I have just returned from Egypt and I cannot find a single bad thing to say about the hotel. The staff are amazing so friendly and helpful, remember to treat them as you would like to be treated and you will receive 5 star service. Remeber these people are not well paid and should be treated with the upmost respect. We took my Mum (63) and it was her 1st holiday abroad and she loved it, yes we all had a turn with the dodgy tums but this was due to the heat and nothing else! Food was fantastic but we avoided the Main restarant due to the rudeness of other countries!!! Go to Round The World and you will be treated like a long lost friend. Loved the A La Cartes shame that the Bedouin Tent wasnt open. Do the Desert Safari what fun that was and say hi to Abdul from us. Glass bottom boat is a must aswell especially if you dont snorkel. Mum and I did the day trip to Luxor HOT! 49 degrees at the Valley of Kings but well worth the trip it will blow you away. This was such a fantastic holiday and we cried when we had to come home. Special mention to Saed at the Towel Centre what a gentlman. Also to Mohammed and staff at the pool bar what great guys and to Ahmed at the Pergola bar, he knew what we were drinking by day 2 and never got it wrong. We didnt tip at all until the end of the holiday we found if you are polite and friendly you will have no need to do this, the Egyptians love the polite!!!! English. We walked around smiling for the whole 2 weeks the place was fantastic and the weather was HOT HOT HOT!

Me and my partner came to the sunrise last aug, (just havent got round to writing a review)

When we arrived we were all shown to a room where we were all given a drink and then split in to groups and shown to our rooms.

Our room was fantastic, the bathroom was lovely with a spacious shower, the balcony was lovely with a lovely view, we has a mini fridge in which we were provided with bottled water everyday and 6 bottles of fizzy pop once a week.

The pools were lovely, we found a small pool by the beach, which we practicly had to our self i think there were 7 of us around it, its out of the way and also an adult only pool so we had no screaming kids just peace and quite. we could access the beach as and when i liked and same with the pool, we could have come at an y time and guranteed that there would be enough beds.

We went on a camel ride which was worth the money but would do this again as we just didnt enjoy the ride( personal taste nothing to do with the trip) we also took a boat ride which we book with the guys at the end of the beach where you book your boat trips, water sports etc.
We paid about £50 each (less for children) we went with our friends and had the boat to our self 5 adults and 2 children went on this trip, well worth the money, they provided us with masks and snorkells and took us out to the coral, we were taken to an island, and was provided with a buffet style lunch, which was fantastic, they crew were amazin very funny kept us entertained all day made sure we had something to do at all times. Would advise booking with these as they will make the day worth while.

The food was excellant, if you are going away and expecting burger and chips, and pizza etc dont go here, its all fish, meats, etc fantastic food cannot fault it, different choice every day, my partner is a very fussy eater and he had no complaints for the 2 week that we were there there is loads of pasta all different fish, meats think i only saw chips a few times . if you have read any complaints about the food i would take no notice what so ever there is nothing wrong with the food these are just people expecting english foods.
On the first night we all ate on the beach to welcome us, that was lovely.

Not much entertainment but we went to a bar called the victoria bar where we played pool chess darts etc also we could watch the football there.

gardens are lovely kept clean, the staff work very hard, couldnt fault them, we had one waiter all holiday he was amazing, on our first night we tiped our waited roughly £3 or something, every day til the end of the holiday, he reserved us a table, he knew what drinks we wanted and had them ready for us, and when we finished they were filled up straight away, when we left we and our friends tiped him roughly £30 in which he was very grateful for as they arent paid very much and rely on tips.

When you arrive in the airport be aware of local residents walking around, they will try taking your suitcases off you and taking them to the coach, however they then demand a tip so just say firmly No! We took this advise and said no when we got to our coach there was a man stood at the side he put our cases on and as we turned away he tapped us on the shoulder held out his hand and he had a £2 coin in it, he wanted £2 for picking our cases up and putting them on the coach!! we thought he was the coach driver that is why we handed our cases over however dont be fooled.

overall we had a fantastic holiday and would recommend to any one !

My husband and I have just arrived from our holiday to Sunrise Royal Makadi and on our opinion this is a 3 * hotel at its very best.
Food : all food tastes the same, smells the same ( bad)... and it took as quite some time to actually find what we wanted as the restaurant was poorly lighted.
Drinks : all watered ( from juices to cocktails )
Room : we were given a small room 33201, with twin beds , and with the worst view ever ( the back of the restaurant where the staff used to eat) and after tipping the guy from the reception we got a similar room, in the same building, but with " king size bed" , over looking another room building.
Stuff : 90% of the stuff were very helpful, but the other 10% very very rude ( for example the bartender from the beach bar)
Beach: The SRM beach was small and its reefs were not so nice , so we used the Fort Arabesque aria ( only 1 min away) to go snorkeling ..... FANTASTIC - I have never seen so many beautiful fishes in my life
Pool : looked very nice....but dirty on the bottom
Entertainment: I don't think they know what that is ...
All in all I will never ever go back to this hotel, nor I would ever recommend it to anyone.

We stayed here from July 21st to Aug 4th. This hotel had all we wanted for a relaxing holiday. From the moment we entered the lobby we were made extremely welcome and were given a lovely room. Every member of staff was happy and willing to help in any way.The food was fabulous in both the buffet restaurant and the a la carte restaurants. There were plenty of sunbeds around the pools and never a problem trying to get one on the beach. All areas were kept clean and maintained well.Yes we got "funny tummy" but I think that is part and parcel of extreme heat and different foods, NOT poor hygiene or bad food.A trip to the chemist for our equivalent of imodium (although theirs is MUCH better) soon put us back on track. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Our thanks and good wishes to all the hotel staff and Vanessa our holiday rep.

Read reviews before we went and were not sure what to expect. Found all the food buffet and al la carte restaurants gave plenty of choice and variety. Breakfast were good never had a problem getting a table at any time. Spent most of our time by the family pool lots of room and no problems getting a bed right up to lunch time. Did the beach a couple of times and again no problems getting a bed, snorkelling at the Fort Arabesque was fantastic only 5 mins walk. We were on the 2nd floor in block 10, room was a good size with plenty of space and a good size bathroom. Swimming pool cold at first but you soon get used to it ! Pool bar very good and pizza's excellent. We were only ill for one night and didn't need to go to the chemist. Drink lots of room temperature water and stay out of the sun during the hottest period of the day ie 12 - 3 also avoid to much alcohol in the hot sun ! and you will be fine. We have already booked to go back in May next year .

Went for two weeks to the Sunrise in July 2009. I have stayed in many hotels around the world and would put this in the top five for cleanliness, staff, food and a great holiday.
Getting through the airport can be a bit of a nightmare, especially if more than one plane has come in, in a small space of time. The hotel it's self is large but not over whelming. The reception is beautiful with big comfy sofa's and marbel floors. We were given a cold drink on arrival and taken to our rooms within 15 mins. We were in block 10 over looking the family pool. The room is huge with plenty of storage space, a digital safe(foc), small fridge, individually controlled air con and a lovely bathroom with walk in shower. The rooms are cleaned and the sheets changed every day. We stayed mostly at the family pool as we had two eight year old girls, who couldn;t bear to miss out on the water slides. The slides are on every day from 10-12 and 3-5, which is great and means you can tear the kids away for lunch and a bit of time out of the mid day sun. The sunloungers are clean and quite comfy. The towels you get from the towel centre were always clean and readily available. The food served at this pool is bascially pizza (made in front of you), chips, hotdogs and burgers. They do a better choice at the main pool bar or the buffett restaurant at lunch. We were quite happy with what was on offer as were our children. The pool bar is lovely and Mohammed and Yaher kept our drinks filled all the time. They really can't do enough for you. We tried all the restaurants and loved the Asian, although the menu is quite small. When we weren't booked in the al a carte restaurants (which was really easily done by going to the Victoria pub between 10-11) we used to eat in the Round the World restaurant. The food was lovely and was being cooked in front of you. There was always a choice of chicken, beef, pasta and different breads. My daughter can be a little fussy at times but she always found something she liked. Our children esp liked the fact they could go up and get as much ice cream as they wanted! The staff in this restaurant were wonderful. Asstma(sorry if thats spelt wrong) loved our little girls and always made a special trip to our table to talk to them. Ali the chef was wonderful and again became a visitor to our table when ever we went in. And then there was Ahmed. The doe eyed waiter, who was rather sweet but never overstepped the mark. We really enjoyed their company and they were all hardworking individuals who wanted to make sure you enjoyed your time in their restaurant. Beware the guy who does the beautry salon, he may try to rip you off. Don;t pay more than 200 EP to have your hair braided! The evening entertainment was what you would expect, a few dance shows, a man trying to torture himself in the name of entertainment and the animation team putting on a show. We were quite happy to sit and watch or sit around the bar with out drinks letting the children play with their new friends. The only grip I have is that the childrens entertainment is mostly in German or Russian. I did speak to someone about it and they did try to make a bit more of an effort. Our girls didn't really mind and still got up and learnt the dance moves! Apprarantly as from next year there will be two english speaking kids club reps! The Thomas Cook Rep- Vanessa was really lovely. I got the dreaded stomach upset (which if you do as suggested and get medication from next doors pharmacy, will last 12-24 hours) and she re arranged our trip for us as I didn't want to take the chance I might still be poorly the day we had paid to go. She was really helpful, informative and was always ready with a smile and a wave.
I have read lots of reviews on here regarding the stomach problems and can say that no one else in our party got it. It's not the food or anything to do with cleanliness of the hotel, otherwise we would of all gone down with it. It's just one of those things, if you are going to get it, you will. Just go with the advice given and you will be over it in no time.
We had a fantastic time at this hotel. The weather was fantastic, the service brilliant, the hotel spotless and the wine/beer plentiful. I can't recommend this enough, if you are looking for laying around the pool all day and just relaxing with a drink in the evening.
We will definately be returning!

When we first arrived at the Sunrise Royal we were overwhelmed by the size of it as it is huge, but dont let first impressions put you off.

The service that we recived upon arrival was very quick and efficient and we were shown to our room within minutes.

Our rooms were excellent cleaned everyday to a very high standard, the maid even made towel animals and left them on the bed which i thought was a lovely touch!

The pools were excellent and even though its a huge hotel none of the pools were ever really busy, yes ok people did reserve loungers around the main pool very early but you get this at every hotel, and even if you went down later on in the day you could still find a lounger especially at the family pool, which is the pool with the slides!

The main buffet restaurant was fine, sometimes the labeling could have been better but this seemed to imporve later on in the holiday. There was a variety of food to choose from at Breakfast Lunch and dinner and we never went away feeling Hungry. We ate at the Italian and Asian a la carte restuarants which were both very nice, i would deffinately reccommend the asian A la carte. If you dont want a big meal and luch or just want snacks these are also provided at the pool bars between certain times, they serve chips, burgers, hot dogs, salads, ice cream, so there really is something for everyone.

We booked a few excursions through the Thomas cook rep Vannessa who was extremely helpful and very efficient. I would deffiantely reccommmend cairo by flight, its a very long day but you do get to see the real Egypt.

The Entertainment team at the hotel, were very good and worked very hard they have shows every nihgt in the amitheatre which are good for a bit of entertainment, some of the shows were better then othrs though!!

I would have no hesitation reccommending this hotel to anyone, the sevice was great and everyone working there was very chatty and freindly and made you feel very welcome!

we all had a great time and would deffinately go back!
