Stayed in this hotel for 2wks from 14th june. Read a few bad reviews on trip advisor before we went and was a bit worried what to expect. On arrival we were shown to our room which was a bit basic but spotlessly clean with a huge bed which was the most comfortablest bed we have stayed in. Next morning we went for a walk around the hotel and it was huge. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and were kept like this by the hotel gardeners for our 2wk stay. All the pools were lovely. Our favourite was the adult only relax pool which was just in walking distance from the jetty. Down on the jetty we found the snorkelling amazing. The number of different fish we saw was fantastic. To top it all off on our last day we swam with a manta fish which was huge.
As for the buffet resteraunt there was always plenty of choice and the pastries were to die for. We ate at the 4 al a carte resteraunts and everyone of them was lovely. Our favourite being the fajita especially the deep fried ice cream. 1 night we had a special which we had to pay for in the cliff resteraunt. It cost us approx £45 for the 2 of us and it was worth every penny.(seafood salad to start. Seafood soup. Then main was half a lobster 4 giant king prawns a salmon fillet calamari and a big basket of fries. Then finished off with a lovely fruit salad). It was stunning. How anyone can complain about the food here is beyond us. Some people must eat a different meal at home every day of the year.
We have been to some lovely places on hols such as mexico and cuba but we have never had anyone from the hotel management come and see how our holiday was going. A specil thank you goes to Dee the deputy manager Sha and Leny the customer relations who were brilliant with us. They were always walking around talking to us and the other guests seeing if everything ok.
Also the resteraunt staff pool staff and bar staff were brilliant and couldnt do enough for you. Ati in the terrace bar looked after us and was such a nice man.
Please dont be put off by bad reviews as some people like to moan about anything instead of enjoying their holiday.
we absolutely loved our stay at the grand hotel and will definitely be returning soon.

Room Tip: Block 35 was close to most things

We stayed at this hotel for a week from the 22nd june - 29th june. It was a very welcoming hotel with great service and friendly attentive staff who couldn't do enough for you. We relaxed by the bottom pool above the reef restaurant every day and our pool attendant was faultless. He was called Ashmed and he never stopped. He kept everybody in drinks from 10 till late, he also cleaned the pool, kept the floors clean and safe and generally took pride in his station!!! Abdo along with the other bar staff at the Terrace bar was also very attentive and kept you in drink all night long. He remembered what you were drinking and smiles continually all night long. Superb service!!! Our room attendant was also superb, he made different animals with towels in our room every day, a little extra he did not need to do but took the time to do it. Kept the room spotless for us all week. I would visit this hotel again as everything went smoothly from the transfers to the dining to the relaxing. Food was great, a wide variety and particularly liked the Fusion restaurant. The resort on the whole has a wide choice of pools, bars and eateries. We stayed in room 140, yes could do with a little attention but was still comfortable and clean. We will return!!!

We wanted a late deal and only booked this 2 weeks before going. Working in a school we can only go during the school holidays and thought going at Whitsun it would be really busy however we were pleasantly surprised that it was nowhere near fully booked. We have been to Egypt many times and after a busy year we simply wanted sun and relaxation. We certainly got that at this hotel. Never did we have a day where we couldn't get a sunbed, in fact we found a lovely spot and managed to get it every day. We even had our own bar man who used to bring us drinks all day for a small tip!
There were a few niggles such as the animation team and others coming round trying to get you to buy something or take part in the aerobics etc... However overall we had a lovely week. The room was clean and tidy, nothing to write home about and we did have one which had a balcony with a pretty much a hike in the wall overlooking the gardens rather than a nice balcony where we could sit out. We didn't use the balcony at all because it was so awful but looking around the hotel there were only a handful of these type of balconies so I'm guessing we were just unlucky,
The food wasn't bad, there was always something you could find to eat. We tried the Mexican and Olives near the front of the hotel and we didn't particular like either of them and would have been quite disappointed had we had to pay extra but it was free - you just had to book the day before you wanted to go. I would say 'don't bother' and stick to the normal evening restaurant.
The hotel was a little further out of Sharm than we first thought but still easily accessible by taxi.
One tip - don't book a taxi through the hotel, just go outside and negotiate, it is much cheaper!

Room Tip: Do not stay in D-block, this is at the side of the resort and some of the balconies (like ours) were...

If you want a relaxing stay this is the place. The staff work really hard to make sure that you are having a good time. Good choice of restaurants within the AI package. The Indian just outside is worth the supplement, although the limited AI choice there was tasty according to our companions.
There is some very good snorkelling on the hotel reef.

The hotel is an Egypt 5* which is not the same as a European 5*. That said this is something that I was well aware of as was the amount of stairs due to great cliff location, which is stated in all brochures and online so I am surprised at the negative comments about this.

The food in the main restaurant was not to my liking but we went to the speciality restaurant every night and they were fab. I do know that not everything is included but to give you an idea of the extra cost for 5 nights of having extras the total cost for 2 people came to just £62 which I was amazed at. There did seem to be a few people with tummy bugs but I would also say that when talking to them they did say that they were eating and drinking different foods from normal and that they had been out and about eating from street vendors. This would account for the tummy upsets.
The staff were brilliant and went out of their way to make sure that anything that we wanted they would try to get. I do have to say that they were not aware that I own my own Thorne Travel as I find I get the sales pitches on my holiday which is not why I go on holiday.
The pool areas were clean and lots of space to sit in the sun or if shade was needed it was 42 degrees you could find it. The snorkelling was great but you do need to be aware that the depth of the water is not for non swimmers. Overall this hotel offers excellent value for money and if I did go back to hotels I would happily go back to this hotel.

Room Tip: I would suggest you upgrade to a sea view. We had a sea view junior suite which had the most amazing...

Staff were great made us feel very welcome and waiters in lazy pool bar were fantastic. Just a few things that we came across. Rooms need updating. We had a few problems which were sorted out very quickly such as for air con, shower, outside light and extra pillows. The guest relations and Deputy Manager were lovely and wandered about the pool sides and beach to ask if all was ok and any problems. Helped with our Mosquitos bite and medical advise. On a plus they were both English well done ladies and thanks for a lovely holiday x

I have just returned home from a week away at the grand, and i havent got a bad word to say about the place. All the members of staff are extremely helpful, the service is brilliant and the selection of food on offer is great. Moreover, the annimation team contributed a big part in the enjoyment of my holiday, especially Chris, Verity and Emily. The three members of staff made sure i had a good time and always was there getting people involved.
In conclusion, i would reccomend this hotel complex to Anyone looking for a great but relaxing time away.
