Amazing amazing amazing!!!! We just came back on May 2nd after spending 12 nights here. We are very well travelled and have to say this is the ultimate hotel. We have stayed in many hotels all over the world and have to say this is simply the best. We would firstly like to thank all the staff at the Le Royale for their exceptional service. Especially OSMAN who made our holiday very special. Everyone makes you feel like royalty here. I really do not understand why there is any bad feed back for this hotel whatsoever, this hotel really does require more stars to rate as it fits into every category there is and more. When we first arrived at the hotel we were greeted with a very warm welcome. Our bags were taken right away and we were given a very refreshing drink. Right so as for starters what a truly amazing place. We booked this hotel for my 30th and my wife secretively rang the hotel direct to inform them of our occasion. She spoke to Osman who I later came to realise was an outstanding gentleman and could not do enough to help us. Osman gave us one of the greatest rooms I have ever stayed in with a huge patio which when u walked two steps down you were by the pool. Osman also had the room decorated for us for the occasion and had a birthday cake ready and waiting! We came to
this hotel with our 14 month old baby who the hotel staff could not do enough for. The staff were purely in it for the service delivery rather than the tips, although we were absolutely delighted and gave tips for their outstanding service. The grounds of the hotel are very large and extremely outstanding. The location is great and the facilities are superb. Any issues we had were dealt with in a second. Rooms were very spacious and the beds were huge comfy. Bathroom was what they called a standard bathroom but was all marble with his and hers sinks toilet biddy shower and bath and once again spacious.Plenty of selection of drink and refreshments and all that you could want for value for money. Many restaurants to choose from with every sort of variety on the menu. The pool bar was great also and staff fantastic. Kalid and crew after knowing what your tipple was would be straight round by 12 am to your patio with your drink waiting. This hotel was so great that we are booking to come again this year for my father in laws birthday in August as well as a family holiday for 2015. Don't hesitate to book up you won't regret it! We would give it 10/10

Dear Ray,

We are all delighted that your 30th birthday went so well and may we take this opportunity to wish you a belated many happy returns of the day.

The service you experienced on this holiday is what we like to provide all of our guests although it is possible that your birthday made you a bit more special. We have some of the best staff in Sharm and without doubt they are all aware of the standards we expect of them, or more importantly, the standards that our guests expect of them.

Thank you for endorsing our hotel in such an emphatic way and we will look forward to meeting some more members of your family next time you come.

With kind regards,

We have just returned from a short break at this hotel. We stayed in the 5* part of the hotel and it was absolutely first class. The rooms are large and very clean with the most incredible bed!!!! This was the best bed I've ever slept in!!
The rooms were cleaned twice a day and all pool towels were provided. The pools were beautifully designed with plenty of luxury loungers and umbrellas.
Our room had a fabulous view of the pool and bar, our friends however, were in a swim up room which was very private and quiet. The pool waiters provided great service here and brought drinks, snacks and ice creams to us all day long!!!
The staff were all incredibly attentive especially at the bar and pool area, we never once felt that a request was too much, they were always smiling and happy to help.
The hotel looked amazing in the evening all beautifully lit with candles.
The restaurants all served a good standard of food with waiter service at Casablanca. We also ate at La Gondola, which looks amazing in the evening all lit up and the food was very good with great variety, it is a buffet with waiter service for drinks.
However, you needed to walk from the fabulous Le Royale to its sister hotel Sonesta, to use the restaurants, the luxury part of the hotel is really lacking its own restaurant and this would be a great improvement.
The only negative really is the mosquitoes!!! We have been to Egypt before without any issues but this time we were eaten alive! I actually looked like I had chicken pox at one point!!! Be prepared and take lots of sprays and insect bite creams. The hotel did fumigate twice a day to try to keep this under control, maybe this was just the region and time of year??...perhaps the hotel could provide citronella candles to help this problem?
Just be prepared and don't let this spoil what is essentially a fantastic all round experience!!
We would definitely go back to this hotel, the service and friendliness was exceptional for the price we paid.

Dear Denise,

Thank you for this delightful review of your recent holiday. Your comments about the food and the staff are very welcome.

We did have a glut of mosquitoes in Sharm for a while after the unexpected rains in March but they have died down quite a bit now. Like all tropical countries (and most non-tropical countries) we do get them from time to time and it is well to take a few precautions, like covering up exposed arms and legs during the evening and using an insect repellent spray. As you pointed out, we do fumigate the resort twice a day but if other resorts nearby do not do the same we tend to “inherit” their mosquitoes.

Nevertheless, you had a wonderful holiday and I’m so happy we were able to help you achieve that. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the not-too-distant future.

With kind regards,

We had a lovely holiday and this hotel has many pros and cons. The room was lovely and had everything you needed. There are three swimming pools in this resort and then further swimming pools in the attached resort. The pools in le Royale were lovely, you could always get a sun lounger and they were very relaxing. However we didn't attempt the other pools in the attached resort. They were not of the same standard and I'd say all a little dirty. You'll see this hotel is a 5* resort. However the attached hotel and resort is a 4* and this is where the restaurants are. So basically the food is 4* not 5* so perhaps keep that in mind. There are a few restaurants to pick from. All Buffett unless you want to book Casablanca which you need to book 24hours before and it is a sit down meal. We made the mistake of doing this.....the service is poor in the restaurant compared to th Buffett restaurants and the food is the same just simply ordered and bought to you instead. Overall I wasn't keen on the food at all. Furthermore....le Royale has wifi, but only in the lobby. Not only that but you have to pay for it. Yes pay for the wifi?

The staff- all very polite however always fishing for a tip. And it is very obvious. Booking a 5* resort you expect a certain service for your money and you shouldn't be expected to tip everyone that brings a drink or cleans your room but you will feel pressured to do so.

Evening entertainment- well there wasn't any. The main restaurant had things in the evening. Mostly aimed at the Russians. For example Russian dancers and belly dancers ect. Not really our cup of tea.

Casino- we went in once. It was empty. Only 2 tables open. It's all euros or dollars not Egyptian money. Basically we had Egyptian pounds so just left. Wouldn't book the hotel on the basis of the casino.

Privacy- whilst in our room we had phone calls after 10? Our rep- I really don't appreciate the hotel allowing the rep to call our room at that time. The cleaner....very creepy. Knocked a lot, yes I'm sure fishing for a tip and being overly helpful but it was extremely irritating. One day we had three knows throughout the day, bearing in mind we weren't in our rooms that long. I would definitely just leave the privacy sign up.

Drinks- the spirits are awful. Gave me a headache everytime. They lace the cocktails with it. They have brands such as Smirnoff but you have to pay if you want that. My partner did however enjoy the beer.

General feeling- a little overpriced for what you receive, the staff are great but fishing for tips and the food is not to a great standard.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write this review of your recent holiday although we are a little surprised at the 3* you awarded as this is not consistent with other reviews.

The pools in the Sonesta Beach, to which you have access, are not dirty. They all have filters running all day long and they are manually cleaned in the early mornings or later in the evenings to ensure there is no debris in them. They are also chemically treated every day and samples are taken and analysed to ensure the correct balance.

The Casablanca restaurant is à la carte, not buffet. That means that you choose from a menu, the food is then prepared in the kitchen and brought to you. It is not taken from the buffet restaurant as you claim.

The staff are here to give you 5* service and they are not fishing for tips. If you want to tip them, all well and good. But you will still get the same service without a tip.

I’m sorry you were disturbed after 10pm by a phone call. I suggest you take this up with the Rep responsible. In common with every single hotel in the world, we do not screen calls for our guests for very obvious reasons.

All of our alcoholic drinks are locally produced as there is an enormous tax on imported alcohol so there are very few hotels in Sharm that would serve imported spirits in their all-inclusive. We have had many nice comments from our guests when they are consumed in moderation.

However, I am pleased that overall you had a lovely holiday and perhaps we will see you again in order to improve your experience.

With kind regards,

This was our first time to Sharm and the Le Royale Sonesta Hotel, we did do our research and although a little concerned about some comments, I cant fault the staff at the hotel, especially Fox and Khalil at the pool bar who offered a great food and bar service, Wadel was great too keeping the pool areas clean and safe. The Front Office Manager Taha Messed was very friendly and kept Le Royale running smoothly, he took the time out to speak to and listen to guests to ensure you were enjoying your holiday and the hotel, he was also very friendly with our kids making them feel at home. All the staff were extremely friendly with our kids, taking the time to speak to them and get to know them and from me a specially mention to the security guy with the moustache (unfortunately I never got his name), I don't think I have met a more polite and friendly guy, great with our kids and always stands and salutes/shakes your hand when you walked past a true credit to the hotel.

It is worth noting that the hotel always had a calm and relaxed atmosphere and all staff at the hotel really made us feel welcome with our two young children.

The grounds and pools are really nice and kept clean and are well maintained, the photos on the website are a true reflection of the quality. The rooms are clean and spacious although when we arrived we were expecting a quad room and when shown to our room it was just a double with a fold down bed and cot for our 3 year old who does not sleep in a cot anymore (this is not to say that the room is not good enough or big enough for a couple). This made the room really small for a family of 4 so I declined that room and got the quad that I wanted without any hassle and the difference in size suited a family of 4 (room 5127).

The food was to a good standard with a lot of choice, we were always able to get something that our 5 and 3 year old would eat (and they can be fussy at times). The main restaurant (La Gondola) always had a variety of food that was tasty and catered for varying of dietary needs. The Indian Restaurant (Tandoori) is not included in the all inclusive, however the food was superb and worth the extra payment (reasonably priced too). The food and snacks at the pool bar were good quality too, great burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches and milkshakes enjoyed by our family on quite a few days when we didn't walk over to the main restaurant for lunch.

Like Mark and Kim's review I too noticed a big drop in service at breakfast and sometimes at dinner, again I think it is purely down to not enough staff. A small criticism is that they should have more tables which are already set out for 4 people the majority of them are for only for 2 so when we sit they have to add 2 more places when you arrive. This happened pretty much everyday and is such a simple thing to fix.

In today's modern society WIFI is the norm and I think every 5* should have free WIFI unfortunately this is not the case here unless you book the hotel directly through their website. A little frustrating if you need to keep in touch with the world or entertaining kids on iPhones/tablets, then again that is the point of holidays "to get away from it all".

We used the kids club on about three days for our 5 year old and on two days for our 3 year old (a parent needs to stay with an under 4 year old). The kids club was great when the entertainer was there (I think she was called Orla), she interacted with the kids and got them involved in activities. Unfortunately she was only there once a week as I understand and the kids club staff who were there on the other days did not initiate activities or games but rather just wondered about the rooms keeping an eye on kids. Although this was a good service that we used for a bit of fun for the kids it could be a bit more interactive and fun.

Overall we did have a lovely relaxing holiday, we met a lot of friendly guests, our kids made some lovely friends, staff took the time to say hello and to get to know you and we felt very comfortable in the hotel and when using the facilities (including the gym facilities linked to the hotel). We would certainly visit again.

Dear Grant,

We are very grateful for this detailed and comprehensive review and we are so pleased that you and your family spent a relaxing time here. We really do try to achieve that ‘laid-back’ feel to our resort (not for the staff of course) and I’m glad you got that feeling.

However, there were a couple of things you remarked on and I should address those. I shall pass your comments about service at breakfast time on to the F&B department for their attention and they will make any changes or adjustments necessary. Similarly, I will check with the Recreation department about the Kids’ Club and how it could be made to function more for the convenience of the guests.

WiFi in Egyptian hotels is hardly ever free. We cannot get the speed or the service that you get in the UK as Sharm is so far from the other major cities and we all need an improved infrastructure to help us with this thorny problem. Having said that, we are constantly looking at ways to improve the guests’ experience and certainly, the provision of WiFi is included in that.

Thank you for your review and for choosing this hotel and we do hope to have the privilege of hosting you once again in the not-too-distant future.

With kind regards,
Medhat Fathallah

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the wonderful Le Royale. The rooms and grounds are gorgeous but what recommends it absolutely is the Fantastic staff, without exception the courtesy and smiles were always there, they could not do enough to make the holiday special. A special mention for the staff at the pool bar fox and the manager Khalid (hope the spelling is correct) Their service was like a top French Hotel, their intelligence and linguistic skills were amazing they were particularly kind to the children.
As wine drinkers we could not manage the free wine so purchased a local wine Obelinx?? which is like a pinot grigio for about 12 pounds. The Gondola restaurant is very good and the serving staff under wahllid were great and nothing was too much trouble. The pools were fantastic and the pool staff were very accommodating in finding beds etc .Management were evident throughout and always keen to hear feedback ,A special mention for the lovely security guard on the back path he smiled every morning and told us he had prayed for good sunshine, a lovely way to start the day.
Now to the title !!! although the grounds are fumigated morning and evening and I sprayed with OFF the biting insects were terrible in the evening Both my husband and I had 30 or 40 bites you could see other guests had been badly bitten as well. Perhaps citronella candles or some other deterrent would help. Speaking to other travellers at the airport they had not experienced the same onslaught?
I would like to finish by saying Go to this resort and hotel its Safe accommodating and classy
with the nicest staff and excellent management

Dear Clairsy,

Thank you for taking the time to write this review and I’m so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. I do ask my management team to walk around the hotel and talk to the guests as this is surely the best way to find out what they like what they don’t like and what we can do to improve our services and facilities.

I’m sorry you were bitten so much. Our resort is no more susceptible to mosquitoes than any other resort so I can only assume that the other travellers you met were less “attractive” to mosquitoes. We do have extensive procedures in place for discouraging all flying insects and you may well have noticed the fumigation process of the resort twice a day. Having said that, Sharm was hit quite badly for a short period after the torrential downpour we had in March which provided mosquitoes and flies with the ideal environment to thrive but they have considerably subsided since then I’m glad to report.

Overall it seems you had a good time so I do hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back again. And by the way, the wine you liked was called Obelisk.

With kind regards,
