lovely grounds and swimming pools, staff very good and friendly especially the heated pool attendant who could not be more helpful, clean towels every day, food good always something to suit everybody, beach very crowded no room to move tip if you want a lounger go about 1oclock when all gone for lunch.beer not bad at all shorts hit and miss.one downside going into naama bay bars you have to run the gauntlet of traders who hassle you non stop.

Room Tip: rooms tend to be near the heated pool for britsh guests, good place to be but a good walk to the entrance.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to present this concise but informative review on Tripadvisor. It’s good to read that you enjoyed our beautiful landscaped gardens, the pools, the staff and the food and your suggestion to readers to visit the pools in the morning and then the beach after 1pm is a good one.

Naama Bay is only a dsshort walk away or a quick taxi ride and is full of bright lights, shops and entertainment. The vendors there are keen to get your attention but a polite “no thanks” usually deters even the most persistent salesman.

I do hope we’ll be able to welcome you back as a repeat guests in the not-too-distant future.

With kind regards,

Medhat Fathallah

We are very jealous to read all the nice revies about this great hotel! As Belgian gouvernement gives negative advise to travel to Sharm our 16th stay at Sonesta Beach for this June has been cancelled, to our big frustration. Since many years we have the best times in our 'second home'. The great location, (15min walk to Naama Bay). Nice pools. Beautiful garden. Good food and service at Le Dôme. All the helpfull staff on the beach, pools, bars. Our favorite room front Casablanca... We 'll miss it this time. Hope to return in December

Dear Olivier,

I’m so sorry that your travel plans were restricted by your government. We all know what it’s like to look forward to something and then have it taken away. And after 15 visits it would be just like your second home. But let me reassure you that everything is calm here and we do know of various nationalities who have taken scheduled flights to Sharm via Cairo and had excellent holidays.

Thank you for thinking of us and I’m sure that very soon the foreign governments will realize that there is no threat and Sharm we will get back on its feet. In the meantime, we’ll try to keep your favourite room free just in case you make it earlier than December.

With kind regards,

We just returned from 2 wonderful weeks at the Sonesta Beach. The hotel was perfect for our needs and the highlights, appart from 32 degrees with full sunshine every day, were:

Room - Really spacious, well kept and quiet (well built so can't hear rooms next to it or above). Balcony was big and always a pleasure to sit and relax looking at the pool (Cactus Pool)

Staff - I have never seen such attentive and genuine people. They could not do enough for us and our 4 year old (made chips and hot chocolate just for her).

Pools - All very clean and plenty of very comfortable loungers; towels were really big and the pool attendant always placed on our favourite spot for us!

Food - Very good and plenty of variety for all tastes. I simply cannot understand how someone would complain about it; we stayed for 2 weeks and always found something nice. Breakfast also good with huge selection of fruit, bread, yogurt, etc.

I would like to thank a few people that made our stay that extra special:

Mr Hazem Hassan who confirmed our reservation very quickly and was a pleasure to meet in person.
Mr Menin Abdel. Wahab who kept our room spotless and was always smiling. Such a delight to say good morning to every day.
Mr Abbas (Dome) and Mr Ibrahim (Citadel) restaurant waiters - They treated us and specially our daughter as a princes; always bringing special treats, etc.

A few things to be aware of (not important to us hence 5 stars):

Beach - Very small and crowded; if important to you please bear this in mind
Evening Entertainment - The shows we went to were not to our liking (personal taste)

Please bear in mind that you will see mostly Russians at the hotel; not a problem and all we encountered we fine; they have a different way of doing things and can be perceived as aggressive (some were) but staff showed tremendous and commendable patience with them.

Also ensure you take plenty of mosquito repellent; the hotel is sprayed daily but it is impossible to control it fully. We used it after dark and had no problems; some that did not were bitten.

In summary; we met many wonderful people (guest and staff) with lots of repeat visitors; we are already looking to book another visit and can’t wait to see them again.

Room Tip: We prefered the Cactus Poll as very quiet and rooms are large. Mostly brits tend to be at this part of the hotel

Dear Mr Garcia,

Thank you for the wonderful title and the review itself. We are all delighted that your holiday was perfect and we are also very appreciative of your kind words about the resort, the staff and the food.

I especially like your objective and measured views on the beach, entertainment and other nationalities as it is sound advice to anyone considering a holiday with us in the future.

It has been a pleasure to host you on this occasion and we look forward to the next opportunity to make chips and hot chocolate for your daughter.

With kind regards,

We have recently returned from a lovely holiday at Sonesta Beach Resort.

We were impressed by our room which was actually more like a suite. Hamet our room attendant kept our room spotless. He even made swans and hearts (towel) to put on our bed for my birthday. The only small comment about our room would be that the bathroom was a bit tired and could do with a bit of an update.

We ate most of our meals in La Dome restaurant where Fady, Mohammed, Mahmoud and Hady looked after us nothing was too much trouble. The food was really good with loads of choice. Could have done with a bit more fresh fruit but other than that excellent. We're not sure where the people who say the food is rubbish stayed it must have been another hotel, not the Sonesta.

The beach was a little small and crowded with too many sunbeds, but as we were either out on the Oonas dive boats or by the Cactus pool it didn't worry us.

Ibrahim (towel/pool man) at Cactus pool was always there waiting with a smile on his face to find us a sunbed, also coming around at intervals to ask if everything was ok. The Cactus pool was heated when we first arrived but this was turned off on 1st April, it would have been nicer if it had been done gradually. Nice pool good bar lovely staff.

The grounds are kept emaculate by a team of hard working gardeners.

We can't wait to come again, we enjoyed every minute of our holiday. Thank you to all the staff.
Mary and John

Room Tip: Near Cactus pool.

Dear Mary and John,

Thank you for the wonderful review. I’m delighted you chose the Sonesta Beach as the base for your diving trip – we are very well-located for all the outside excursions and activities that Sharm has to offer.

The staff will all be very grateful for highlighting their names as they do work hard to make it look easy and I’m glad you were well-served. I join them in wishing you a speedy return to the Sonesta Beach and we look forward to welcoming you back.

This was the first time that we have visited Sharm el Sheik and we will definitely return. The Sonesta hotel is enormous, spread over many low level buildings scattered around luxuriant gardens. There is a sense of space, luxury and tranquillity in the extensive gardens and it never felt congested or noisy. There are many different pools - we loved the Oasis pool and bar and spent a couple of days there, but ended up using the Cactus pool more, simply because it was closer to our room and we became rapidly very lazy! The beach is small and crowded, but a walk along the pontoon is a must, as is a wade in the sea with the beautiful fish swimming round your legs.
The all-inclusive restaurants are excellent with extremely friendly and helpful staff and a wise range of food. We used the Citadel restaurant a few times, but preferred the smaller and quieter Dome restaurant which was closer to our room. I joined many people in suffering from dodgy insides - possibly from eating salad which may have been washed in local water- but a dose of tablets solves the problem and no way can this be a criticism of the food quality - simply a different water supply.
The room we had was huge(we think it may have been listed as a family room), with an enormous bed, lounge area, bathroom and dressing room. The linen was changed daily and the rooms were spotless.
The animation team worked hard with both daytime activities at the pools and low-key evening entertainment. It would have been nice to see more professional performers, but this all fitted in with the relaxed nature of the holiday.
We had 2 massages during our stay. Both were wonderful and very relaxing - but don't forget to haggle for the price or the package offered.
We didn't go to Naama Bay itself as it sounded not our cup of tea, but clearly some people really enjoyed going there.
This was a wonderful holiday, made more so by the friendly, courteous staff who were always ready with a smile and a laugh. I would definitely go back there.

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs room as the views of the gardens are lovely and the lower rooms seemed a bit dark.

Dear Shorty,

You can be forgiven for becoming lazy during your holiday (if that was the case) as we do try our best to help you relax. And you are absolutely right about the fish off the end of the jetty – it’s the most diverse marine life in the world here in Sharm El Sheikh and it’s just on our doorstep.

I’m sorry you had a bit of a tummy here but I can assure you that our salad and any other food is washed in filtered water before it is served to the guests and our kitchens are regularly checked by independent hygiene inspection companies and we do have a first class record in that sphere of operation. Happily, you do say it passed very quickly and didn't spoil your holiday.

A trip to Naama Bay is a must at some stage so when you come back you should take that stroll along the promenade to experience it. They say you should always leave something unfinished when you leave a place in order to guarantee a return so we look forward to welcoming you back.
