“Another Excellent Holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2012

Just returned from a 2 week holiday at Sea Magic, Shark's Bay, Sharm El Sheik.
This was our 9th visit (5 times to the Pyramisa) 4th time to Sea Magic. Flash International took over the hotel in April 2010, changing it's name from the Pyramisa to Sea Magic. They have spent a lot of money and made improvements to the hotel. Very shortly the Pyramisa Group will take back over the running of the hotel (May 2012?). We are glad that most of the management team and staff are staying on as they are wonderful, hard working people who are always happy to help!
Emad Afifi (Manager of Reception, Rooms and Recreation) works very hard to make people's holiday enjoyable and is well supported by Ahmed Hussein. Mohammed Akaresh (Restaurant Manager) is very busy but always had time to listen and chat.
Over the years we have made many friends within management and staff. Egyptian people are the reason why we return twice a year, year after year. The staff on the beaches, the pool, waiters, cleaners, house keeping, reception, etc - a big thank you for making our holiday another wonderful stay.
Sea Magic has 7 restaurants on the all-inclusive side and one paying fish restaurant. Al Mawal retaurant (Lebanese) is a buffet with entertainment (music and belly dancing) and has lovely panoramic views overlooking Beach 1 - open during the evening only. There is a choice of other buffet restaurants, Al-Sakkya, View, Fusion, La Strazza (mainly Italian food), Royal Wok (Chinese - look out for Sammy who is very helpful). The indian restaurant is also worth a visit.
Most of our evenings were spent in the Dragon Bar watching live entertainment, dancing - very good atmosphere. There are 3 beach bars and one pool bar. We spent most days on Beach 1 and recieved excellent service there. The beach boys always find you a sunbed no matter what time of the day it is!
We met many returning guests from years gone by and all of them also enjoyed their holidays - no complaints and no upset stomachs reported.
There were many more Italians at the hotel this time, plenty of Russians and a few Dutch - there were more than normal numbers of English and Egyptian people staying too.
My wife and I will be returning as usual in November to the newly named Pyramisa. I send my good wishes and many thanks to the great management team and staff for yet another wonderful holiday and wish you good luck for your new venture with the Pyramisa Group.

We had 1 week here in 2011 and although it was a beautiful hotel and very clean, we were somewhat bored particularly in the evenings! The entertainment was pretty poor so it was a case of listening to a gentleman singing and playing the piano all night every night! Same songs every night! (get used to Hotel California!) staff were lovely and very helpful.
We would not recommend this hotel for anybody who has difficulty with steps or has a pram - there are lots and lots of steps! Not so great if you are in one of the bottom rooms! Rooms were lovely and clean could not fault this at all. Beach was beautiful but again you have to go down a lot of steps to get there - I came back off holiday 3lbs lighter!
Food here was lovely, very impressed. Please note however at breakfast the waiters will come round with freshly squeezed fruit juice then ask you for your room number when you're halfway down your glass! The juices are chargeable and they are not cheap so just be aware if you're making the most of the all inclusive! Drinks were as expected for all inclusive and if you ask nicely they will make you a lovely cocktail that will have you seeing double!
All in all, it was ok - fantastic staff and food, lovely and clean but far too many steps and not much going on in the evening.

ok here goes!! 7th trip to egypt but first time here, until check out i would have gone back. hotel is actually quite nice and good value for money, ok yes it needs updating and as most hotels in egypt is rated far higher than it should be! my big problem was when we checked out, we handed towel and room cards back and requested room bill and paid, 2 hours later our transfer arrived to travel to the airport and the hotel staff refused us our luggage!!! they said we still owed money and held our luggage to ransom, the thomas cook rep refused to get involved stating they had no powers!! basically we were held for 20 minutes until the rep said they old have to leave without us, our 4 week old baby screaming, in the end we had no choice but to pay what the hotel demanded to release our luggage!!! being put in a situation like this ruined our holiday!! as for the hotel, the rooms are a little dated, but ok, bathrooms need refit but hey i don't go away to spend a week in the bathroom!! the main restaurant is a nightmare and we only ate there the first night due to russains and hustle, al mawal and sepranza were a million times better, food was lovely and first time ever none of our party got egyptian tum!! the view for brekkie was lovely, very quiet and preffered by most english, the internet doesnt work, but if you pay for the hotels computers it works??? kinda felt like a money grabbing scheme (like the demands on luggage) we moved mid way through the week due to air con not working but waiters, cleaners and maintenance staff were all fantastic, just a real shame we were conned by reception staff at the end!!! stairs were a problem with a tiny baby and pushchair, but we just took the long way round with the pram, the resort is huge but i prefer this to having to eat in the same place day in day out!! i have always loved egypt, we were out there last feb during the problems and i have never been treated in such an insulting way as we were leaving!!! it’s such a shame that a handful of staff spoilt it for the whole hotel!!

We have just returned from sea magic and after 3 day with no air con and with a 3 week old baby cooking at 27c + at night time they did move us! We had 2 great guys try and fix it before they moved us but they failed!
If you have small children "push chair size" I would advice looking somewhere else as there are stairs or rocks Walls everywhere!!!! Generally food is average and that's being kind! This is NOT a 5 star more like a 2 star, the complex and rooms need updating! Some rooms have been update so somepeople are or will be lucky!
On our departure our daughter had left her room pass with reception but when we paid the small room bill off they asked for her pass! We advised them that they had already had it.
The airport coach arrives and they refuse to let us enter coach!!! We ended up paying 10€ for them miss placing the pass!
So poor food!
Not small person friendly!
Aircon more hit than miss!
Cleaning staff and general staff great!
Great location for diving . Speak to papa yasser at aqua nabq and say Matt&julie recommend you! Yasser is great instructor and friend.
Would we return again?

NEVER!!!!!!

Family of four adults stayed at sea magic for one week in December 2011, resort was excellent lots of restaurants, so much food and very good variety which we thought was to a high standard. Lovely location not too close to nama bay! we did visit but people very overpowering wanting you to go into their bars and shops, polite when told no but then the next person was waiting for you and stand right in front of you it`s quite an experience probably best to get a taxi directly to the club you want to go to or head straight to the shopping mall and miss out the other shops, we went to soho square which is much calmer and more classy. Beware when getting a taxi there to the bay it seems the taxi driver informs the shop keepers and someone will be waiting for you when you get out of the taxi to take you into their shop and charge you ten times more than they do at the shopping mall, everyone seems to ask if it`s your first time at sharm we started to say no so they knew not to try and take advantage of us. 1001 nights is a great night out with a five course meal and two shows the surroundings are fab. Quad biking in the desert is a must do! we had the best time and the staff were really good and looked after us really well, be prepared that almost every excursion you do someone will be there taking photos and recording to sell to you. The bikini club at the sea magic was great we had a really good night and staff are friendly and fun to be with. The lobby is nice for quite drinks but entertainment is not so good. Hotel rooms are satisfactory, gardens are perfect, views and beach are wonderful, book early for certain restaurants ie Indian and Chinese, we loved the Egyptian restaurant. Lots of watersports from the private beach, all other nationalities staying at the hotel were pleasant enough to us, we didn`t meet many other British people here.Snorkling from the jetty was lovely theres lots of fish just swimming about, the glass bottom boat activity was well worth doing overall I would recommend the resort we really enjoyed ourselves and would go back.

We stayed at the Sea Magic resort and spa 11/02/2012 for 7 nights! Being the 3rd visit to Egypt we were looking forward to a nice relaxed sun soacked holiday! We arrived at the hotel and whilst waiting to be seen by the reception had a few people push in to be seen first! After eventually being seen to we were advised that we had originally paid for a garden view room but had been upgraded to a beach front room -'the best in the hotel' - so that was fantastic to hear. We were taken to our room by foot and advised that our luggage would follow! On arrival to the room we thought it could do with a makeover and if this was the best room in I wouldn't like to see the rest. Althought the room was exceptionally clean and spacious so apart from decor and wear and tear we couldn't complain. We noticed that the reception had given us German information about the hotel and all inclusive so decided to walk up to reception to get it in English. On the way after a long journey we walked passed 'Fusion' restaurant seeing it was bbq and smelt tempting we decided to eat as it was the first restaurant we found - what a mistake - it was dirty, there wasn't anything telling you what food was what and there was lack of choice we ended up eating a piece of chicken and a burger and left. Throughout the holiday we discovered all of the other restaurants were clean, friendly and had more choice. For breakfast and lunch we preffered 'The View' restaurant which overlooked the sea. For dinner we went to La Sperenza - (italian) but this didn't offer authentic italian meals although was very good. Our Favourite was Al Mawal (oriental/lebanese) restaurant - this was fantastic food - all served in Tangines and fresh of the grill. Even had kebab meat which was fantastic - not to be missed. The theme was fantastic in the restaurant - proper middle eastern and had entertainment on too. The cakes in the hotel were fantastic too - very well enjoyed!!! We managed to get into the indian restaurant but wish i hadn't the food was gross and staff were rude. We couldnt get in the Chinese restaurant even though we went to book the day we arrived. After eating about 8.30/9pm there wasn't much else to do we found we went to the lobby bar for a drink and was back in our room for 10pm watching a film! The beaches and pool were fantastic although the sea and pool were freezing but it wasn't that hot that you needed a dip to cool off. We stayed near the small pool every day.The hotel grounds were immaculate and staff worked very hard to ensure this was always the case. There were lots of steps to get from the beach to the Reception - we counted over 100 one night but that didn't bother us as we could burn all the food we ate off! Really couldn't fault the hotel! What ruined the hotel for me was the invasion of the Russians - have never come across these before! They are rude, ignorant, loud and vile. They have no manners, rush to get food, do not queue and don't generally care - it was awful and ruined our holiday to be honest. But other than that the staff were fantastic, hotel was exceptionally clean and we had a nice relaxing holiday!

Stayed at Sea Magic from 25th of Feb until 1st March 2012 a short break away from the English winter our party consisted of myself, husband and 19 year old daughter.
This is our fourth time to Egypt, but first time to this hotel.
On arrival very efficient check in, very informative porter who took us to our two bedroom duplex. The bedroom was clean, but as previous mentioned need to be updated. We did have a problem with the fire alarm, when this was reported maintenance did attend quickly, but were unable to resolve the issue. We did get offered a room change but as we only had a day or so left there was no point. The duty manager Mohammad he is wonderful he took charge of the problem was honest and open with us and would like to thank him for his professional manner, he is a credit to the hotel.

Restaurants
We ate the first night in The fusion… never again food was terrible restaurant seemed dirty no atmosphere.
We only ate in the main restaurant the first morning for breakfast, although clean and tidy not for us.
The View: We had our breakfast and lunch here, location good, atmosphere good, staff excellent. The food was cooked well and was protected by the birds by covered trays and cling film.
Al Nawal, the Egyptian, Lebanese restaurant was good they have entertainment, belly dancers etc. food ok service from staff good.
La Speranza We ate there most evening, staff excellent, food very good freshly cooked pastas, well stocked salad bar.
Unable to book The Chinese, managed to get a table at The Indian food was ok service good worth a visit.
Overall the food was good, limited choices; if you are a fussy eater think you may have issues.

This hotel does have a bus which operates early in the morning till late and night, so if you have mobility problem you can get to the beach which is down the hill from the main reception. If you want to walk be prepared lots of steps, which we didn’t mind.

We went to the hotel for a break and some snorkelling and some winter sun, this hotel was ideal for that. We did not pay a fortune for this break so are happy with what we got.

Please be aware there are a large amount of Russian at the hotel, they can be rude, noisy and forget how to queue, but to be honest it did not effect us.

Room Tip: Eat at The view for breakfast/ lunch and La Speranza for dinner
