didn't have any problems finding sunbeds at any time of the day. Though I do think for the size of this hotel, management could have a look at having a quiet pool for all, not just for entitled or VIP guests only, I found that to be a strange one. Although I love kids it would have been nice to be able to get away from the noise for a while. There was a lifeguard was on duty at all times by the pools.
Beach – I felt it was a bit cramped, the windcheaters give the impression of less space and block the view of the beautiful sea. We never had a problem getting a sunbed here either. There is a little bar at the beach for soft drinks, teas, coffees and beer. To get water was good as no need to queue, there is a fridge beside the bar so just help yourself. Same in the Pergola.
Tip: Bring our own lilo with you if you can, rip off prices for them at the beach. Three times the price of home. Same for the kiddies inflatables. Sun creams are also very expensive, bring plenty.
We used the dive center attached to the hotel down by the beach for diving (PDL) and found Adam and the lads to be great. Nice boat with good food and good dive guides.
Snorkelling from the hotel next door, the Fort Arabesque was amazing, beautiful coral and plenty of fish. Just don’t bring anything onto their beach and leave it while snorkelling as it will be removed.
Good chemist on site down by the beach if you need anything, don’t forget to haggle hard. Antibiotics started at €20 but haggled down to €10.
Check out was smooth and fast, best of all no add-ons to the bill as it truly was all inclusive and we were sorry to be leaving.
I have left the best till last… The Animation Team. I really hope management realise how lucky they are to have such a fantastic bunch of genuine friendly people. They are the front line for the hotel. From morning until late night they work tirelessly entertaining and helping the guests, even assisting when we couldn't get a booking for a particular restaurant. I have never seen such dedication from a team on any previous holidays anywhere. If you don’t want to take part in the many activities the team provide they don’t hassle you, but will still stop to have a chat and offer any help or advice you might need. Shows put on every night in the amphitheater. They even come up to reception on their time off to wave goodbye to the guests. There are too many to thank individually but Natalie & John please pass our thanks to the whole team for making our holiday as fantastic as it was.
