Don't for one second believe the bad reviews about this hotel , the sharmies angels ,Dee ,Linda, and Sha were brilliant any slight problem they were there to help , the fusion restaurant fabulous , maybe the food in the main restaurant isn't brilliant but there are other places to go around the hotel , the staff in the bars and around the pool are polite and helpfull . The grand is a beautifull hotel and we are definitely going back in September , this will be our sixth time here it's fantastic value for money , see you all soon the bandana man !

Rooms – upon our arrival both rooms were unacceptable and we requested a room change which was a smooth transition. The first rooms were dirty, dated and smelly, we would grade as a two star plus and no more. The second rooms were very clean but still did not have the luxury of a five star hotel and we would give a low four star rating.

Swimming pools – Clean and the staff are very helpful, friendly and work hard keeping your drinks filled and looking after you, no complaints.

Beach / steps down to the sea – Be very careful as they are dangerous, the matting is cut and not finished off and can be very slippery and will cut into the skin.

Evening entertainment – POOR, nothing more to say.

Dinner: Seven restaurants, but six of them are all-in & extra charge items. Red sea holidays need to make people aware of this when booking.
Restaurant reservations need to be done on the day before you intent to dine and can only be done in the main Grand lobby (09:30 – 12:30 & 17:00 – 20:00) which is inconvenient when your room is on the lower levels and there are over 100 steps to climb.

Fusion - Outstanding food & service. More than fitting for a five star hotel, the best meal we have ever eaten in Egypt. The duck & salmon starters are delicate & delicious. The fillet beef melts in your mouth and leaves you wanting more, which they are happy to provide if asked. Highly recommend.

Mumbai – it is a joke. The set all inclusive menu did not include the basics such as water, poppadums & naan bread; we couldn’t even purchase a bottle of water, as they did not have any in stock. The chicken & lamb curries were more like soup/stew. The staff did not make you feel welcome.

Sharm buffet – food more than acceptable and there is a good selection of main meals available. The Thai Chicken was very tasty. Desserts can be repetitive. The Staff are very welcoming & work hard, your glass is never empty.

Olive – Even thou the restaurant was empty they refused to accommodate two people. The staff are very unhelpful.

Lunch at the:

Cliff – light lunch menu is good but plain, some garnish would be nice in the burgers and chicken kebabs.

Beach Club – pizzas are thin and crispy but tasty, the mushroom topping is worth trying.

Pool island grill – Wow it sets the standard which in our opinion should be offered within the other lunch areas. American hot dog, burgers all with garnish were lovely, the only thing which was not nice was the chicken nuggets.

Crepe & sweets – Fantastic selection and cooked to perfection. The ice cream is lovely on a waffle or crepe. The young guy cooking the crepes even offered his fan to us while we waited: a real pleasure to meet him.

Breakfast at The Reef – Selection is good and the staff always make you feel welcome.

Shops within the grounds of the hotel; DO NOT USE unless you want to be ripped off. The Egyptian TAX is really being applied here. The pharmacy charged us twenty English pounds for three items the same items in IL Mercato which is a ten minute walk would have cost us six English pounds. (IL mercato is worth a visit)

All the above comments were noted by Sha who was very helpful and pleased to receive all feedback. Thank you.

We feel the staff of this hotel are amazing and deserve five stars, but the hotel does not. We have visited Egypt many times and it saddens us to advise we will not be recommending this hotel to family & friends.

Room Tip: Stay away from the rooms near the Grand Lobby.. The lower level rooms seem to be better and newer.

Recently returned after staying here 8th-15th June. My partner and I had another great holiday at the Grand. From the moment we arrived until the minute we left we were treated really well by all the staff. The food was good, the a la carte restaurants were great, the Fusion being our personal favourite. What really makes this hotel stand out is the staff. Nothing is too much trouble for any of them. It also helped make our holiday that we met really nice holidaymakers as well. Can't wait to return to this hotel again as soon as work commitments allow. Excellent value for money.

Let me start by saying to completely ignore any previous negative reviews. For the price you pay for this hotel you can't complain, if you expect perfection in everything then go to the Savoy and pay twice the price.
On landing we were approached by two men offering to take our bags to the coach (appearing to work for Red Sea Holidays) who later demanded a tip of £5 each which we refused. So I would just watch out for this.

Arriving at the hotel.
Check in extremely easy, a member of staff takes your bags to your room for you. We offered a tip and he refused which surprised us.

Food at the hotel.
Excellent! I am extremely fussy and yet found plenty to eat throughout our 10 day stay. Don't think Fusion (The A La Carte) is expensive. We made this mistake so only ate there on our last night, the fillet steak is incredible AND FREE! At the main buffet the chefs cook fresh breads and pasta in front of you, and lunch there are fresh waffles and Crepes made. Also, unlimited ice-cream! There were no upset stomachs for us or anyone we knew there.

Animation team.
The animation team made our holiday, and I really suggest you stay around the animation pool. They got everyone involved in the activities, by the end of the holiday we had a group of 20 who we all plan to meet up with. There is daily water polo, water aerobics, water volleyball and yoga. Also in the evening they take everyone out to the nightclubs of Sharm. They are a definite asset to the hotel, (especially Verity and Chris).

Our room.
We paid for a standard room, and so expected BASIC. This isn't a basic room what so ever, we were outstanded. The bathroom is huge and looks modern, you could probably fit 5 people in the shower! The TV has several English channels, and we became great friends with our cleaner. After a few days the drains began to smell so asked him to clean it thoroughly, we returned to it spotless. Even fresh flowers in some water for us.

Excursions.
There are plenty of excursions to choose from. For us, Scuba Diving with Sinai Divers has been the best experience of our lives. I am not a strong swimmer what so ever, yet found myself swimming 12 metres deep with 4ft turtles. Simply breathtaking.

We were sad to leave this hotel, the staff are first class and can't do enough to please you. They don't beg for tips at all. Although it's impossible not to tip them, the hotel would be nothing without them. We will definitely return this year
