I spend a week with my familly in Fort arabesque, and it was really great, nice place, not crowded, verry friendly staff, tha buffet food is excellent, a lot of animation, and a wonderfull beach with many free kayak a catamaran, and underwater fantadtic corals fish, ray, turtles sometimes. the beach is even used by clients from other hotels and resort as it is the most beautiful on the bay. They also have a verry nice diving center, and we made fantastic dives. really recommeneded. I'm new to trip adviser. Nice hotel. Great location next to the Red Sea. Food ok. Just spent our time snorkelling. Fantastic!

Aircon In rooms not the best, once the Egyptian sun had been beating down all day it wasn't up to the task.

we stayed for 5 night, food and drinks quality was good, room service is below normal as our room air condition was not working properly, staff is not at the targeted level especially in the restaurant. Location generally is good, Animation team was interesting and nice.

This was our second visit. We have never returned to a resort before. I have read other recent reviews on here and can only say this - WE HAD A GREAT HOLIDAY HERE- don't want to tell you about it - since it will get too crowded. Holidays are what you make them - some people are never happy - this is Egypt and sometimes things are a little different. We did not experience and problems at Hurghada airport on the way in - we had, had a small diversion on the way (not the operators fault) and were late arriving.
The hotel had put plates of bread, cheese etc and fruit in our room - very welcome after such a long day. This year our room was in the West Wing - newer, smarter than the East ( but still ok) - easy access to the quieter beach on that side. The gardens were much smarter than last year - wonderfully kept. Food is fine - no stomach problems. Yes it is mostly the same - BUT - one day have a salad - another have a hot meal - surely people at home don't et the same menu every day? All the bars were great fun! Drinks available from water to local spirits all day. Pay for cocktails - get them made in the main hotel bar - the manager knows his recipes!
All the staff were very friendly - gardeners, beach and bar staff - and we were remembered from last year by those still working there. Animation team was better & friendlier than last year - but we only went once to the evening entertainment - we were too tired. Plenty of space to walk out past the hotel, places to snorkel from the beach - or further around the coast.
Never a problem finding a bed. Never a problem from sales people on the beach - a polite "no thanks" is good enough.
The Thomson Rep - Ramy - was excellent & very knowledgeable.
What more can I say - don't go here - I don't want too many people filling it up! <bg>- JOKE !
Only go here if you want a nice quiet beach holiday with swimming, snorkelling and little else.
(You can take a trip into Hurghada - went there many years ago - not so sure I want to go again in a hurry.)
Enjoy!

Room Tip: Wifi - paid for in reception areas only. West Wing - newer.

We stayed at the Fort for two weeks and returned home on the 28th June 2014.

After flying for some 5 and 1/2 hours with Thomson with no entertainment apart from the cabin crew selling drinks and snacks, (no meals with Thomson!), we arrive at Hurghada airport. Now the fun begins.
Total chaos!
Toilet cleaners block entry to the toilets unless you tip them.
Men grabbing you and trying to herd you into various queues to buy visas.
The official price for an entry visa is $25.
One of the bank booths insisted on either euros or pounds and refused US dollars.
We later learned that some passengers were bullied into paying as much as £25 each.
After again queuing this time to have passports checked and collecting your luggage you exit the terminal.
You are welcomed to Egypt by a team of slightly disinterested reps who check your names and give you a coach number and a wave in the general direction of some 50 coaches parked in line.
If you survive the trek across the coach park, complete with luggage, find the right coach, you are certainly ready for a holiday!

Well that's the moan over.
Lets start the holiday!

From the outside Fort Arabesque is not the prettiest hotel in Makadi Bay. In fact it looks a little like Alcatraz Prison without the sea frontage.
However on entering the reception area you are greeted with smiles, a cold drink and air conditioning!
Heaven!

Check in was painless and efficient.

We were taken to our room in the West Wing. We knew straight away that we would not be happy with it. It was on the ground floor, dark, and looked out over bushes to a garden area.
We did not unpack and paid the next morning to move to a better room on the top floor. 20 euros per night extra. Huge bed, great view, a balcony, tea and coffee. Well worth the money.

The rooms are cleaned daily, towels changed, the mini bar re stocked with water and soft drinks, and the safe is free.
Soap, shower gel and shampoo is supplied. So if you are not fussy, you don't need to bring any with you.

For an 'all inclusive', the meals were of a very good standard, with plenty of choice. Huge salad bar, Plenty of hot meat and fish choices. The bread is freshly baked, the butter is Lurpak. The tomato ketchup Heinz. A waiter serving you with a soft drink or a glass of wine with your meal. What more could you want?
It has been said the meals got a bit repetitive after 2 weeks, but I certainly didnt mind eating the same meal twice. Especially something I liked!

We spent most of our time on the beach. Usual pestering from the spa, trips etc. sales people. Plenty of sunbeds and crystal clear water. There are a number of coral reefs just off shore, some within wading distance. This led my OH to snorkel for the first time in her life. It really is brilliant to see so many species of highly coloured fish. You must try it.
As well as your sun cream make sure you bring a mask and snorkel. You wont regret it.

On the beach, there is a bar with a cool cabinet for drinks. Not too surprising, but you can help yourself to cans of Stella, Heineken, Fanta, Sprite, Coke, all original branded stuff. First hotel in Makadi Bay that we have stayed in that this happens.
You can also help yourself to mini magnum type ice creams, which we did several times per day.

Evening Entertainment??? Amphitheatre - Sorry. No comment.

We met some really nice people.
Joyce.
Mick and Mavis.
Roger and Leslie. Sorry that we didnt get much of a chance to say goodbyes in the chaos at the airport.

A thank you to Rammi the Thomson rep., who was both very knowledgeable and helpful.
Also a thank you to all the hotel staff.

We have stayed in several hotels in Makadi Bay over the last few years, so, would we go back to the Arabesque?

If worsening fiasco at Hurghada Airport could be sorted definitely yes. If not no.
This is no refection on the Fort Arabesque or its staff, which provided a very good holiday, and was very good value for money.

We have stayed at Fort Arabesque Resort on a number of occasions (this is the only holiday resort to which we have ever returned). This year we stayed in June/July and – again - had a brilliant holiday. Over the past seven years we have stayed at resorts in Taba, Marsa Alam and Hurghada – all 5*/4*+ - and enjoyed each holiday. Fort Arabesque Resort, however, is by far our preferred choice.

The general areas of the hotel, reception areas, bars, lounges, beach bar/restaurant, shopping areas etc are always comfortable and well looked after. The resort grounds and gardens are extremely well tended and in excellent condition (particularly in view of the climate). We particularly enjoy the beach bar/restaurant, which also shows sport on the TV through the day. We have stayed previously in the older accommodation which was fine and only strides away from the beach, but this year stayed in the New Wing. The older accommodation suited us fine (large, albeit dated), but the accommodation we had this year was excellent, larger still, with two king size beds, a settee, large TV (showing all the World Cup matches!) etc., and a larger bathroom.

The food (as mentioned on various reviews) in the self-service restaurant is always good – starters are varied - and there is always at least three choices of meat and several of fish, together with different vegetables cooked in various ways, pasta dishes, a wide range of salad dishes, soups, crepes, and a number of speciality dishes (from different countries). Plus pastries, fruit and various cheeses etc. There are other restaurants with specialised menus which can be reserved in advance. There are a number of pools around the resort and a swim-up bar at the main pools area. We have never experienced any stomach problems of any type whilst at Fort Arabesque. We did at a couple of other resorts we visited (not all), but it was always quickly remedied.

We have always found all the staff who worked across Fort Arabesque to be helpful and polite, particularly those who tended the rooms (and made marvellous towel sculptures – amongst which was a five foot crocodile and a ‘mummy/pharaoh’ figure). Those who worked in the restaurants, open air lounge/bar areas and in the beach bar were always courteous, friendly and helpful. We cannot fault the staff in any way.

We often spent evenings in the Sunset bar, which has different musicians/singers performing each evening. During our visit this year, Natalia, was the resident entertainer. She was excellent – had a brilliant voice and was fluent in a number of languages. Her range of music/songs was huge and she could ‘cover’ a wide range of musical tastes, from more recent to older selections. She had a really good personality and could interact with her audience. She was extremely professional and very, very good.

Fort Arabesque beach/bay is the best we have seen in Egypt and the coral and aquatic life (accessible from the beach) is probably second to none. We snorkel each day (several times a day, usually) and are constantly amazed at the variety of fish and aquatic life that can be seen – from the tiniest fish swimming in huge shoals to extremely large fish (often in shoals), not to mention the squid, octopus, etc. Whilst walking in water roughly three foot deep we saw a huge fish, approximately four foot in length on the shallower coral! We have been on boat trips in Egypt to various bays/areas of interest, but although we really enjoyed the trips etc., and they were good value for money, the coral and fish to be seen at the various places we have visited have never equalled that available from the beach at Fort Arabesque. Exception are (the seas) at Marsa Mubarek and Elphinstone Reef.

We have had another brilliant holiday at Fort Arabesque and hope to visit again.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of June for 2 weeks, hotel itself is beautiful with its gardens surrounding the whole complex. It has several pool areas, you have the choice of peaceful, light music or lively where the swim up bar pool is which was nice to be able to choose. Beach was gorgeous, always found two sunbeds no matter what time we went down there, snorkeling was amazing, i saw more fish here than in the Maldives, the fish came right up to your goggles :-)!! Bar staff were very friendly and got on very well with them, the singers were good in the sunset bar and was very relaxing in eve, one of the singers who i annoyingly cant remember his name was brilliant and tried to get you up to dance and was so friendly. Room was a decent size, had two doubles and a garden/patio at the front. Here are my cons, you were constantly harassed by people on the beach and by the pool trying to get you to go on trips, some were fine with just saying no but others would not leave you alone, i found one of the salesmen who called himself 'black mohammed' to be very rude. Food variety was quite poor compared to other all inclusive resorts we have been to, alot of beef and fish, both my partner and i got 'Egyptian tummy' while we were there, we both had it for nearly the whole duration of the holiday using 2 packs of Imodium, we also spoke to alot of other couples there that also suffered with this. Alcohol choice was again limited to what we have experienced before, only had 5 spirits and no cocktails included in the AI, you had to pay extra for this.
