Savoy Sharm El Sheikh

I stayed from 19th to 26 of January and it was exactly what I needed: a nice week in a sunny paradise without any worries.
I liked the garden so much! I mean I had read about the beach and the good service and everything, but admiring the sunrise from my huge balcony, with all the nice exotic trees and flowers, that was something to remember! Thank you, the guys who take care of it!
The other surprise was that the most beautiful fishes could be found right at the hotel beach.

The service was very good, everybody helpful, especially the guys at the restaurant and on the beach. And I must say that as a female solo traveler, I felt safe at all times.

Of course the food was excellent! I never had lunch because the breakfast was so rich. Tried two different Egyptian wines, Jardin du Nile and the other one, both white.

The Soho square was useful as a place to go evenings for people-watching, or to buy a bottle of water(OK, I also bought a beautiful patchwork tablecloth and some Egyptian glass), but it reminded me of a little copy of Las Vegas. Not exactly my cup of tea. But the hotel was something else, like some mirage from the old times when people had time to enjoy.
I would definitely stay at the Savoy again.

Room Tip: I was upgraded to the sea view (nice sunrises!) but the garden was extremely beautiful so I think I...

Dear Reviewer,

I would like to thank you for your very positive review of your recent stay at The Savoy Hotel. We are delighted that you liked our resort with all its facilities and services. The Savoy has earned a reputation second to none for outstanding quality and service. Every feature has been designed to enhance our guests' experience.

Many thanks for the excellent rating of our landscape facilities. We have a great team looking after our tropical gardens and rare plants and trees as well as the public area cleaners who maintain their very high standards throughout the resort.

The high-quality restaurants at the Savoy Hotel reflect the authenticity of each tradition. Each restaurant has been designed to provide unobtrusive intimacy for those wishing privacy and the flexibility to accommodate family and larger groups. The Hot Rock restaurant you highlighted with the Roman design, nice atmosphere and music. Cooking your own choice of meat or fish on a hot rock to your own taste can be very satisfying and Soho Square – a great entertainment centre to have on the doorstep. A hassle-free, safe place to dine be entertained, to shop, to meet friends.

We would love you to come back and enjoy the variety of SOHO entertainment that includes live bands, oriental shows, Chinese acrobats, fire shows, international shows, Cuban bands, an Egyptian lute performer, international animation team, dancing fountain and a great nightlife. All this entertainment is arranged to cater for all tourists to Sharm el Sheikh, not just SAVOY guests.

Thank you for taking the time to post this review and we look forward to seeing you again for another memorable holiday.
Kind regards,
Jacques PETER

We had enjoyed our holiday in Feb 2013 so much that we decided to return in Feb 2014 - we reduced the cost by staying in Garden View - on reflection would have opted for Sea View where you get a balcony.
Last time we asked for a double bed and didn't get one - this time we got a king size!
The hotel also organised our pick up from airport and this was a massively better experience than waiting in a group at the airport for pre-paid transport through the tour operator.
The lack of guests meant that only 2 of the 6 on site restaurants were open every day which was a disappointment

Room Tip: See comments above, we reckon having done both that the Sea View option is worth the extra.

Dear Steven,

I would like to cordially thank you for your very positive summary referring to your 02nd visit to The Savoy Hotel. We are delighted that you liked our resort with all its facilities and service.

Surprised to read about lack of restaurants , I may point out that SAVOY Hotel Including SOHO Square has 36 F&B outlets including 14 fine a la carte signature restaurants serving authentic food from all continents.

Having said that I am delighted that you had some lovely, thoughtful comments about our airport pick up service and we thank you for your kind words.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the Savoy.

We arrived on 24th February for a 7 day break. We stayed in this hotel in October 2013 with other members of family and thoroughly enjoyed it so much it was the reason why my wife and I decided to return. We opted for "S" Class which is what we had in October, and the extras that came with the vouchers for being in "S" Class, ie. laundry vouchers, free massages and other facilities were a real extra treat. The Hotel has once again excelled itself. We were given a ground floor pool room which we had requested and actually was the same one we had in October. The cleanliness of the Hotel is excellent, and the staff each and everyone of them excelled themselves in making sure that our stay was once again perfect. Anything that we required the staff were there to see to us immediately. Food was excellent in both the Hotel and also on Soho Square which we visited, and the staff there were also very helpful and friendly. We would definitely recommend this Hotel without any hesitation. We will be visiting again without a doubt

Room Tip: Pool view rooms are excellent especially if you want to be quite central to all of the venues.

Dear Keith & Ann Marley ,

I’m so pleased you enjoyed your 02nd holiday with us and will certainly return. Thank you for choosing the Savoy and for the positive feedback concerning our staff and the quality of service.

The S-Class all-inclusive is probably the best plan in Egypt in that you have so many eating and drinking options during your stay as well as a free massage, laundry, bowling and ice skating. And then quality of the restaurants would rival many a top London establishment.

It has been wonderful hosting you and we look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back in the not-too-distant future.

Kind regards,

We arrived here on 20th February for an eleven day break.
Just the right place to re charge batteries!
This hotel is quite superb, it is very well run and maintained. The facilities are excellent,
We had a room in block 5, number 5111, which was attended to twice a day and any request, eg extra pillows etc, was attended to fairly immediately.
The laundry vouchers were much appreciated as was the 2 free massages in the hotel's Well Being Spa
We opted for " S " class which means "all inclusive". It was the best " All inclusive " opportunity that we have ever experienced. The choice of resteraunts was vast,
The best, in our opinion, was the Italian "Rosemarina" to be found in a romantic corner which embraced authentic, Italian cuisine and ambiance. A big thank you to Alfred and his hard working staff, they made our visits there special!
The sea food bar serving lunch was also another favourite, wonderful fish, great position just above the beach!
Evening drinks in the Safari bar were much enjoyed, thank you Eid for all your efforts on our behalf.
The Safari bar is atmospheric, attractively lit with quiet back ground music in evidence. A good place to be, prior to, and after supper!
All in all we commend the hotel management and thank all the staff for their unfailing care and concern.
If we return to Sharm El Sheikh, we would come back to The Saovy.

Bit of a late review... We stayed over Christmas, from 22 to 29 December. Me, husband, our little boy and mother and mother in law (the nans).

We were a bit cautious about Sharm due to bad stories about dirty hotels and rubbish food, but we wanted somewhere that would be warm with a shortish flight for Christmas so decided to give the Savoy a go. We booked via Olympic Holidays.

Transfers - really quick and efficient, no waiting.

Check in - quick and efficient, got a nice welcome drinks, our room was ready straight away and we were helped with our luggage. We were given rooms next to each other (me and husband in one, two nans in the other), and a cot for our toddler as requested.

Rooms - we were on level six, with inland/pool views. Although close to reception, level six is a bit of trek to the pool if you have small children and lots to carry. It's not a massive deal though. Rooms were clean and spacious, although the bathroom needed a bit of TLC (re-grouting etc). Not dirty as such, just a bit worn. Balcony was lovely, beds comfy.

Food - on our first night we ate at the buffet, and later found out it had been Russian/Eastern European night, which explained everything! We didn't go back to the buffet for dinner, but breakfast there was nice each day. Our toddler was always given a highchair quickly, and a little toy by the staff, which was a nice gesture. We also ate in Rosmarino, the fusion Greek/Italian in Soho Square, the Egyptian, Bombay, the poolside bar and had room service a few times. I'm veggie and toddler is fairly fussy, but we found plenty to eat and part from the Russian night, we liked most of the food.

We enjoyed lots of drinks in the Safari bar, where you can take kids if you sit on the terrace, which seemed fair.

We didn't go S Class, as realistically we weren't going to do much drinking with a two-year-old in tow, and the nans don't eat very much, and our bar/food bill was around £1000 for four of us at the end of the week. Upgrading to S Class would have been more expensive, around £70 per day I think!

Pools - only one was heated, but it was never that busy. Loungers always available. Had a few swims in the sea but it was pretty windy so mostly stuck to the pools. Everything clean and nice, although agro having to remember five towel cards whenever we were going to the pool.

We didn't get a chance to use the spa or gym, but the spa smelt lovely whenever we walked past.

Kids club - we didn't really use this, just poked our heads in and did a bit of a colouring with our little boy. The Russian girl in charge seemed nice enough.

Christmas eve - included in our package was Christmas Eve gala dinner, which was fantastic. It started off with camels and wise men at the lobby, and a procession to Egypt Hall for the dinner. There was a rather moody Russian Santa though. Kids were given a goodie bag to keep them quiet, and a separate area where they could eat and run amok. We didn't leave our little boy as he was too small, but the effort and attention to detail in the kids' area was fantastic (own buffet, mini cocktails, movies, painting, etc).

We felt safe all the time, and Soho Square was cheesy but good fun.

We had to use the hotel medical centre on Christmas Day, and the doctor was lovely and the medicine for our little boy delivered quickly straight to our room.

We would definitely return; I remember commenting to my partner that he hadn't moaned about anything during our entire stay, which is very, very rare...

Room Tip: Rooms on level six are a bit of a trek away from the pool and beach if you have small children.

Dear Reviewer,

May we take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a Happy New Year and to extend our thanks to you for choosing the Savoy for your holiday and for writing this “Lovely ” review.

Christmas is indeed a wonderful time here and although we can’t bring you snow, we try to make it as Christmassy as possible for our British and European guests. We have fun with the kids on the beach and sumptuous gala dinners for the parents as you mentioned. The staff love this festive season too and everyone gets into the spirit of joy and celebration.

We are also very concerned to read about unique S-Class Concept supplement is expensive . The S-Class all-inclusive is probably the best plan in Egypt in that you have so many eating and drinking options during your stay as well as a free massage, laundry, bowling and ice skating. And then quality of the restaurants would rival many a top London establishment. According to our S-Class formula, we provide our guests with a wide variety of dining options in 14 different à la carte restaurants. At Soho Square, everybody enjoys a high standard of recreational facilities, including a variety of international entertainment and hassle-free shopping in one safe, managed resort. As we aim for a relaxing stay, we do provide a free massage session, bowling alley, billiards, and tennis and Ice-skating access.

You comment about room’s bathroom needs grouting . Unfortunately you do not give your room number and we have no way of checking that particular room but all our rooms are very spacious and furnished to the highest degree with high quality hardwood furniture and fixtures and fittings imported from Italy, Germany, USA and numerous other places. No expense was spared in the designing and furnishing of these rooms. And you are right, we are indeed in the process of refurbishing some rooms and many have already been completed.

Having said that I am delighted that you had some lovely, thoughtful comments about our staff and our service and we thank you for your kind words.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the Savoy.

Kind regards,

Jacques PETER

Cannot begin to put in words how amazing this hotel was. From start to finish we could not fault the service, food, facilities or the staff.
We travelled at half term and the hotel was not overcrowded and never once did we need to fight for sunbeds - the other guests were mainly Eastern European and Egyptian and this was probably the reason for that as they do not feel the need to get up at 6am to lay towels to beat others to it.
My son is 5 and he had the best holiday ever spending his days down at the jettys watching the fish and paddling in the sea.
Service is the stand out factor from our holiday. Every member of staff is courteous, polite and genuinely interested in ensuring your every need is not only met but exceeded.
The Savoy is attached to "SOHO SQUARE" - this is a large entertainment area with shops, bars, restaurants, outdoor entertainment and seating area, ice rink, bowling alley but the list is endless.
The hotel grounds are extensive and the pool and the beach are spacious and well tended.
Beach days are great fun and the staff ensure that you know all about any trips/excursions that will enhance your experience of Sharm. Dolphin swim, Submarine, Speedboat, Banana and donut rides, snorkelling and scuba. Never over sold but always with enthusiasm and knowledge. Sunbeds are readily available and Mohammed makes sure you have your beds saved in the same place every day and looks after you all day long.
The hotel is traditionally furnished and whilst not of the "contemporary" style that other 5* hotels in sharm the rooms are spacious, comfortable and well equipped with tea/coffee facilities, free in room safe and flat screen tv.
The dining experience is outstanding. The hotel offers B&B, Half and full board and also "s class" all inclusive. We are not big drinkers so we chose bed & breakfast as our board basis and this definatley worked best for us. Breakfast is adequate with continental and hot dishes to choose from. Lunch menu at the pool bar is varied and all food was delicious. Evenings is where the hotel stands out from the crowd. The hotel as several restaurants - Italian, hot stone, eastern, Mediterranean, seafood/seaview and also the main buffet restaurant has theme evenings for variety. Soho Square has lots of restaurants - Chinese,Thai, Steak, Egyptian, Tepanyaki, Indian and guests of the savoy get 25% reduction on food bills. We could not believe how reasonable the prices were and with 25% off it was amazing value. The food was excellent and I would personally recommend The Indian, Chinese and Steak restaurants as these were our favourites.
Overall it was a great value 5* holiday which was absolutely faultless.
Savoy service and Experience - out of this world

Dear Guest,

Thank you for the “Sublime ” review. It’s great to hear that you really enjoyed your holiday with us. The fact that we have 14 à la carte restaurants to enjoy on S Class helps a lot in terms of adding variety to your holiday. We have three large pools and a gorgeous beach with an amazing coral reef to explore so if relaxation is what you’re looking for, you’ll find it here.

Soho Square is just a few steps away and is the entertainment centre for Sharm El Sheikh. It is home to countless hassle-free shops, bars, restaurants, cafés and boasts an ice skating rink, a bowling alley, a cinema showing the history of Egypt on panoramic, wrap-around screens and an amazing dancing fountain with light, music and fire! And if you get a little hot during the day, pop into Africa’s only Ice Bar for an uplifting experience. The centre stage hosts all kinds of acts including singers, bands, acrobats and other entertainers while the Crystal Live Lounge is a chic, intimate bar for pre- or post-dinner drinks to the smooth tones of an international vocalist every night.

Here at the Savoy, we believe that having choices is one of the most important factors of a good holiday so we have developed our resort into a small world of choices to keep our guests entertained and amused during their stay. But of course, for those who just want to chill, the beach, the pools, the spa and the lounges and bars will be just perfect.

In addition, we are very happy to learn that the service which you experienced from our staff met or even exceeded your expectations; we are fortunate and very proud of the commitment from our staff. I shall pass your kind words on to them.

We all look forward to seeing you again soon.

Kind regards,

Jacques PETER

We had a fantastic time at the Savoy, Amazing staff who value your custom and really tend to your every need. We stayed S Class, couldn't want for anything. Hotel staff really go out of their way to ensure that you are truly rested.
Food was great (even for vegetarians) local drinks were really good, cocktail menu and the quality of the food was amazing.
We met some lovely people, spent some quality family time around the pool.
The poolside staff were very professional, polite and ensured that there was always water on ice, clean dry towels and our sun beds were ready every day (no waking early to reserve)
Wonderful, would def go again...thank you Yahya, Magud, Shaker and all at the poolside bar, the concierge who gave us a ride home every evening on the golf buggies, and last but not least the ground staff who presented us with lovely flowers.
All in all a wonderful experience, its such a shame that the region gets such a hammering as a result of local troubles. we saw nothing except a highly visible tourist police with semi automatic weapons, checkpoints to ensure safety. inside the resort was peaceful and tranquil, no problems and not even a hint of tension...thank you to all at the Savoy, quality and professional customer service that ensured a lovely holiday. something that the British tourist industry could definitely learn from...customer service....nothing was a problem.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your “ Amazing” review . We will pass your compliments on to those staff you highlighted and also to those who support them in the background. They all work tirelessly to ensure that our guests get the best out their stay with us and we are grateful for your praise.

The S-Class all-inclusive is probably the best plan in Egypt in that you have so many eating and drinking options during your stay as well as a free massage, laundry, bowling and ice skating. And then quality of the restaurants would rival many a top London establishment.

You have written such a detailed and comprehensive review extolling the virtues of all the staff you met and all the facilities that you enjoyed here at the Savoy. We do try hard and it’s wonderful when the staff get the recognition they deserve.

We have never seen or experienced any unrest or demonstrations in Sharm El Sheikh during this entire period since the revolution some 3 years ago. The “City of Peace and Tranquility” is very well protected in that there is only one road in and one road out and this is very well patrolled by police and the military with several checkpoints along the way. There is also a strong military presence around the airport and the bigger resorts (including ours) and we find this very reassuring. Having said that, the effect on the tourists themselves is negligible. All tourists are free to go and do what tourists have always done here as the current government is fully aware of the importance of tourism to the economy of Egypt and is doing everything possible to ensure that the tourists have a wonderful time here and will go home and tell their friends and family how calm everything is.

Thank you for your review and we look forward to your next visit.

Kind regards,

Jacques PETER
