Just returned from 5 nights at The Karma Hotel, formerly known as UniSharm, and have to say we have had a really wonderful time. The accommodation is basic, but clean. Our broken tap was fixed within 10 minutes of a phonecall to reception. We had clean towels every day, and the towel art made us giggle.
Breakfast was no frills, but plentyful, coffee, omlettes made to order, lots of different breads, and all served with with a genuine 5 star smile belonging to Khalid.
We ventured out on our first day to find we were two minutes walk from Il Mercato one way, good food, good shopping, Starbucks if you need it. Two minutes the other way, modern but more traditional shopping with a 'no hassel' policy.
The hotel offered a good shuttle bus service to a beach, which was OK. Once again though, were really well looked after by the staff, no hassel, good food, massage, drinks, good snorkelling a 10 minute walk away. The old market area is only a ten minute walk from the beach also.
After a day out exploring in the hustle and bustle, we were met at reception EVERY time with genuine warmth by Hamy. This man raises the bar in terms of service. Having had some interesting conversations with the current manager, this hotel is a work in progess, he has some great ideas. We wish him every success for the future.More
