This was our second time at Sultan Gardens Hotel, we travelled with our very good friends for our 6th Wedding Anniversay. We were there in June 08 so we hoped the standards had not changed. In fact, they had got even better!
Our flight was delayed a bit so we didnt arrive at the hotel until after midnight. Check in staff were efficient, friendly and very helpful, we were very surprised to be told that the restaurant was still open for us and hot food/desserts available.
We were then driven to our room by the 'Taf Taf' which was just as requested (we previously emailed Basel to request rooms overlooking the beach), we had room 477, the first block from the beach which was very quiet at night and had fabulous sunrises to see. Rooms very clean and welcoming with tea/coffee making facilities, water, fresh fruit selection, even bath robes! Our room boy was excellent, always smiling and happy and always checking if we needed anything. (So sorry I cant remember your name but Basel knows who you are).
We chose to use the Quiet Pool and the barman Mohamed Ismail was fabulous. Very friendly and attentive without being in your face. Throughout the day he would come over and ask if we needed a drink. If you went to the bar yourself, he would take your order and bring it to your sunbed, no standing at the bar waiting...This was our second time at Sultan Gardens Hotel, we travelled with our very good friends for our 6th Wedding Anniversay. As was the pool boy Saber. He always made sure we had fresh towels and sun shade when it was needed. He even brought us a bucket of ice to put our bottle of water in. Again, very attentive and observant, he would notice if you tried to reposition your sunbed and come over to move it for you. The beds are very comfy, wooden framed with deep padded cushions.
All the restaurant staff were very efficient, remembering your drinks at dinner or soft drinks at lunch etc. Happy at their work with a good relationship with their colleagues, they would clear the tables quickly and bring you anything you might need/ask for.
The food was a very high standard, something for everyone, even for the fussiest eater. The selection was very good, meats, fish, vegetables, salads, soups, breads, pasta station, fresh cooking stations (meat/fish/carvery).
Breakfast was plentiful with cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, pancakes, hot porridge, egg station, sausage, beans etc, large selection of breads/toast, the bacon is 'beef bacon' so dont expect what you get at home, its different and tasty, try it!
