Probably knee deep for 1/4 mile out lots of room, been there 3 times and each time realiable, consistant beach staff who cant do enough for you.
Diane, Kev and Pedro (the owners) are justifiably proud of the set up.

Kite junkies is a really professional set up in Nabq bay, Sharm-el-sheikh. The bay is a lagoon protected by a reef so there are no big waves to contend with and the water is generally waist deep, allowing you to wade around to collect your board when you fall off. There is a steady supply of wind so that almost every day you can get out in to the water and practise your skills for hours on end or until you can't move your body anymore! We tended to be in the water for 2-5 hours a day and were thoroughly exhausted at the end! The staff at Kite Junkies send you out in to the water with the right sized kite, board and lines depending on the weather conditions and your weight. The beach staff then help you to launch your kite and land it again once you have finished kite surfing. At all times they keep watch over their guests kite surfing in the bay and send out the rescue boat to help when needed. When we were there a lot of the guests were beginners or improvers, so the rescue boat was out quite frequently, but there was no problem with this, nobody minded or berated you!

We went as a couple and one of us hired equipment for the week while the other did the level one, two and three course. The instructors on the course were very very patient and explained clearly what they wanted you to do. I always felt I was in safe hands. Each small step of learning, e.g. flying the kite, body dragging, getting up on to the board, seemed impossible at first but amazingly the instructors managed to get me doing all of them. I had no previous experience with water sports or even snowboarding or kite flying (all of which seem to help as they are similar skills) and couldn't believe it when I finally got up on the board and kite surfed 15 metres across the water! The equipment hire was a fantastic service too.

The set-up at the centre is very comfortable. There are free tea-making facilities, lockers for your stuff, a clean shower and toilet (with loo paper and soap!), a range of wetsuits, harnesses, helmets and impact vests to hire, comfy chairs and bean bags, hammocks, a shop to buy kit you have forgotten and most importantly a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The only thing you need to bring is drinking water, a padlock for the lockers, a rash vest, water shoes and sunglasses with a band on them. All can be bought at the centre's shop though if you forget. Although the instructors and owners are all superb kite-surfers themselves, they don't make anyone feel inadequate and they are really supportive of beginners. Also they don't try to sell you lots of additional services or kit. There are several hotels adjacent to Kite Junkies which are only a few minutes walk away however we stayed further afield and needed to travel in. Getting taxis in Sharm can be a pain as they can try to rip you off but the Kite Junkies team were able to book us reliable taxis to and from the beach at competitive prices which saved us a lot of hassle.

We will definitely be returning to Sharm and Kite Junkies as it really is the perfect environment for learning and practising your skills.

Frequently returning UK guests

My wife and I both kitesurf and we have been coming to the same place 3 or 4 times a year since Kev & Di set up the kite centre at the Regency Plaza. You fall out of bed on to the beach and go kitesurfing, the wife likes the flat water and I like both flat and waves, yes waves? if the wind has been strong over night ask Kevin if he will ride up to the wave spot with you.

The wind is normally side shore coming from the left but you do need to get up in the morning to get the best out of the day by dinner time it will be a light breeze

If you are lucky the wind may come from the south, side shore from the right this wind is super smooth and can stay all day

Kevin, Di and Pedro are top hosts if you need any thing ask them first.
If you have a kite mare don’t panic Kevin can normally repair it for the next day

Not forgetting the beach staff who are there to help set up your kit and look after your safety, they love to take the rescue boat out.

We took a friend with us who had never kitesurfed and in one week he was up and going both ways thanks to the excellent instructors

All in all a top place for a kitesurfing holiday and well recommended for beginners

Ps see you soon
Mike & Gill

This was our 5th time to kite junkies in the past 13months I think that says it all really. The school is the most professional I have come across the beach staff are awesome and make you feel very safe.

The place is very chilled and makes you feel like you could be on a deserted island somewhere as long as you don't look behind you. There is also a great little beach bar opposite now that sells drinks food and cocktails.

The wind was great this time too I got on the water every day which is a first.

Going back in June.

My visit at the Magic Lilfe in Sharm-El-Sheikh could have been a little dull - if I didn't have tried to kite the first time in my life. It was fantastic! Feeling the powerful wind that drags you over the water. The moment when you feel that you (relatively) brought the wind and your kite under control! Kiting is an excellent exercise for body and mind. So: Just try it at the KiteJunkies - friendly and helpful guys, easy and warm atmosphere.
