Myself and my partner have recently returned from a weeks break at The Grand Hotel. I went with an open mind after reading mixed reviews. On arrival we were placed in a buffet area to grab some food as this would be our only opportunity to eat until the morning due to having a late arrival.
Unfortunately we were not happy with our first room, it was rather shabby and looked nothing like in the brochure even though it has a fantastic view. We asked to change rooms, they were reluctant to do this but with persistence we were moved to a much nicer room with not such an amazing view but the room was worth it.
The grounds of the hotel are fantastic. They are well maintained with beautiful trees and flowers everywhere. All seven pools are lovely, there is something for everyone from family pools to quite relaxing pools. We has fantastic waiter service on the pool we spent our holiday at until the last day when a different person was on the pool, we hardly received any service this day. Only down point in this area is that the drinks are often warm, investment in more ice or extra refrigerators is needed.
The beach area is lovely, very hot though in August. There are two jetties that allow access to the sea. You are directly next to the coral reef with 50 meter depth water on entrance. The marine life was fantastic, we went snorkelling everyday.
The food in the hotel is average, not 5* quality. We did find food we enjoyed each evening and I would recommend the restaurants over the buffet. Our favourite even though extremely hot was the Mexican.
We booked in for the romantic meal they have advertised in the hotel (at an extra cost). This was well worth the money. We had our own private table on the beach and waiter who made our night even more special. The tables were beautifully decorated with love hearts made from petals in the sand around us. The food (all 5 courses) was fantastic, best meal we had there. My partner made this even more special when he proposed to me that evening!
Our rooms were cleaned everyday with fresh sheets and towels. Fantastic towel art, loved having the surprise each day we returned. The air conditioning worked amazingly and was a god send in 44 heat.
The evening entertainment was not to our taste, we would have loved a bar that offered a quieter surrounding but unfortunately the only quite bars were not included in the all inclusive package.
There are many extra charges but they are all clearly marked so just make sure you read everything properly.
We went on three excursions that we booked through our welcome meeting all of which I would highly recommend. These were the quad safari trip, the evening trip to Soho and the Bedouin evening. We also took a trip to Aqua Blue which is a water park very close to the hotel, this was a fantastic day out.
Change your money at the hotel, the exchange rate is far better than you will get in the UK.
Please go with an open mind if you have booked a holiday here. If your not happy then tell them they will sort out any problem for you. I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: If your not happy then ask to change rooms

My husband , son and I have just Spent 2 weeks all inclusive at the grand hotel in Sharm El Sheikh. What a great hotel, lovely location, clean and tidy rooms, fabulous and accommodating staff. 10 pools to choose from and a beautiful private beach.
The grand hotel is a large hotel but at the same time feels intimate.

All the staff spoke a good standard of English and couldn't do more to make you feel welcome. We'd like to mention 'Sha' our rep who went out of her way to help us out throughout our stay.

We ate on a regular basis in the hotel restaurants (fusion, Mumbai, the reef, cliff restaurant, fajitas, the olive, the terrace bar grill and the panini cafe,) which were all great and served a high standard of food unfortunately we felt the buffet restaurant didn't quite match up to standard.

Needless to say we're already looking and planning our next trip to The Grand Hotel.

Paradise!

Ignore any bad reviews on here, anything said seems exaggerated or just wrong, from our experiences!

We stayed at the Grand Hotel last year, in March (2013), and it is one of the best holidays we have had. You get what you’ve paid for and more.

The accommodation is lovely, can’t fault it. The aircon was always working, which was a big plus for us, especially on a night time when it would still be really hot outside. We always had a nice warm (or cold if we wanted it to be to cool down) shower and everything was replenished in the bathroom, including toilet rolls etc. The cleaners came once a day and left everything tidy and always left the towels in a pattern, which was quite cool.

The food was lovely, we especially loved the pancakes on the mornings, the chef would always make us HUGE ones, which was awesome! We also loved the snack bars, the poolside bar was brilliant, and the crepes/waffles and ice cream pool bar was too! There is so much choice for during the day, if you want snacks or some light lunch, and there was a really good choice of different foods for all inclusive. On a night time, the buffet was really nice, and there was also some a la carte restaurants, which were included in the price of the all inclusive, which is rare! Some things were extra, but because of all the things included in all inclusive you didn’t mind, for example there was a small extra charge for garlic bread, but it was literally about £2, so not a lot!

There was entertainment on every night in the roof bar, unfortunately we didn’t have time to take advantage of, but we will next time we go. We were gutted about missing the snake charmer! We did go to the bingo night, which was really fun and there was a show on that night too, which we really enjoyed.

Drinks were good too, the staff got to know which drinks we were drinking, and as soon as you’d nearly finished your drink, the waiter arrived with another, even when we were sat by the pool! We could have bottles of water whenever we needed them, and there was a good choice of drinks with the all inclusive, including cocktails!

The staff were faultless! Everyone was really nice and couldn’t do enough to help us. Anything we needed, they were there straight away, even when I stupidly locked myself out of my hotel room! We had the luxury of going to a cocktails and nibbles party with some of the other guests, and the manager came to do a small speech and thank everyone for coming. He was really nice, and asked if there was anything he could do to improve our stay, we were already so happy so said no, but made a joke about how one of our friends had had their towels put in the shape of a crocodile, which looked awesome and that we hadn’t had one yet. He asked our room number, and the next day when we returned back after a day in the sun, there was a crocodile waiting for us! We couldn’t believe it.

The excursions that are offered are also extensive, and very well priced. We went parasailing, quad biking through the desert, for a trip on a glass bottom boat and snorkelling (I couldn’t scuba dive as I have asthma). We loved it and cant wait to try some of the other excursions next time we go!

I forgot to mention also, there are I think 8 pools, and they never seemed too full, there were quiet pools for relaxing or busier ones for daft games etc. There was also volleyball on the beach, which was fun!

We are returning to the Grand Hotel in less than a weeks time, (4th of September) for longer this time, we go for two weeks! And we are so excited for it.

I’ll post another review when I return, and I’m sure I won’t be disappointed!

Would definitely recommend it to a friend, and like I say, ignore any bad reviews you hear, we loved it.

Thanks, Jennifer Pitt

Went here with my son and his family staying in two junior suites. They were lovely and had a great sea view. We usually had breakfast in reef and a couple of times ate dinner there. It was very pleasant the service could have been a bit quicker but the food was always good. The pool areas were great. The staff at the hotel were so friendly and even had a guest relation person Sha who came round to see if you had any problems which of course we didn't. She was great and we had a good laugh as she is a British lass. We went to the cliff restaurant which we had to pay extra for but it was lovely, good amount of food and really tasty. The entertainment was typical all inclusive but when on holiday!!! The staff work hard to make your holiday, special mention to Ahmed at the pool, Yasser and the reception Ahmed. Just one gripe some of the drinks could have been colder, check the fridges. See you again next year.

reposting as my initial review removed amended now lets try again.

we stayed here last week. at first the room they gave us was filthy, dusty, a guy was fixing shower on arrival, no phone, set up for 3 not 4, additional bed a safety hazard. we refused to stay in room at 10pm we were sat in lobby waiting for another room with two kids under the age of 4. after several complaints we were given a room at midnight! which was satisfactory but not 5*. agree with other comments very dated and requires serious renovations to get it up to 4* will never be a five. pool clean and food good however all the basics ie kettle, extra towels all came at an additional cost. if you vegetarian be careful food not labelled properly and be sure to kick up a fuss and your guaranteed to get some attention. would not recommend to friends and family. I have never complained on any holidays but had to on this holiday and it paid off as if you complain then staff more likely to pay attention to you. its cheap and therefore we kinda knew what to expect in future I rather pay the little extra and get the luxury I would expect from a real 5 * hotel. if you have booked just dnt expect too much from this establishment or you will be disappointed. all the negative reviews are actually spot on.
