“Can't wait to go back”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 October 2013

Our first stay at Camel (recommended by a mate, a keen diver) and neither of us had done SCUBA before but fancied an active holiday with 'something to show for it'. The Open Water course was amazing, full-on at times (taking my mask off underwater for the first time was a massive challenge for me!) but rewarding and lots of fun. Saw some incredible marine life, including the Napoleon wrasse that lives in the hull-sculpture off home reef, he seems to enjoy playing up to the camera!
Instructors and all staff at Camel and Pomodoro are faultlessly professional and friendly. Our pool-view room was incredibly convenient, clean and spacious; everything we could have wanted. In fact, extraordinary value for money with the breakfast buffet included.
Felt a real sense of achievement when we passed our PADI and we are already planning our next visit; some adventure dives (I really want to visit Ras Mohammed) an underwater photo course and perhaps even Advanced Open Water...
I had been a bit concerned (as I'm in my very late forties) that the dive club would be full of trendy, funky youngsters in their twenties who'd been diving all their lives and I'd be a bit of a sore thumb but that was SO not the case; Camel caters for a huge range of ages and abilities, I never once felt uncomfortable or unable to 'keep up'.
Thank you to everyone at Camel...see you next year, that's a promise!

Room Tip: Pool view rooms on ground or first floor are a must.

Dear HKedie
Thank you very much for your glowing review and CONGRATULATIONS on becoming a diver! We're absolutely delighted that you chose to learn to scuba dive with us. Our team works hard to ensure that all our guests - whatever their age or diving experience level - have a memorable diving holiday in our beautiful part of the Red Sea, so it's great to hear that you found our staff to be both professional and friendly, and rated our dive centre and hotel highly for convenience and value for money.
Thanks again for your kind feedback and we look forward to diving with you next year at Ras Mohammed!

I have recently returned from a one week stay at this hotel.
I could find nothing to fault them on. The location is perfect, the service is top drawer. The rooms are large comfortable and well presented. It is well worth the supplement to get a pool view room.
If I were to have a moan it would be if course the additional charges for a late check out if the room 30 euros, but in their defence I knew what the charge would be beforehand and chose still to do it.
I hallways gripe about paying single supplements when hotels are empty, but again I knew the cost before hand.
I have never stayed here before but am already planning a return visit in February. Highly recommended as a place to stay, eat and dive from with sufficient facilities, beach and pool, to keep any non diving partners more than happy. Booking was easy, communication was excellent, transport was organised and waiting at the chaotic airport and a visa was ready as requested.

Room Tip: Book a pool view room quieter and with a much nicer view

Dear TheTravellerYork
We're thrilled to read that you enjoyed your recent stay at Camel Hotel 4* so much that you're already planning your return visit in February 2014! Thank you for highly recommending us to both divers and to those who are not (yet!) divers; we greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.
We're delighted that you enjoyed our central location, high level of service, and spacious pool-view rooms, and that you found our communication clear and entire booking process straightforward.
As you mentioned, we are unfortunately obliged to charge a single supplement for our rooms, as well as the late check-out fee; we appreciate your understanding and thank you for mentioning that you were informed about these charges in advance. Regarding late check-out,
as an alternative on departure day we do offer our guests the option of storing their bags at Reception, and using the showers in our comfortable changing rooms next to the pool to freshen up prior to the flight.
Thanks again on behalf of our entire team for your very welcome feedback. It was our pleasure to have you staying and diving with us, and we look forward to welcoming you back at Camel early next year!

This is the 2nd time I have stayed at the Camel Hotel and Dive Club - Both times I have found the the hotel on a par with other previous Hotels in the area, and surpassing them with the service. If your going to Sharm to Dive I would 100% recommend Camel - I have just come back from a 7 days holiday, I did 15 dives over 6 days - Everything from the Hammerheads in Tiran, the Thiselgorm and the Blue Hole in Dahab to the local Ras Mohammed National Park.

The location of the hotel is situated on the main strip, between the Pomodora Italian restaurant and the Vanilla Ice Cream Parlour, they have the 2 bars ont the upstairs terrace (1 outside overlooking the strip and the other indoors with air conditioning and big screen Tvs showing various sports channels) and the Roof Bar. The Indian Reataurant in the Middle is well worth the visit - Great food. With all this activity around the hotel, my room has always been peaceful and relaxing, and I have never had to complain about any noise. I have always though it great that I had access to the hotel pool less than 50m from the main strip - and believe me with the hot temperatures in Sharm - Thats a great thing to have access to!

I plan to be going back in March - and will not be staying anywhere else.

Room Tip: Ask for the Poolside Rooms - No added cost

We were a group of four divers staying here at the end of August. First time we've stayed at this hotel, but we have been to Sharm several times before, normally out along the promenade towards Sofitel. This time we were after an all-in diving/accommodation package, so the choice was simple. Booking was easy, as the revolution has once again decimated the tourist trade here. Other than empty streets and bars, we saw no evidence of trouble.
Situated in the midst of the (usually) bustling Na'ama Bay and right next to the shopping centre, this four-star hotel certainly has location on its side. It contains an Italian restaurant (untried by us), ice-cream bar, and an extremely good Indian restaurant in the middle. I'd say this was on a par with the Indian at the Sofitel, saving us a lengthy walk.
There is a chill-out area in the forecourt area under a sail, the ultimate place for a post-dive beer. After dinner there's also an excellent rooftop bar on two levels, with nice views over the street life.
Rooms are nice and clean; get one looking over the pool on the inner courtyard if you can. The staff are very helpful and polite. The dive club operation is one of the oldest in Sharm, and has surely survived by being very good at what they do, offering everything from Come-and-Try to Trimix 75 technical diving. Their day boat, Camel Tribe, is newly refitted and smart, and the speedboat running from Sharks Bay is well worth a trip - 14 minutes to Jackson Reef, anyone?
All in all, an excellent package in the heart of this Red Sea diving Mecca.

Room Tip: Always try for a room overlooking the pool area, as this provides some insulation against the street...

Dear Iananding,
Thank you - from the whole Camel team - for taking the time to write your review and for recommending our hotel and dive centre so highly. We're delighted to hear that our choice of high-quality restaurants and bars on the premises scored top marks with your party of four, along with our central location and pool-view rooms. Our diving centre celebrates it's 27th year of operation in 2013! We're really pleased that you found our staff to be helpful, and enjoyed our new boats - both the 20m purpose built "Camel Tribe" and our new super-fast speedboat to Tiran.
Once again, many thanks for posting your feedback and we look forward to diving with you next time!

I have now been to Camel 8 times, so I think it is fair to say that I like it there!

The rooms are clean and comfortable and there is a nice pool area to chill out in when you are not diving. The on site Indian and Italian restaurants are excellent and the Camel roof bar is an institute in itself!

Now to the real reason I go back so often - the diving! Dive guides are world class in my opinion. I have travelled to many places and the Camel staff stand out in their professional and friendly approach. Guides are incredibly knowledgeable about the dive sites and marine life and their enthusiasm shows. My latest visit in June 2013 presented some mind blowing dives around Ras Mohammed with literally hundreds of fish shoaling. The guides make sure you get the best out of your trip.

Obviously can't finish without mentioning the fabulous boat crew and dive operation staff from the counter to the kit room and on board the boat, they are all excellent. You will be very well cared for. Boats are clean and spacious and the food on board is delicious.

This is an organised and well run outfit. I have been there throughout the troubles in recent years and never felt unsafe or worried. Excellent operations like this will always continue to win my repeat business.

Thanks to all of you for making the place so special.

My boyfriend and I, have spent our vacations in Sharm El Sheikh and we've been plenty of times to the Camel Dive for food and drinks. This place is great! The Italian restaurant Pomodoro and the Indian restaurant are excellent as much as the buffet for lunch. You have to taste their burger! Best one ever. There are different bars, one on the groundfloor to feel the atmosphere of the exciting nignts, one of the first floor more quiet, a sport bar with karaoke and the must the rooftop bar with a peace and quite atmosphere and an amazing view...
The staff is also excellent, really professional and pleasant. You really feell confortable and everyone seems to be a special guest for them.
Thank you very much to all the team that has made our stay unforgatable. We will definitely come back.
PS: you have to try their ice-cream too!
