JUST ARRIVED HOME 18th DECEMBER...If you want a plush hotel then this is the one!!
Immaculate hotel throughout. Cleaners working constantly, day and night. Pool areas are fantastic. Rooms great size. All what people say about the grounds are true(fantastic).
We did have an issue with the food though. Its not great!!.(luckily restaurants in naama bay are not expensive). All the staff really do look after you but i have to make a special mention to Mohammed (evening pool bar man).....what a great guy!(GIVE HIM A RISE) Its nice to be sat on a rattan lounger in the sun and staff come over to you with a drink.
Would i go back?????
DEFINITELY

Room Tip: ask for a pool room

Stayed at the royale for 11 nights (back 06th dec) so here's my verdict -

Starting with the positives.
Hotel , Rooms and grounds immaculate. Could not fault any of this.Best beds ever!!
Staff working in the bars and pools again first class.Heated pool really nice.
Location very good. 15 minute walk to Naama bay along the seafront. One or two excellent restaurants along the way.
Weather fantastic 30 degrees every day.

Negatives -

Meals- What a dissapointment!! a 10 minute walk into the slightly rundown sonesta resort to the gondola restaurant. Food was not awful but did become repetative and after a few days we could not eat outside due to the numerous flies landing on your food.
ended up paying to eat in comfort along the promenade at our extra cost.

Pool bar - No food available apart from limited pastries. If you want any food then you have to change and leave the pool area. not good at this time of year with only 6 hours of sun on the pools.Surely toasted sandwiches , fries and sandwiches could be provided without the current cost. Afterall the restaurants would be saving on the food served there.

No wine at the pool bar. You can drink yourself silly with house wine at the restaurants but cannot get any at the pool bar. Very strange when you can drink as much brandy, whisky etc at the pool?

Staff - Reception blatently rip you off with taxi charges, why do they let themselves down with this?. Get your own taxi's at the roadside so easy and cheap.
Witnessed a manager violently grab, push and shove Mohammed from the bar when he did not attend to him immediatly. He was talking to guests at the time. Made my blood boil!

Having an evening drink at the bar gets spoiled by the chemical blasting suposedly for the mossies. Everyone we spoke to got bitten from sitting at the bar late at night. My wife ended up getting injections it was that bad. Not sure the chemicals do anything but clog your lungs!!

Overall there are more negatives than positives but the superb standard of the rooms , and grounds and staff really make it stand out against other hotels and therefore gets a good rating.

If a few issues were addressed I am in no doubt this would be the perfect hotel to stay in.
Would I come back ? not the way things are currently.
If changes were made then no hesitation. would then love to go back

My partner and I, (a gay couple) recently visited Le Royale Sonesta in Sharm El Sheikh for a sun holiday. We wanted hot sun, and minimal hassle. Le Royale delivered clean, beautiful rooms, comfortable beds, great pools, and friendly and helpful staff. In particular, Mohammed (Pool Barman) and Sameh (Lifeguard/Pool Attendant) were really fun and helpful. The reception staff, while helpful in their way, did not seem to be as interested in making things as easy as possible, and were not that helpful when it came to arranging things (excursions, a trip to a barber, etc). As this hotel is absolutely gorgeous, it is still nestled inside a much larger resort, which is not as beautiful or well serviced. The buildings and everything were well maintained, and the cleanliness was perfection. This hotel falls down in a couple of key areas:
1) Services - the hotel has only one bar that can be quite busy and very limited food options, some of which you have to pay for, even if you are on the all-inclusive. There is very little to do in the hotel, but you can go to the animations in the resort area, which are okay at best. Be careful of the beach volleyball court, as it has an inch of sand over concrete, and I managed to scrape up pretty bad. The wi-fi is not free and its a bit of a hassle to get it.
2) Coffee - the staff who work in the bar have a great espresso machine, and none of them really know how to use it, or how to make good coffee. This was disappointing.
3) Food - you have to go to la gondola restaurant in the main resort, (a quick 5 minute walk) to eat meals. This was a bit annoying, but also many of the dishes were too salty or over/undercooked. The restaurant manager Waleed was really helpful and constantly taking feedback, but most of the mains were very salty, and the desserts quite bland and often still a bit frozen.
4) Spa - there was no in house spa for getting a massage or anything, and this was unfortunate, as I expect that in a 5-star hotel.

We had an excellent vacation, and the almost all male staff at the hotel were courteous and mostly helpful, (we were a bit nervous about travelling in Egypt together) and made us feel welcome, (always referred to my partner as my 'very good friend'), but due to language barriers and some opportunism, were not always super helpful, booking us expensive cabs, or attempting to sort something out for us not having really understood the question, and so then wasting our time, etc. We had great weather, the room was beautiful and it had the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. My partner says he won't go back, mostly due to the atmosphere in Naama bay, but I would definitely visit this hotel again. They have employed a lovely young woman to help improve the standards, and I feel like they will get there.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor inner courtyard or pool walk out rooms are beautiful. The upper floors seemed to get more road noise, so we asked to move and it was better. The rooms are all gorgeous and have incredibly comfy beds.

we stayed for 6 nights and the hotel was good.
nice rooms, big flat screen tv and dvd player.
decor ok, touch biznizy.
hotel is only 3 years old so in good order.
very friendly staff.
downside around the main pool they play constant chill out music. which means if you have a room overlooking the pool you cant escape the music. we changed room.
hotel is actually part of the sonesta beach resort, but very much seperate and guests from the beach resort arent allowed into the le royale.
food is fine for a week, might get tiring after a couple.
naama resort and the old town are best avoided unless you enjoy being constantly hassled to part with your money.
do go on a snorkel trip to ras mohammed !!
a good hotel that does exactly what it says on the tin.
