“Good, but could have been better!!!!”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

Just got back from this hotel, which we stayed for two weeks as I enjoyed myself .The tropicano grand azure was a lovely holiday, but was a bit tired. If u want a relaxing, quiet hotel is the one, but if u r after activities for children and a bit of music, it doesn't give you that. As we were English guests we were upgraded to a junior suite, which was very spacious and clean. But it was very tired and needed updated. If you r going to stay in this hotel I would advise you to upgrade as the standard rooms are quite small and don't give you good views, as we were surrounding the pool, as found that very handy so not long to walk to reception. But other people who had standard rooms had to walk about fifteen minutes to reception.

The food was very good, especially the aquarium restuarant which is only for English guests, as the main resturant is to crowded and full of Egyptian people. The a la cartes are beautiful, I highly recommend the Chinese and Italian which are very tasty and good atmosphere.

The entertainment is average as you would normally expect in a all inclusive hotel, some nights it was very disappointing so decided to go to the shopping malls outside the hotel as there weren't anything going on in the hotel. I would advise you to go to soho square as Nama bay is quite rowdy and very busy. Soho square is full of English people and has some good entertainment on which will entertain the family.

Overall this hotel is not a five star it is more like a four, but it is the hotel if you r looking somewhere to relax with the partner, not so much the family

Tropicana/ Tirana Grand Azure, Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.

The Rooms

The first Junior Suite was not suitable, the whole room was dirty. I spilled water on the coffee table wiped up with a couple of paper tissues which after I had wiped up the water were black with dirt, the shower had been put in at the end of the bath as a after thought and flooded the bathroom every time we had a shower. We were moved to a second room on the first floor, if these rooms are classed as a Junior Suite they were very disappointing to say the least and the price of the upgrade was very expensive for what we got. The rooms were shoddy and needed decorating, the stocked mini-bar consisted of 2 cans of beer, 2 soft drinks and 2 fruit juices in a very small fridge which I do not think equals a stocked mini bar. We complained to reception and a very rude receptionist told us that's all we are entitled to. In our second room the water pressure for the shower was very inconsistent and the basin was continually getting blocked. The cleaners arrived to clean our room at approximately 1800 hrs every night which I considered to be very late as we were getting changed to go out, the clean was change the bed sheets and towels, wipe the top of the dressing table and coffee table without moving anything, sweep the balcony and mop with a damp cloth and finally use a dust pan and brush on the carpet, I continually asked why the carpet was not cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, all I got was a shrug of the shoulders. Eventually after 13 days a vacuum cleaner was used. We timed the whole cleaning process every evening and on average it took from 4 to 6 minutes from when they came in the door to when they left.

The Pool Area

The pool area was a total disgrace, we settled on a small pool next to the entrance which looked like the cleanest of a bad lot. The area around this pool was cleaned on the odd occasion never on a daily basis. The first couple of days were quiet, then we were told that 200 Arab people were arriving the next day. This was a disaster, their behaviour was disgraceful, on one occasion we left our sun beds with our personal towels draped on at the side of the pool to go to lunch and when we came back a Arab family had decided to use. On another occasion a boy of about 8 or 9 stood on the side of the pool and urinated, but what made it worse was his family laughed and thought it was funny. We reported this to the hotel who closed the pool for about 1 hour threw a bucket of Chlorine in the water and then reopened it. The only thing about this holiday that was as advertised was the SUNSHINE.

Room Tip: Do not go to this Hotel!!!

Went to Sharm in July with my family and cannot really fault the service and food on offer at this hotel. The Aquarium restaurant is of a very high standard, the omelette chef is worth the visit alone. Good choices available at all meal times. The rooms are spacious and clean, occasional water pressure problems in the shower, but was not too much of an issue. Loved the sheet creations left by the cleaners. We tipped our pool boy on the first morning, and every day he placed our towels in the position we requested, very helpful when your teenage daughter wants to have a lie in & know where you're going to be. The lobby area was spotless too & all the bar and serving staff very friendly. An excellent first visit to Egypt.

Just back from two weeks at the now tirana grand azure. This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel and previous reviews have been 5 star. Sadly this time it is not. The hotel is due to be refurbished in october but it felt like the management had already started to wind things up. The staff at the hotel are great, special thanks to Ahmed in the bar, and do their best to make you feel welcome. The room cleaner was very polite and respectful so no problems here either. Where there were issues were with the general level of maintenance. Plaster and paint was falling off the exterior walls, the pathways were peppered with broken tiles or blown concrete. The pools were filthy with algae making them very slippy and all of our swimming gear has gone yellow and will not come clean. Due to the poor maintenance lots of guests were walking around with dressings and bandages and even more were slipping. As mentioned the only thing that saved this holiday was the people we met and the staff. I do hope that post refurbishment the hotel improves but I feel we may not return to see it

Staying currently at this hotel. Great staff and a very accommodating operations manager in Mohammed thader. Has enabled our two families to stay together during the day as my friends travel company in the uk, booked him into the club azure rather than my hotel. He is unhappy that he is not in my hotel, as last night when I visited his hotel, sexual connotations were made not only to my friends wife, but also to my wife and 14 year old daughter. Stay away from club azure, but do book the grand azure. The one directly on the beach. Staff have been great and no sexual comments have been made to either of our families by the staff. Can't praise the staff anymore. Thank you once again, Mohammed thader for allowing us to enjoy our time together. Club azure are totally different. Love this hotel

Just returned from our second visit, the hotel has been taken over with big changes planned( renovations), the staff in all areas especially the bar staff in reception are a great asset to this hotel , pool areas are starting to look tired , however this did not spoil our holiday, we had a great time , the staff from the gardeners , cleaners, and barmen are superb , special mention to Amy on animation , doing a great job single handed as the British rep, all in all great place to be , you won't be disappointed booking here,
