We had a lovely holiday and this hotel has many pros and cons. The room was lovely and had everything you needed. There are three swimming pools in this resort and then further swimming pools in the attached resort. The pools in le Royale were lovely, you could always get a sun lounger and they were very relaxing. However we didn't attempt the other pools in the attached resort. They were not of the same standard and I'd say all a little dirty. You'll see this hotel is a 5* resort. However the attached hotel and resort is a 4* and this is where the restaurants are. So basically the food is 4* not 5* so perhaps keep that in mind. There are a few restaurants to pick from. All Buffett unless you want to book Casablanca which you need to book 24hours before and it is a sit down meal. We made the mistake of doing this.....the service is poor in the restaurant compared to th Buffett restaurants and the food is the same just simply ordered and bought to you instead. Overall I wasn't keen on the food at all. Furthermore....le Royale has wifi, but only in the lobby. Not only that but you have to pay for it. Yes pay for the wifi?
The staff- all very polite however always fishing for a tip. And it is very obvious. Booking a 5* resort you expect a certain service for your money and you shouldn't be expected to tip everyone that brings a drink or cleans your room but you will feel pressured to do so.
Evening entertainment- well there wasn't any. The main restaurant had things in the evening. Mostly aimed at the Russians. For example Russian dancers and belly dancers ect. Not really our cup of tea.
Casino- we went in once. It was empty. Only 2 tables open. It's all euros or dollars not Egyptian money. Basically we had Egyptian pounds so just left. Wouldn't book the hotel on the basis of the casino.
Privacy- whilst in our room we had phone calls after 10? Our rep- I really don't appreciate the hotel allowing the rep to call our room at that time. The cleaner....very creepy. Knocked a lot, yes I'm sure fishing for a tip and being overly helpful but it was extremely irritating. One day we had three knows throughout the day, bearing in mind we weren't in our rooms that long. I would definitely just leave the privacy sign up.
Drinks- the spirits are awful. Gave me a headache everytime. They lace the cocktails with it. They have brands such as Smirnoff but you have to pay if you want that. My partner did however enjoy the beer.
General feeling- a little overpriced for what you receive, the staff are great but fishing for tips and the food is not to a great standard.
