Firstly I would like to say this hotel would be great if you are travelling with kids, but if you aren't then you may feel like you're in the middle of a crèche at times as people do let their kids run wild.
Our first impression of this hotel was not a good one, you are supposed to leave your suitcase outside while the concierge take you to your room and bring up your suitcase later. However the concierge disappeared and we had no idea where we were supposed to go, so after complaining to the reception staff one of them took us to our room. Though once we got to our room we were pretty pleased with it as it was clean, a good size and the air con is great. The maids always leave patterns made of towels or sheets on the bed, our fave being an alligator :) I would recommend getting a pool view as we had a supposed garden view which was really just a view of the scruffy back end of some buildings however this didn't really bother us.
The pool area is great, it was clean and there was always a selection of sun beds without having to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve one. The swim up bar is fab and Mohamed who works there always serves you with a smile on his face. The same can't be said for all the hotel staff as some of them look really miserable, one even sternly told me off in the restaurant for using a carton of milk in my tea as you are only supposed to get it out the urn (silly me!).
The beach at the sister hotel is ok, there's a mile long jetty where you snorkel at the end, it's not that great as its pretty shallow and I think everyone has trampled on any coral that was once there. I would recommend taking the shuttle bus over because although it's not far to walk its hard work walking in the blazing heat.
The food in the buffet restaurant is average, you're best going after 8 ish for your evening meal as it's like a stampede if you go any earlier. The a la carte Italian and Chinese restaurants are really nice, we were surprised as you would think more people would take advantage of them but they were never busy.
The evening entertainment seemed to be focused a lot on children which was very disappointing as there wasn't much for adults. The outside seating area was also completely inadequate for a hotel of this size, the tables were usually all gone by 8pm. Our theory was that it was done this way to encourage people to have to leave the hotel for the evening so they weren't hammering the all inclusive drinks. There's an English run pub called The Three Crowns next door which is pretty good if you can't get a table or don't fancy the kiddies disco.
If you're planning to go on any excursions then there's a place over the road that sells them cheaper than Thomsons but are just the same, I think Thomson rip you off. The reps made very little effort and didn't bother to mingle with anyone, not like the Russian rep who was always chatting to her guests.
All in all this hotel is 'ok', not sure I would stay here again, I probably wouldn't recommend it unless you are travelling with kids.
