We arrived a few days before New Years Eve so had a few days to chill before the big night (will go into this later).

Accommodation - We are a family of 2 adults & 2 boys. It was very clean, very spacious a wee bit tired but the beds were very comfortable. Every time we went either in or out of the room our cleaner Ahmed Elsayed would ask if there was anything at all we required. He was extremely courteous and to be honest have stayed all over world but have not received customer care like this anywhere!!!

Food - Excellent, large choice of food, very well presented great desserts and salads. Waiters were extremely helpful they made a lot of our boys and at one point the waiter got up and started dancing with our 8 year old when the band and dancers came into the Restaurant!!! This was amazing considering they never stopped but always had a smile ready. Best waiter for us was Ehab Mohamed Abd Alazim, in fact all of the waiters up at the back of the Ground-floor restaurant were superb!!!!!!!!

Quiet Pool - There was a change-over when we were there Mohammed went on holiday and Fammy took charge of the Pool area. Both staff were superb but we got to know Fammy better as Mohammed was only there for a few days before he went on leave. Fammy was great with the kids, he let my youngest help out and was so good with all the children. Verbatim from the kids "He was really nice, in fact the nicest guy there". The bar guy was great as well, and remembered our drinks.

All in all the most relaxing holiday yet. The brits tended to stick together so it took no time at all to get a good atmosphere going.

The Drawback - The Russians, but to be honest if it was'nt them it would probably be the Germans etc. There will always be cultural differences on holiday and its normally over sunbeds etc. though this was kept to the minimum at this resort as Fammy looked over the sunbeds for us.

New Year Gala - Never seen anything like it huge choice of food (sculpted marzipan fruit hanging down from baskets in the pudding area, this looked like something Hansel and Gretel would have been found in. Large choice of salads etc and for mains there was fillet steak, seafood, in fact just about anything you could think of. A massive marquee (it had to seat about 900) was set up and it looked truly magical on the night. Again, hate to go on like this but the staff were fantastic and it worked out about 1 waiter to 2/3 tables so the glasses were topped up continously!!!

If you have booked this resort or are thinking about it, you will not be dissapointed.

A huge thank you to Basil whose staff are a credit to him and the Egyptian Tourism Industry. With this type of customer care it will not be long until we are back at this Resort!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are English, well travelled, and used to hotels and cruise ships of all standards. We found this hotel to be very well organised. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the ambience of the hotel and grounds was good, although some relatively unintrusive building work, nearing completion, is currently taking place in the adjacent plots.
We had a very enjoyable and relaxing time at this hotel and feel that its position in the trip advisor rankings is well justified. Especially deserving was the attitude of the client services and restaurant management and staff who did all they could to provide those extra bits of attention that makes a holiday so rewarding. I was very impressed with the food and the readiness of the restaurant team to provide extra arabic food specialities which I as a lifelong vegetarian particularly enjoy. Humous, Foul Madames Beans, Tahini, Tzatziki, Lentils, properly cooked soft Aubergine, Rice and freshly baked Arabic Bread were all readily available, which is not always the case in international standard hotels. I only had to ask the helpful serving staff and even if that mealtime did not provide one of these choices, they would rush off to prepare a dish especially for me. Other vegetarian dishes were often available such as Spinach al Gratin, Cauliflower Cheese, Braised and Boiled Vegetables, Eggs anyway you choose, Pasta, Sliced Cheese, Yoghurts, Nuts, and Soups. My wife is more conventional in her tastes and she always found a plentiful selection of foods available to suit her. I also only drink coffee of the decaffeinated type and again after a quick visit to customer services, this was made available to me whenever I wanted it. They also provided it in my room from that day onwards! The only slight criticism would be the dessert selection. Fresh Dates and Fruit were very welcome, but the many differently presented cakes were generally rather similar in taste and texture. However having said this they were certainly no worse than any other hotel of a similar fully inclusive standard. I would also add that we had no stomach problems during (or after !) our stay. Overall an excellent experience.

Sultan Gardens is a great looking resort, very clean and the staff is curtious. The rooms are large and I don't believe that there is one with a bad view.

The Goods
The room was clean and well appointed.
The 4 pools were beautiful and the smaller two are heated which was nice because the temperature in the larger pools at this time of year were not swimmable.
The beach has plenty of space and beach chairs.
Ice cream every afternoon at the main pool bar

The Bads
There was little to no entertainment, a singer here and there, or you could go to the disco which was not part of the all inclusive.
The food although it looked plentiful was actually slim pickings, there was not much variety and it was more the food you would expect at a 2-3 star hotel.
The alcohol was very limited in choice. Beer was really the only mainstay. Or you could have boxed wine, which just screams 5 star. The bar tenders really were not familiar with mixed drinks and did not really have a lot to work with in terms of selection. A Bloody Mary was not part of the all inclusive, which just baffles me.
The spa is in no way included in the price, you can't even use the sauna without paying, that is not something you would expect from a five star establishment.

Overall this is a decent hotel that with some small changes, such as a little better food and an actual bar with more than a selection of 3 drinks, has the potential to be a great resort.

When it comes down to it there are just better places in Sharm that are roughly the same price.

Dear Timberlnd3,

Thank you for choosing the Sultan Gardens Resort and for posting your reply. It was a pleasure to host you and we appreciate your feedback.

With regards to some of the negatives you have mentioned, you are certainly entitled to your opinion but we feel we must disagree. With regards to the wine being served from a box in the main restaurant, we urge you to keep in mind that just because it is in a box does not mean it is not better than the alternative that came in a bottle. We know because we tried them both.

As for the food, the reason it looks plentiful is because it is. We do not believe that there is better AI buffet at a better value anywhere in Sharm and in terms of variety, we offer rice, vegetables, potatoes, soups, pastas, salads, chicken, beef, veal, lamb, quail, calamari, fish, turkey, and other items. Certainly you can agree that there can be no 'slim pickings' on an all you can eat. In any case below is a sample of lunch and dinner at our buffet for one day of the week.

As for your comments about the Spa not being included in the AI, you are absolutely right, but we would like to stress that at no point did we advertise the spa as being part of the AI formula and as many of our managers have vacationed in 5 star properties in Canada and the United States, we can confidently say that the spa is almost never included in the room rate.

We hope you and the fellow trip advisor members find this information useful and thank you again for your feedback.

My wife and I were looking for a honeymoon destination for us and our two children. After trawling the web for reviews we decided to try Sultan Gardens - and are very glad we did. We stayed there for a fantastic week between December 15th - 22nd 2008.

Upon arrival we were greeted by an impressive looking lobby and reception area. After checking in and receiving our all-inclusive wristbands we were driven to our junior suite. The room was neatly decorated with a separate double bedroom, living room/kids' room and clean, well appointed bathroom.

The resort itself was fantastic. The four pools were all very nice, though the non-heated ones were a bit chilly with it being December. The beach was also nice, though the constant badgering by people selling trips, excursions etc. was a little offputting. Presumably this was outside of the resort's control.

The restaurants were superb. A good variety of food at the main dining area and the Italian restaurant was also very nice. Bar snacks during the day also hit the spot nicely.

The staff were wonderful. Attentive and polite without being intrusive, and they seemed genuinely pleased if you did tip them. The few minor problems we had (door keys not working, one of the kids' beds having a sag in the middle and water dripping from the air conditioning vent) were all dealt with quickly and with a minimum of fuss.

Medhotels' rep was helpful and gave a thorough overview of the resort, Sharm el Sheikh as a whole and the various excursions. We visited Cairo and the Pyramids for a day and it was an unforgettable experience.

The weather was pleasantly hot and sunny. A little cloudy and breezy on a couple of days but shorts and t-shirt weather all week.

We'd go back there again without a moment's hesitation and would recommend the resort to anyone. We just wish we'd had a chance to meet Basel and thank him in person!

Had such a good time last time there and in need of some warmth to escape the English winter we have decided to go back to the Sultan Gardens. As soon as we can book the flights we will book up again. Found that last time the thoughfulness and charm of Basel and his team made our holiday great relaxing fun. Previously Sultan Gardens was rated as 6th best in Sharm on the Trip Advisor ratings, now it has risen to 4th, together with the fact that we have had several of our friends go on our recommendation and have a great time, means it took little time for us to decide on a destination. We are even looking forward to the cultural experience of watching the Russians try to load 25 different meals on their table at one time at dinner.

This is our 2nd time in Sharm this year. 6th in Total. It was our first time staying at Sultan Gardens from 18th December to 17th January 2009.

This hotel is truly amazing. The complex is beautiful. We had booked a suite (suite 610), as we were there for almost 3 weeks.
The suite was a fab size, ground floor, with a large living area a good size dining area, bathroom with bath and shower and lovely size bedroom, with loads of drawer and wardrobe space, with the all important (free) safe in the wardrobe. About 10 steps out of our patio windows and we were at our pool.

The complex is in the most beautiful surroundings, the flowers adorn the buildings complex walls everywhere, shrouding them in bouganvillea and hibiscus and various other exotic plants.

There are four swiming pools, 2 large pools and 2 smaller pools, one of which has a water slide. The smaller 2 are heated, but usually are occupied by families with smaller children, who like the warmer water.

The 2 large pools which are beautifully clean and landscaped are not however heated, which I think, in the mid summers heat it wouldnt have been a problem but in the winter months, the temperature is really cold. In almost 3 weeks my partner and I were there, we only used the larger, quieter, unheated pools once, as they did feel really freezing.

The room was cleaned everyday, fresh linen etc, plenty of re-fills for tea and coffee making facilities, fresh bottled water in the fridge each day, toiletries re-filled, fresh towels and towelling robes each day. Our suite was ket spotless by our room staff (thanks Shokky, you are a CREDIT to Sultan Gardens Management, thank you for my lovely towel shapes each day). Shokky you made our stay so enjoyable, even when we wanted to lie in and we interupted your cleaning schedule, you always had a smile on your face and told us we were on holiday and we needed to relax. You were wonderful, thank you again.

There isn't a single member of this hotels staff that you could fault. Every single one of them were a charm to deal with, nothing was to much. The gardeneres kept the place looking beautiful and always greeted you every morning with a smile and a hello.

The food in the hotel is fabulous, from the pool bars to the bookable (free) Italian, everything was wonderful.

The dining rooms are very spacious and spotlessly clean. The staff in the dining rooms are amazing. Randa was one of the restaurant managers/supervisors, she was a pleasure to deal with and went out of her way to help anyone and everyone. Well done all the dining room staff and chefs, you made it our perfect Christmas and New Year holiday.

Talking of Christmas and New Year, Sultan Gardens, put 2 of the most amazing Gala Dinners on for the guests. Christmas Eve and New years Eve, the buffetts and entertainment, were something else, from singers, to spinning men and then a disco till the small hours. It was amazing.

The pools and surrounding areas are kept immaculate by the staff around them. Each day there is different selections of food (always a choice of french fries for the kids), around the pool bars. The bar staff are amazing around the pools.
Thanks Ahmed (the pool bar manager at no 2), your smile and help during our stay was fabulous, from you serving our first morning coffee at the pool, to our last G&T at sun down, thanks again, you really made our holiday special.

There is a fabulous beauty salon and gym in the complex, the massages are to die for...and a really good price.
The hairdressing salon offers everything from a simple wash and blow(which I had 3 times during my stay), to colouring, cutting and the usual braiding. The staff were also very professional and very helpful in the salon.

The reception area was beautiful, full of the usual marble, 2 jewellers and other day to day shops, selling sweets, cigs, crisps etc. and souveniers to take home.

There is a Guest Relations person on at all times in reception, ours was Natalie, thanks Natalie, your smile and help made our stay wonderful.

There is a doctor 24/7 in the hotel and an attached pharmacy. The pharmacy sells everything from a skin condition medication, med s for a bite or an upset tummy, they have it all. The pharmacist is excellent and speaks great English.

I could go on all day praising this hotel, but I wont, you really do need to check it out for yourself.

Thanks again to everyone for making our stay so wonderful....and to the Management of Sultan Gardens...you should be very proud of your staff and your hotel.

See you all again in May xx
