“Tasty curries....but!”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

Goods:

-The sauces/curries and generally everything tasted great!
-The waiter was decent and welcoming. He also offered us free Pappadum and yoghurt salad.
-The place is clean and relaxing.
-Good curry portion.

Cons:

-I stressed that I need the chicken pieces to be purely white meat which didn't happen and was pretty inconvenient.
-I personally haven't seen any Indian chefs as publicized by the restaurant; the chef and kitchen area are visible to us and he is clearly Egyptian. It didn't really affect food quality but it's somehow misleading.
-The restaurant is inside the hotel not facing Na'ama bay street in contrast to the Italian restaurant in the same hotel (which was pretty empty at the time) so I asked if I could have my Indian meal while seated in the Italian section but they refused although it's quite common in restaurants of the same hotel.
-Prices are not low generally speaking but quite close to prices of other Indian restaurants in Egypt

Dear Nader F,

Many thanks for your review of our tasty curries.

We love hearing how much you enjoyed our food and service here in the Tandoori restaurant. Our award-winning Indian chef is from Delhi, and as you found, his food has a genuine flavor faithful to the region. However, it appears you may have visited on his day off, but as you found, our staff are fully trained and your dining experience was not compromised. Our intention is to provide and serve the best quality, freshest ingredients while still offering good value for money compared to other restaurants in Naama Bay. I am glad overall you found your food tasty and our service friendly and professional.

Thank you for your time sharing your comments with us and I hope we will see you again soon.

Dear steven h,

Thank you for your report on your visit to us and grading us a maximum 5/5 mark.

We are glad you enjoyed the open air dining in the secluded courtyard, located behind our other restaurant, the Italian Pomodoro. This courtyard is very popular with our hotel guests as well as Sharm residents as an alternative to their outside terrace. Our restaurants are located in the same complex as the Diving Centre and our Bed and Breakfast Camel Hotel.

We are happy you enjoyed your time with us and look forward to your next visit.

“Great value”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

after reading reviews on this restaurant,we thought we'd give it a try.located beneath the camel dive bar,and set up in an open air courtyard,it had a very nice ambience.the staff are friendly and helpful when it comes to questions regarding the menu, they cant do enough for you including doing match tricks on your table.
As for the food,it is excellent.not quite the choice you would get back home, but still something for everyone............the onion bhajis are sooooooo light to eat,not like the heavy balls of stodge we get at home......................and not that expensive 2xstarter-2xmain-2xbeer-1xcocktail-1xmilkshake and 1xlemonade....=£30.00.
we will definatly be back in the future.
top tip.......get a table by the wall opposite the open kitchen, there are vapour mist fans to cool you down.

Fantastic.. Well worth the visit. The restaurant itself is in a courtyard so it can get a little warm but I couldn't recommend it highly enough. Great.

Dear Jenni B,

Many thanks for taking the time to review your visit to Tandoori and voting us a maximum score.

We are very happy you found your visit fantastic, but a little saddened it was marred by the courtyard temperature. As our restaurant is open-air, we use fans and also a mist fan system in summer to ensure comfortable dining, however here the winters can be chilly and we also have table heaters in winter to make our guests' outdoor dining experience more comfortable!

We hope you will visit us again when the heat is more congenial to enjoy another meal with us and thank you for the great review.

“Splendid food”
Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

After trying other indian food. We found this one to be the best one.

Being an Indian, eating indian food everyday you can spot real food and readymade food before putting it in your mouth.

The starters were very good onion bhaji, masala pyaz and authentic Punjabi style samosas. Freshly made in an open plan kitchen in front of eating customers.

I had a draught Heineken crisp and cold.
The rest of my family sipped on freshly squeezed mango juices and cranberry juice.

Our mains zapped me back home. I was very plesantly surprised in the taste. Beautiful. Veg kadhai, tarka dal, garlic naans for me and my wife. Cheese naan and plain naan for the kids to go with their chicken korma and steamed rice to finish the evening. The portion sizes are large and not like the other restaurants whose sizes are microscopic.

Our waiter "Saad" was very friendly and welcomed us in and also explained about how the kitchen and staff works. This is an open kitchen restaurant so you can watch your food being cooked in front of you live.

Our bill came to around GBP£55.00 which we found to be very good indeed.

I would most certainly recommend this restaurant and will be visiting again should we come to Sharm El Sheikh in the near future.

Our compliments to the chef.
