“OH OH OH ITS MAGIC”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 January 2014

Just got back from the Club Magic abit of a cock up on the room front but soon sorted out, we paid for a pool view & they stuck us in the back & beyond after a couple of hours we soon got it sorted out & moved to a lovely sunny pool view room. Our room was cleaned every day it was magic to see the sun going down from our balcony every night. The pool area isn't cleaned very well as there was a piece of pastry on the wall by the pool all week. The pool is very large slightly warm but it will feel cool when you have been sun bathing. The food was very good for the first few days then it tended to get very poor, chicken under cooked, fish not cooked properly they always seemed to be in a rush when people are queuing. You won't go hungry as there was always plenty of other dishes to choose from. We tended to have a good lunch & something light at dinner. A few things going on in the day time, the evening entertainment could do with some improvement. Most of the guest were German ( say no more ) Overall we had a great week yes we would return but it would have to be cheaper.

Room Tip: Our room number was 18315 great for sun all day

Visited here for 15 nights back end of October 2013 into November.
I would call this a good hotel overall but could be so much better.
Un beknown to us when booking the hotel it had lost its platinum status something which Thomson failed to inform us about.
The Quality of food here is very good and being in the business myself I would say that there is a lot of choice and standards are very high and anyone who said they could not find something they liked to eat are barking mad!
Rooms are of a good standard but not like a 4/5 star quality like in Mexico or the States.
Entertainment is good enough for you to have an enjoyable evening.
The 24 hour bar was a bonus if you wanted that sort of thing and there is a lot of other nice lounges to visit, beach bar handy when down their on the beach.
Pools good standard but if you wanted a place around the edge of the pool no chance unless you are up at 6/7am with the towel on the lounger crowd!!
Staff very friendly especially the boys in Eagles lounge.
Biggest problems here are the mossies my god I don't normally get bitten however 75 times in the first 2 days and they where crackers of bites after that it was a case of covering your self in repellent.
The reps from the spa are a nightmare hustling for business day in day out to try a massage at silly prices and they do not give up each day they are around you pestering you for business and it is hard not to loose your temper because all you are wanting is to relax not have someone blocking the sun out crouching down beside you with their sales patter, pity I did not have a cattle prod at hand.
Lastly drink quality is poor, local beer only after 1 or 2 day's you get fed up with it and it is more of a thing its cold to drink, wine average to say the least, cocktails are all vodka/gin type based with the addition of syrup flavourings instead of the real thing like coffee syrup instead of Tia maria or that type of liquer if you know what I mean.
The previous year I had heard from holiday makers from other years they had a choice of beer with imported spirits and real liquers and this was one of the reasons they lost its platinum status.
Overall I would say the place is good for the money you pay but if you want something more special spend a little more and go to Mexico.

As a couple we stayed for 10 nights from 5th to 15th Jan.

Minor niggles out of the way first.... We stayed in block 14 on 3rd floor overlooking 'gardens' went for top floor thinking the room / balcony would be flooded with sunny heat...Alas not. Huge palm trees to shade the balcony meant at this time of year, the rooms got a little chilly. Easy fixed...heating / aircon on...The Niggle being...We thought...hmmm, gardens = peace and tranquility. :-( BOOM BOOM BOOM from the fitness area that we overlooked . TURN THE MUSIC OR BASE DOWN GUYS!!! NOT neccesary and invasive!

Grounds/ gardens immaculate. always being maintained/ pruned etc. Lovely to walk around.

Rooms.... Good size. En suite with shower cubicle. Plenty of storage. Safe in the room. mini fridge . HUGE beds. Two LARGE single which we had pushed together to make HUGE kingsized. I totally agree with many of the reviews on the rooms. They are a little tired looking. The walls looked freshly painted but woodwork....of which there is a lot, is dark and rather bashed in places. It could do with a serious brightening up / revamp. Chairs worn. bedding sometimes bobbly(though spotlessly clean) . Bathrooms are aged with grey grout covering white...where it has come out it looks grubby. Towels quite aged/ worn.(but again spotlessly clean) BUT getting past the tired look, it is fair to say that the rooms are kept immaculately clean by the hard working cleaners who do a thorough job!

Sunbathing / swimming. We tried the main activity pool a few times . HUGE and clean and LOTS of activity throughout the day. Bar in the centre of pools. Looks great but wasn't for us. It seems that the repetative mixes of 'club style' boom boom boom is what is enjoyed by the young DJ's of Magic Life. Must be getting old! Not a problem though as the private beach was a tranquil haven with it's own bar for drinks. Sunbeds easy to get and shaded under parasols if required. a lovely walk down a private jetty which ends where the reef began. |Even if you don't swim, you can view some sea life from here. Stunning! Sadly for us...we only discovered towards the end of our holiday that there is a Relax pool. again with it's own bar... seriously...you would hear a pin drop! Tranquility. Take your first few hours to acquaint yourself with the place!

Bars.... you sure won't go without a drink wherever you are in the grounds. Drinks available everywhere and bottled water aplenty! Spirits fine ...watch out...STRONG! Think your ok till you stand up to walk away!! haha. Cocktails varied and yummy. Wine pleasant.(white anyway ...didn't try red.)

Entertainment....You may have guessed...we like peace. BUT, seems that there was enough entertainment on to draw crowds to the area if that is your thing. We preferred the quieter Eagles bar. But seriously, there is somewhere for everybody and wherever you go...people watching is entertainment in itself :-)

Now my favourite bit...RESTAURANTS!!! FABULOUS!! We seriously could not fault the food which seemed to be available somewhere in some form, from 7 30 am until midnight! Our favourite though was the buffet restaurant, The only problem...what to choose! Something for everybody. Lots of proud chefs.manning their stations and serving up fantastic salads, meats, fish, grills (kebebs/steak/ fish / chicken...) and some of the tastiest curries and local dishes I have ever had. vegetarian choices tasty and excellent. pasta pizza and chips bar . Fresh fruits. cheeses. soups breads...You name it! Desserts...WOW! HUGE range. Varied colours of some tastless cakes BUT try the local desserts and pastries ...YUMMY!!!!! Breakfasts Eggs however you like...plus savoury dishes...yogurts...fruits...cereals, toast, bread, pastries, cheese cold meats...EVEN SOUP!! Coffee and juices. Can you tell that we enjoyed it? I will miss this place! Back to cooking!
For a change there are 3 a la carte restaurants . prebookable day before you wish to eat there. If busy get to booking reception early as it did take us a few days of trying to get into the Thai. Which was worth a visit, Food good but we felt the service was a little rushed. we didn't try the other 2 restaurants simply because...The buffet do an Egyptian night once a week and the choice surpasses that of the restaurant and the food excellent. The mediteranean..mostly fish...which is fine but this also is available in the buffet with much more choice of accompaniments.
Staff...Mixed really. we found some of the 'managers a little 'full of themselves' with one invading a conversation we were having to question 'why we move a table?' He was quite upset and positively rude to us because we moved it a foot to enable.. a) our privacy and b) ease of putting drink down. Get a life and try asking are we having a nice time!
A cheeky banter amongst some staff and aloofness from others. Ignorance from some. But...they work long hours and never stop. I have got to give a mention to one member of team. Waiter for lunch and Dinner in non smoking area outside Buffet restaurant..Mohamed Nabil...YOU were a star! Your English fantastic. Service excellent and thank yo so much for going the extra mile when my partner was ill. I felt that you really helped and looked after us with a kind heart. I hope your life wishes come true .

EXTRA... we needed a doctor whilst there. As there is a resident doc this was easy...we approached with dread thinking..'we are going to get ripped off here!' Not the case...We were met by a very caring doctor who after a thorough examination of my partner, gave required medication and told us to go back the next day. Due to illness (namely chest infestion) we couldn't but on day of leaving we went in the morning( still very ill) Whereupon my partner was given and injection of steroids to help whilst returning home. He dealt with insurance and cost were minimal anyway. Thank you doc!

Would we recommend this place YES!!!! Want 5 star luxury...go somewhere else and pay more. Value for money here but NOT 5 star accommodation:-) Would we return? YES!!

Room Tip: Block 21 looks tranquil!!

We travelled on Boxing Day for 11 nights. The transfer from the airport was the quickest I have ever witnessed. On arrival we were greeted with hot flannels and a lovely drink.

This hotel is fantastic. Its a huge complex. The rooms are immaculate, even if they are a little dated. The dining area is massive and the food was excellent, loads of chefs cooking fresh stuff constantly, so much to choose from even the fussiest person would be fine here. There are also 3 a la carte restaurants and the standard of food here is also 1st class. There are 2 pools a large main one that was quite busy most of the time and a quieter relax pool which suited us.

The entertainment wasn't bad and there was a choice of a few different bars to sit in - it was almost 24 hrs on the go! The cocktails are absolutely delicious and all of the spirits and mixers were all very drinkable and the beer and iced coffees were very nice too. I have to say the bar staff in the EAGLES BAR (Omar and Sam) couldn't do enough for you they never stop and they are so funny they love a bit banter with you - a little tipping goes a long way all over the hotel and they deserve it as they have a smile on their faces constantly and never sit still.

The New Years Eve/Day celebrations were fantastic they really put themselves out with the lights, fireworks, fabulous carved food displays, reggae band and champagne glass displays - again It was very special.

Would I go back to this hotel? In a heartbeat - well worth every penny!

We have just returned after 12 days holiday at the Club Magic Life. We have had a fantastic time, the food was excellent with choices to suit everyones needs, The Hotel staff were very friendly, always on hand to help and share jokes. The rooms were spacious with lovely large balconies, Ours overlooked the gardens which were beautiful both to look at and walk through. Everything was kept immaculate. Constant entertainment was at hand although we ourselves went to the beach. Here you had individual static windbreaks which not only shielded you from the sun but also gave some privacy. There was also a quiet pool where no music, balls or lilos were allowed for those who preferred the peace, Beside each group of steps were ramps for the disabled or pushchairs. There are no lifts for the apartments so a ground floor apartment would have to be requested. I would have no problem in recommending this hotel to anyone.

We were at Club Magic Life from 23 December to 6 January. The gala dinners held on Christmas Eve and Hogmanay were absolutely fantastic with stunning displays of food. The attention to detail and presentation of the food was magnificent. The firework display on Hogmanay was great although a bit close for comfort within the lobby terrace with sparks landing on top of us. Health and safety isn’t to the same standards as we have at home!

We dined in all three a la carte restaurants twice and thoroughly enjoyed every one of them. It was nice to have dinner served to us rather than the help yourself buffet in the main restaurant.

The coffee shop in the Tower is a must for cake lovers. They serve a chocolate cake that isn’t too sickly and my husband enjoyed the cheesecake most days too.

The hotel itself is definitely not a 5 star going by British standards however, the staff and facilities are very good. Our room was on the top floor of block 22 and we had a great view of the relax pool. The fixtures and fittings in the room are dated and tired and could do with a major refurb. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well every night. Our shower wasn’t very powerful, but we put that down to us being on the top floor. The air conditioner/heater was extremely noisy so thankfully it wasn’t needed during the night due to low temperatures at this time of year. I expect that in the summer time when it would be required all day, it would pose a bit of a nuisance. We had fresh towels every day and the guy who cleaned our room left some lovely towel art for us throughout the holiday.

As others have said, due to the time of year, the sun didn’t reach all parts of the relax pool so it was a bit of a pain to have to get up early to secure sunbeds in a good spot. On saying that, as the day wore on, guests in the shade just dragged their sunbeds into a sunny spot so that they could get the most of the sun before it went down behind the buildings at 4pm.

We didn’t have any massages or spa treatments and although we were approached within 15 mins of sitting at the pool on the first day, we found that by giving a firm no, we weren’t bothered again for the rest of the holiday.

We were fortunate not to be bitten by mosquitoes, but they were very much in evidence as quite a few people had upwards of 50 bites on their legs, some of which looked really nasty. Neither of us had tummy upsets either which was something I worried about.

All in all, a good holiday, but I don’t think I would return to this hotel any time soon as I think there are probably better fitted out hotels in Sharm.

Room Tip: Block 22 overlooked the relax pool
