“Absolutely amazing”
Reviewed 12 February 2010

Just returned from a weeks holiday from the Royal Savoy and i have to say what an amazing hotel. Wasn't sure what to expect as this was our first trip to egypt and heard conflicting info. Choosing the royal savoy was the best thing and i would absolutely recommend and return to the hotel. We are already planning our next trip for later this year. The weather was great mid 20s even early 30s some days. The hotel is a luxury, the attention to detail is great, rooms are brilliant with great views. We went on all inclusive option and i believe it was well worth it. We had about 11 restaurants to choose from and the food was excellent at all. You get little extras with all inclusive package like a de-stress massage- lovely, culturama voucher, laundry service-great!!, ice skating/banana boat, etc. The snorkelling at the hotel is brilliant, the beach is very clean but so is the whole resort. Soho square is well worth a visit and is a great place at night. The best best thing about the RS is the staff, absolutely amazing, cannot do enough for you. Brilliant service with a genuine big smile!!!! Peope are just brilliant, well done everyone!! Cannot wait to return, see you soon!!!

Following all the wonderful reviews on Tripadvisor we booked into the Royal Savoy looking for an ideal place to swim in the sea that had excellent room facilities and a la carte dining.

From the moment of our pre-arranged pick up by George at the airport to the taxi drop off we had a fabulous time. Remember to email the hotel to book this - it saves all the queuing for visas!

Our room was magnificent - a king sized 4 poster with marble bathroom and wonderful patio area leading out to a garden and then on to the private Royal pools.
The cakes left in the room each day were a real treat - it was a highlight of the afternoon to sit on the patio listening to the birds eating the treat of the day.

The Royal Lounge was a real luxury - we stayed B & B so took advantage of our private breakfast dining and a light canape lunch. The evening meals were delightful, especially at Morgana, EEST, Sea Food Island and Rosmarino (where the steak was divine and we ate there twice on our 5 night stay.)
From Morgana, EEST and Sea food Island, please keep an ear out for the Kanoon player Emad Hamdy - he was an inspiration and the magical instrument he has mastered is a true sound of Egypt.
Also try the local Egyptian bottled wine - both the Chateau Grand Marquis Red and White were superb when decanted.

The main aspect of the quality of the Royal Savoyis the friendliness of the staff - everyone that we encountered was genuinely pleased to see us and wanted to be of assistance. They went out of their way to help in any way possible and were always ready with a smile.
Please be as generous to them as they are in their effort to try and please you.

The snorkeling was out of this world - you can buy a mask and snorkel in Soho Square if you don't want to pack one, or you can hire on the beach. Not to see the brilliantly coloured fish would be a crime!

In summary a fab get away from it all winter break with warm friendly staff and fantastic facilities - we are sure to return to the Royal Savoy again for winter sun and luxurious surroundings.

Hotel, service, food, weather, snorkelling & facilities were all without fault and for the first couple days we were in heaven. However, if you - like us - are an active person and like really getting a snapshot of local life, history and culture then you will be disappointed. There really is virtually nothing to do outside of what the hotel offers. Thank goodness for the many different (and very high quality) food outlets which provided some variety in terms of diet. The description of the local shopping parade is over stated - there are a small number of boutique style shops which are very touristy and over-priced and the coach ride to Nama Bay is not worth the trouble as it is very seedy and commercialised. So, no complaints about the hotel but would only recommend if all you are looking for is suntan in a superior environment! The snorkelling was wicked though!

We travelled to The Royal Savoy with 15 and 17 year olds and my husbands parents from Glasgow flying Thomas Cook. I booked exit row seats which made a big difference (very little leg room in other seats). We had no problem with flight and we were met by a rep at Sharm El Sheikh airport. We did not pay the 15 pound Visa because we did not intend to leave the resort, if you plan to go and visit outer areas you will need it. The transfer only takes 15 minutes to reach hotel.

The resort is beautiful, the pools, beach and lounge are all 1-2 minutes from rooms and are very clean.

The rooms were large and beautiful I don't understand when people have made comments that they are not, I have travelled all over the world and these rooms are among the nicest I've seen. The men who made up the rooms every day were great and always did a superb job (we did tip them at the start).

We went B&B only and glad that we did because you get a lot that is complimentary at The Royal Savoy.

We had our breakfast at the private lounge every morning which had a lovely selection of food, the egg man that is on the terrace makes great eggs any way you like them.

Most nights we would enjoy a drink or cocktail at the lounge that was complimentary before heading out to dinner.

We tried most of the restaurants and thought the Indian to be the best.

We tried most of the water sports and snorkelled, it was all lots of fun. The fish are amazing, make sure you take an underwater camera we got some great photos.

We enjoyed the bowling in Soho Square. There a plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from and even ice skating or you could try the water pipes in the sunken bars.

The weather was perfect, my husband, kids and I all live in Australia so we are used to nice weather, but we honestly did not see a drop of rain or even a cloud it was around 25 degrees every day and about 17 degrees at night. You pretty much guaranteed good weather.

Make sure you organise for George to take you to the airport he guided us through the airport like we were rockstars. Thanks again George

Overall it was well worth paying the extra to stay at the Royal Savoy we were treated like royalty and could not of asked for a better holiday.

Thank you to all the wonderful staff in reception, the bar and by the pool you are the best.

We were sad to leave this beautiful resort but we know we will be back soon.

Regards

The McManus family

Very beautifull resort, luxurious rooms, a warm welcome from the reception staff, also from the staff in th private lounge. Eest restaurant and Rosemarino restaurant serve very fine, quality meals. Large rooms, little extra things which make our stay something different! The afternoon thea at the room, the canapés, the Marquis, always with a smile!!
Airport service from the hotel is outstanding! No long waiting at the airport, or at the douane.
In 1 word: THE BEST !!!

Whilst working in Tourism for 20 plus years, i was amazed about the quality and sevice levels from this hotel.
The hotel its self is a paradise , where you can please yourself were you eat where you drink and how you wish to relax, by the many pools or on the private beach.
This Hotels is one of the best that I have visited, and it suited our itenary.
The staff in the hotelmust be praised for thier dedication towards customer service , which they excelled at.
My self and my friends.will definatly be recommending this hotel to other people, and of course we will be returning to the hotel in Janaury 2011.
Top tip try and book 10day 0r 14 as you will not get the chance to enjoy all the amazing choiced of places to eat within 7 days.

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
