“Excellent service and location”
Reviewed 1 March 2009

We stayed at the Fayrouz for a week. Based on our experience the hotel deserves its high ratings. The hotel arranged transfers for us and on arrival we were welcomed personally and given a choice of two rooms including an upgrade to a junior suite (which we declined because the front row chalet we had, room 132, was in a quiet location and only a few metres away from the beach). As a HHonours member we were given complimentary water each day and the servicing of the room was the best we have ever experienced. My thanks and congratulations goes to Shaker who looked after us and was very creative with his bed designs! We stayed B&B as we like to try different restaurants although being off season the hotel did offer us a HB deal at 100EGP per person per night for dinner (about £12.50 pp) which was a good deal but we declined. The breakfast was good with fresh orange juice and a wide choice in the buffet. The hotel has a number of pools one of which was heated and we swam in that every day. We tried the main pool which was nice but very cold, great if you need a refreshing dip. The private beach is the best along the front. Big fresh towels everday and lots of security guys providing assurance. Many of the hotels have two parts one either side of the Peace Road (which incidently is not very peaceful!) so its worth checking that you are beach side.

In the evenings we tried various restaurants.. the best by far in our view are the Pomodoro and Tandoori which are both linked to the Camel Hotel in the centre of the resort. The Hard Rock cafe is worth a visit and The Pirates bar in the hotel was good as well. Local beers are cheap here between 6 and 9 in the evening. For a snack or coffee we would suggest the little cafe that sits on the hotels beach front opposite the Italian. You can also get free wi-fi here wheras the hotel charges 25EGP for 30 minutes or about 120EGP per day for the wired service in the rooms. We went for long walks in the afternoon and often stopped at the Starbucks on the Peace Road which had some very friendly staff. The best supermarket is in the same location (called 24/7). If you want yesterdays British newspaper, there are plenty of hawkers happy to part you with your money - you need good negotiating skills to get a decent price! The hotels grounds and gardens are beautiful and well maintained by what seems to be a huge team of gardeners. In conclusion I would say the Hilton Fayrouz is a great place to relax for a week and what makes it special is firstly its staff and secondly its location. We would stay there again if we return to Sharm

We spent a wonderful week in Naama Bay staying at the Hilton Fayrouz. On arrival, we were greeted at reception by the friendly staff and given an 'upgrade' for free to a room in the two storey part of the resort with a view of the pool. I was a little worried at first because there was a busy road directly behind our room but when we went inside we didn't have any noise from the road at all. The only noise that we did have was what sounded like a party each night which went on until 3 in the morning and bothered us some nights although to be honest, we had been so busy (either relaxing, diving, exploring or snorkelling) during the day that we didn't have any problem falling asleep. I'm not sure where the noise was coming from because neither of us had the energy to find out and it wasn't too loud.

The staff are friendly, polite and helpful. The man at the swim up pool bar outside the front of our room was very nice and kept our thirst at bay with regularly refilled cocktails and soft drinks. We also ordered some food for lunch that was very tasty.

Our room was spacious and clean, a little dated but really very good. The only gripe I have is that we were promised broadband (wired) in the room but when we tried, the cable supplied would not fit into the socket. When we enquired about it we were told that our particular room didn't have broadband and we would need to be moved. We decided to stay and live without it but be warned, if this is something you need then you may need to check that your room actually does have it even though it may look like it does. Apart from that, the rooms were cleaned every day and beds made or changed. The man who was responsible for our block made miraculous displays out of the duvet on our bed (including a swan on one day)! We tipped him well when we left of course :o)

The poolside and room service food was tasty, although we took a brief look at the evening restaurant once and didn't fancy eating there. It was just personal taste really, the food looked ok but we like to get out and about a bit and you are right in the centre of Naama Bay at this resort with plenty of eating places to try around you. Outside of the restaurant we had some very nice meals, not gourmet of course, but tasty and the steaks were very nice.

There is an onsite diving centre where my boyfriend finished his PADI open water certification, the staff were great and we took a trip out with them to Ras Mohammed National Park which was fab.

All in all, go to this resort, the service is fantastic. The weather was perfect (a cardigan was needed some evenings but it was never cold). Only one last thing, if the owners read up on here - get new beach towels, those ones are very old!!!!

Great hotel on a great beach. Very welcoming from the start, even though the metal detector went off. Lovely chalets in the gardens, even the ones near the road are not noisy.
A choice of over 200 items for breakfast, although it can be a scrum for outside tables at busy times.
We did not eat in at nights because it was all buffet type meals, but many people did.

My only complaint was that the beach bar menu did not have any healthy options, only pizza and fried food sandwiches eg steak, burger, kofta etc.,which were all very tasty and well prepared.
NOTE. To all travellers.Wine cannot be bought in any restaurant or hotel for under £20 per bottle($30 approx) so beware. It is almost £9 in the wine shop if you want to drink it in the room.
We found Obelisk to be the best.

For our first trip to Sharm we stayed at the Fayrouz from 15th - 29th January, having read lots of good reviews and we were not disappointed. We booked with Hayes and Jarvis and had a front row room.
it was light and spacious with a comfy 6ft bed, tea and coffee making facilities,a really useful safe that was easy to operate and an endless supply of toiletries. We agree with many that the bathroom was outdated and could do with a makeover, although there was always plenty of hot water and the shower was good.

We were very impressed with the standard of cleanliness both in the room and around the hotel and resort in general. There was always someone cleaning, sweeping or tending the gardens.

The Fayrouz is situated right in the middle of Naama Bay and, although the hotel itself was quiet we could hear distant disco music most nights until quite late and also a regular number of flights arriving. We aren't used to external noise as we live in a very quiet part of UK so resorted to ear plugs to ensure a good night's sleep and you might want to do the same if you aren't used to outside noise.

We spent many happy hours on the beach. The Fayrouz really does have the biggest and best part of Naama Bay with well spread out sunbeds. Beach towels are supplied and for a small fee your beds can be reserved for the next day! Be aware that the days are comparatively short at this time of the year and by 3.30 - 4pm the sun has lost a lot of its strength. it gets dark around 5pm.The temperature was lovely, not too hot but perfect for sitting in without working up a sweat. That also means that the sea wasn't overly warm and fell into the " it's lovely once you are in" category. That didn't stop us snorkelling - an experience to be recommended as there is so much to see.

We got a bit caught out by evening temperatures and hadn't taken enough long trousers or more substantial skirts as it was surprisingly nippy some evenings. Having said that towards the end of our stay the temperatures had gone up noticeably. Many of the restaurants have patio heaters anyway so if you can find a table near a heater you would be fine anyway!

Talking of restaurants we enjoyed meals at Pomodora, Dananeer and Tandoori on King of Bahrain street and also Viva on the promenade. We had a nice Italian meal in the hotel's El Fresco too. When you look at the menus do bear in mind that the prices are quoted without tax so your final bill will contain 10% sales tax and 12% service charge - a hefty 22% on top. Also we were told that the service charge actually forms a large part of the wages of workers in Egypt so we ended up leaving tips too. You will need to take out a bank loan if you want to drink wine. We saved up and paid £30 for an average bottle of white wine one evening. Stick to the local beer - it tastes OK and is about £3 a pint. One last thing about prices. A year ago there were 10 Egyptian pounds to the £ and now there are 7 so everything is more expensive than it was last year.
On the subject of food we didn't have any tummy upsets but were very careful what we ate. we avoided salads, ice and buffet food that could have been standing around for a while. We also used antiseptic handwash quite liberally - especially after visiting some of the toilets....

About excursions. If you enjoy snorkelling go on the Ras Mohammed trip which includes snorkelling at 3 different sites accompanied by a diver who points out anything exciting you might have missed. The most amazing part of our trip though was coming back on the boat when we came upon a pod of about 100 dolphin - they appeared to be mothers and babies. it was an incredible sight but I can't guarantee you will be that lucky. one tip -take your own bottled water as the water supplied came in a big water carrier and we didn't know the source so didn't drink much of it.

The other trip we did was to Luxor and is to be highly recommended. it is a long day starting with a 4.45am pick up but the Valley of the Kings and temples you visit are truly awesome and you experience the real Egypt.my husband is not a culture vulture like me but he loved it.

Some mention has been made of the Russian/ Eastern European tourists and we also found them to be rather rude and loud. Difficult to avoid them but just be aware that you may be elbowed out of the way in a line of people ( including when you are snorkelling!)

Now I have read this through it sounds a bit negative while in fact we had one of our best ever holidays.
I have just tried to mention some details that occurred to us which we hadn't read elsewhere. We will certainly go back to Sharm and would stay at the Fayrouz without hesitation.
Do go and have a wonderful time!

We had a week's stay at the Hilton Fayrouz Dec 27th – 3rd Jan .We were given a lovely warm welcome , dribk & cold towel and booked in. . Porter guided us to our room which was overlooking the pool 630 .

Location - The Hilton Fayrouz is perfectly situated within strolling distance of Na'ama Bay. A little promenade between the hotel and the beach took you as far left or right of the hotel as you wished to go. Into the centre of town was about a maximum 10 minute stroll.

The Beach - Hilton Fayrouz have a lovely large stretch of beach with plenty of sun loungers. I love the sae so we were there at 9.30 ish most mornings and it was quite empty ..There were Security present , they were always helpful and they kept an eye on possessions left unattended while people were swimming/dozing/lunching etc. Clean towels were provided every day. We never paid for sunbeds and the beach was always cleaned each day...there was also a drinks service available but also just off the beach was a little sandwich bar which sold drinks too (not alcohol) . We got our lunch there most days for about £8 which much cheaper than the hotels offerings. We did have lunch form the hotels’ Italian restayrant on the beach which was lovely .
The Pools -We only used the new pool near the beach which was heated as the main pool was freezing .. It was clean, warm(ish) and there were sunbeds available .

Hotel Grounds. These were gorgeous and immaculate. HF had a large staff who were constantly trimming hedges, tidying lawns and generally maintaining the place to a high standard. We were very impressed.

Hotel Staff - Could not fault the staff. They were ALL cheerful, ever helpful and always had a smile and a 'good morning'.

Rooms - Ok, it's true that the rooms could do with a little updating. The grouting around the shower/bath was a little grey and the shower curtain was a bit grey too. The furniture was a little bit 70s. However, the bed was comfortable, the wardrobe had LOTS of hangers, there were drawers galore for storage and the safe worked. Also had sofa and a balcony where we could enjoy afternoon tea/coffee/ There was a minibar but we simply found space for the drinks we bought ourselves and in fact even chilled our champagne before we went out for NY eve!

Food - We were B&B as are most peole there . the breakfasts were very plentiful and everything was fresh.....the orange juice was freshly squeezed, lots of tea & coffee top ups available and even took a cup with me down to the beach most days ! There was the offer of HB upgrade but we didn’t go for that

New Year - Included in the price of our holiday was the 'complusory gala dinner' for New Year's Eve. We were impressed that they booked us onto a table of English speakers and they were all really good company , there were so many different nationalities who all celebrate d their Home NY when it happened e.g. the Russians lit sparklers at 11.00 pm ! We were pleasantly surprised. The hotel went to a massive effort for NYE. A big marquee was set up and decorated brilliantly. The cabaret left a lot to be desired ! was indeed a bit cheesy but it didn't matter as everyone was in the spirit of the night. Music was that bloody awful trance stuff – shame as they didn’t look at the age group attending at all. The food was excellent – buffet style but massive choice ! again the staff were very eager to please and ensured that a good night was had by all.

Drinks – wine is not good ! Egypt is not known for it is it ? The local beer is Sakkara The absolute best places to is the hotels Pirates Bar during happy hour. A bottle of Sakkara will only cost EGP6 during happy hour @6 7 @ 7 - 8@8 . The staff there are great fun and into football etc , there is also a brilliant guitarist who plays thee regularly during the week .

Na'ama Bay – super busy , loads of shops restaurants lots of choice ! - harassment ? Not really - All we did was smile, say we'd already eaten, and carry on walking without stopping. This worked every time. As for the shops, we simply talked to the shop keepers and passed the time of day etc , polite gets polite and the occasional cheeky comment - asda price etc When we did buy we had a laugh and got into the spirit usually buying for half their original price. It does the pass the time for them you know.

In general - Week was a pleasant chill relaxing on the beach , shorter days but sun was warm enough between 10 – 4 for sunbathing . Cold in the evenings though – lived inmy trousers and jeans + warm jacket
Hilton Fayrouz location great , staf great , fod okay but can work out expensive as exchange rate below 8LE to 1£ .Will go to Sharm again for sure but probably to AI hotel. If you go to Hilton Fayrouz you won’t be disappointed !

After spending 2 weeks travelling around Egypt my husband and I were really looking forward to our beach break in Sharm El Sheik for the final 3 days. And we weren't dissapointed. This hotel was amazing! We had a great little bungalow but even the attached rooms were really nice- ours had a small eating area, a living room, bedroom and ample bathroom along with a back patio and a little yard.

When we first arrived the Hilton staff was very accomadating and our room was immaculate. We had a fruit plate and drinks waiting for us in the room. The restaurant for breakfast had a huge buffet spread with the freshest of everything.

The best part about this hotel (and all those located along the sea side of the harbour) is that there is a promenade linking all the properties and it's lined with amazing restaurants and shops. The business owners along the promenade didn't harass you the way they do in the rest of Egypt which was a relief.

We loooked at the Hilton dreams while we were there- it was a lovely property but it was across the road so they didn't have a beach and it was much bigger with more kids running around.

In all i recommend this property as a jewel of Sharm.

We just returned from a great week at the Fayrouz for our honeymoon. Great hotel. Rooms very clean. Gardens are beautiful. Food was good and plentiful. Lovely clean private beach with clean towels provided each day, and plenty of sun loungers.
The resort was fairly quiet at this time of year. Staff are friendly and ever helpful.
Only gripes would be drinks with dinner are expensive (around 10gbp for a glass of wine and a beer). Worth using one of the many happy hours for drinks before dinner (around 1 GBP per beer).
Weather in janurary = warm and sunny, cooler in evenings. Sea was bit chilly, but could still swim for short periods.
Overall a great hotel.
Will stay here again.
