Firstly All my comments are positive towards this MAINLY ENGLISH hotel, hope this makes it easy.
The transfer to the hotel is around 15mins- Bonus!
This is your typical Egyptian mass market hotel design, long drive through well presented gardens, to a surprisingly low key entrance and lobby. Checking in was painless and our bags were taken to our room, all quite normal.
We've stayed in Sharm on two previous occasions, so were no strangers to tipping etc...
We were in BLOCK 18 this was perfect, close to the pool, reception, restaurant, beach and a al carte restaurants. Our room was big and comfortable with very efficient air con (set at 16 for day and 14deg C for night!). The telly was a 26" lcd with HDMI connections and a usb port for charging ipads ipod phones etc... EXCELLENT! You get all the standard stuff, mini fridge (charged for drinks), hair dryer, safe, HARD BEDS (ask for a topper mattress if you don't like hard beds) and a balcony.
We arrived 27th April an found the hotel about 1/3 full, on the 4th day it was 3/4 full! just right :-)
WiFi the hotel has three types of wifi, a)Free, but pretty useless lobby and outside seating area range, b)Chargeable (£40 per week as an example) all over and c)An unadvertised 1hr free per day connection, go to reception and ask for FREE TOKEN CODE
Food is well above average with good variation and quality, ALL FOOD IS PREPARED WITH BOTTLED WATER. A la carte are worth the effort of booking
The main pool is massive, split into three sections, plenty of sunbeds, with a bar located centrally. There's also a 'relax' pool located near the front of the hotel with it's own bar, it's fairly large but is full so get in early, this wasn't my kind of scene as it was too relaxing and quiet. The entertainment team were on form and enthusiastic with all the activity based around the main pool area.
NEGATIVE- Wellness team hassle you around the pool and are commission based, We had a facial (my first) I had a hair cut and two cut-throat shaves. I'd say service was on par with all other hotels, namely pretty average.
Night entertainment is good enough to keep you in the hotel with all the standard stuff doing the rounds.
DRINKS all free, and strangely for Egypt all inclusive, close enough to 'branded' spirits, my girlfriend drinks Bacardi and coke, she drank this all the time. I had a couple of vodka and oranges and was pleasantly surprised, the beer is okay too! A word of WARNING tread carefully with the cocktails, they're pretty gruesome, so have one or two for a laugh.
To sum up this hotel, it's a little tired and could do with a lick of paint here and there, the hotel staff are faultless, the general atmosphere is great, the food sets the standard for this type of hotel, the Thomson reps are on hand 08:30-12:00 and 17:00-20:00. GREAT HOTEL
We were lucky to have Magic and Sensatori (late deals) as two possibilities for our holiday
Che (English rep) organised a trip for my partner and I to view the sensatori, what an eye opener, this is a Thomson's' flag ship hotel and another world! But if you look on Trip advisor the main complaint about Sensatori is lack of sunbeds, go figure.
