“Fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

A party of 9 including 3 couples 2x 16 yr old boys and a ten year old girl, we stayed at club magic life for 2wks and couldn't fault it. The food was amazing, despite the fact that we didn't visit the a la carte restaurants. The entertainment team were brilliant especially Luis and Zizo, they catered for all ages and didn't push people who didn't want to join in. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean, with mini bar stocked daily. Special thanks to Wael Mamdoh and Mohammad Adel two waiters who made our holiday fun, and my birthday extra special. The pool party and beach party were great and there was plenty of other night time entertainment. The beach was beautiful and snorkelling easy to do from the jetty. The only suggestion we would make would be to put some pool/ snooker tables upstairs in the American fun pub and play music videos rather than football. We had a brilliant holiday here and are hoping to return with more of our family next year .

Room Tip: Block 14 overlooks pool but heard no noise

I went with a friend for a girly, chilled week and we had a great experience! The other guests were mainly families and couples which I think it's perfect for although I would still definitely recommend it for groups of friends looking for a chilled holiday together. The hotel caters for everyone, during the day there's a relax pool if you want to sunbathe in peace or if you prefer a bit more atmosphere, the main pool plays music and has pool games during the day but it's big enough to not be thrust in the middle of it if you prefer to be a spectator. The beach is very stoney and the water is full of coral so no one sunbathed on the beach, however there is a jetty and snorkelling equipment if you wish to swim in the sea.
In the evening, there's hotel entertainment which is very basic but easy enough to watch/listen to in the background whilst having a cocktail. If you'd prefer a more lively and party atmosphere there are popular bars and clubs within a short taxi ride. There are a few drinks bars around the hotel to get cocktails from and also a shisha area which was nice to chill out in with a cup of mint tea.
As far as an all inclusive goes, the food was very nice. The breakfast was pretty standard with hot and cold food (eggs, pancakes, meats, salads, pastries etc) but it was lacking slightly if you wanted a full English, no tomatoes, beans or bacon. The lunch and dinner was fantastic, every day was totally different, some days had a theme, with a full range from delicious meats and salads to chips and pizza. The á la carte restaurants were great, amazing setting and it broke up the week from the buffet.
The service and staff were very good, Egypt does have a reputation and friends have had bad experiences due to being hassled and made to feel uncomfortable and this was something we were weary of, however inside the hotel the staff were professional and friendly and we felt very confident all around the hotel. There's also an on site Doctor, which made a massive difference to our holiday as my friend had tonsillitis the day we arrived which he treated and took payment through the travel insurance. This was a massive advantage having a trusted doctor on site, the prospect of having to go to random doctor outside of the hotel who could charge us sky high prices for medication that could have been anything was very daunting.
There is a tipping culture in Egypt, however in the hotel we didn't feel any pressure to tip at all, we left a tip for our maid at the end of the week, and had to even run after the bell boy to give him a tip on arrival.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone, during our week I didn't hear one complaint from any guest and it really caters for everyone. Great holiday! :)

The hotel is lovely and big and clean. We had a junior suite which again was really big with two double beds and two singles for the children. The fridge was constantly stock and the towels were changed daily. The pools are nice and big and the are no problems ever getting a sunbed as there are loads with shade and never a rush to go down early to get one. The restaurant is again big and air conditioned and has plenty to choose from with a different theme each night on a two weekly rota, the only issue was the children can only have ice cream during lunch as chef doesn't want it served any other time. The staff are lovely and friendly any where in the hotel. Plenty of bars to choose from to have coffee and cake in the afternoon or cocktails on the evening. The entertainment is hotel run which is ok during day but not brilliant for the kids only if you like football, there was no pool activities only for adults which was very disappointing as it us really hot, and too hot to run around. The shows they put on of an evening were very good at the amphitheater but make sure you take mozzy spray....huge tip for any one going DONT go for the end of Ramadan as lots of rich locals go to celebrate and left it in a state, they were dirty, messy, rude and would take anything they could get there hands on towels, airbeds, sunbeds of your sun cream. Apart from that it was a lovely enjoyable holiday and would recommend it.

Room Tip: Can recommend the suite if you have children as was very spacious .

We stayed in Club Magic Life for 11 nights in late July/early August as a couple in our late twenties. Having not been to Sharm since our teens, we cannot really compare this hotel with others in the resort but compared to others we have been to, this is easily the best we have stayed in.

Our flight landed at around 8:30pm local time and the transition from the airport to checking in was very smooth (taking into account the usual long queue at Egyptian passport control). The hotel was the first drop off, around 15 minutes max from the airport. When we arrived, we were ushered straight through to the restaurant where we could catch the last few minutes of the evenings cuisine. The food on offer was still fresh, cooked well and plentiful. Once we had eaten we went back to reception to check in, where we were greeted by cold flannels and a refreshing orange drink while we waited. A bell boy showed us to our room where we waited for a little while for our bags to follow.

The room we stayed in (20311) was in block 20, just behind the relax pool, far enough from the the hustle and bustle but close enough so that it wasn't so much of a long walk from the hub of the complex. We found our room to be more than spacious with an extremely comfortable bed, ample room for storage, tea/coffee facilities, balcony and the bathroom was beautiful. Each day the room was cleaned very well, with the cleaner asking each day if everything was OK and if there was anything else that we would like.

The food in the main restaurant was buffet style with show cooking and everything was fresh, with a huge selection of salad in the centre. Each night had a theme where the food would changed, so there was a degree of variety, although after 11 nights it did seem to be a bit repetitive. Despite this, we both felt that the quality of the cooking was very high. If you wanted a change for the evening, you can book one of the three a la carte restaurants providing you book at guest services the morning before. You can choose from Egyptian, Thai and Mediterranean. We visited the Thai twice and Mediterranean once but didn't really fancy the menu of the Egyptian ourselves. We found the waiter service in these were fantastic and you could choose wine (of reasonable quality) as part of the all inclusive. The food here, we both agreed, was beautiful. At no point did we suffer from an upset stomach! The drinks were also fine, the lager was acceptable and there was a long list of cocktails that were still part of the all inclusive that you can order from any of the many bars on site.

We spent most of our time around the relax pool, where Osama and Khaled looked after all of their guests, always providing drinks and snacks with no need to get out of our sunbeds. They were always polite and a good laugh, I know they made a lot of peoples holidays that little bit more special. Mohammed, the pool attendant, also ensured that the pool was immaculate

There was also the activity pool, which looked incredible and had a few sports taking place in them during the day. When we first arrived there were plenty of sunbeds available, but later on during our stay if we got up any later, we struggled to find anything at either pool. We visited the beach a few times and heeded the advice of buying shoes suitable for walking on the coral. This is not a beach where you can just go for a paddle!! If you walk out you can see a few fish and plenty of starfish which is very pleasant but nothing will prepare you for snorkelling off the jetty. The fish we saw here at the edge of the coral were simply astounding. This is a must for anyone visiting here, you could even scuba dive here if you wanted to.

The entertainment team worked really hard throughout the day to provide a wide range of activities to satisfy the guests, and while they would encourage you to take part in things, they were never too pushy. I played some football and my partner played some boccia and darts. The evening entertainment was, to put it kindly, a mixed bag. The dancers they have are undoubtedly very talented but some of the shows left us scratching our heads somewhat!

To echo some of the other grumbles about the spa and wellness team, they were very pushy and we eventually gave in to a couples massage and scrub for £120. Although the massage was very good, they did leave us alone once we had booked! I would not say that this was good value for money though but perhaps we are too nice to say no!

The staff at the hotel, from cleaners to management work tirelessly to keep the grounds immaculate and the service fantastic. All are polite and will say hello all the time and will do all they can to ensure your stay is as great as it can be. In regards to tipping, not once did we feel pressured into tipping as excellent service seemed the standard, but we felt that a lot of their work merited a contribution here and there. I wouldn't say that this changed the service that we received at all. The Thomson reps that were at the hotel also did an excellent job during our time there.

All in all, this was a fantastic holiday. It is hard to think of any real negatives at all. We have never considered returning to a hotel before, but we think if we were to do so it would be Club Magic Life.

Room Tip: Block 20 was great because it was far enough away to be quiet but close enough to be a quick walk to...

I have already visited Egypt two times before, so I knew what to expect.

ROOMS&FACILITIES:
Almost everything is quite dated there, it need reconstructions for sure. On the other hand it is clean. Bed is comfy but for some people would be too hard. Fridge is very small, but offers few bottles for free. Bathroom was ok as well, but you cant expect flawless condition due to the afe of the buildings.

FOOD:
Was the best I have ever experienced, everyday everybody founds something of his tastes. Tastes excelent. On the other hand, pharaoh´s revenge did not miss me, but partner was ok.

BEACH&SEA
Beach is just near the hotel and is amazingly almost empty, because most people are concentrated at the main pool. The sea is shallow for about 200m, then the live coral comes. I have seen better at Sharm, but still, the variety of species is just wonderful.
Contrary, I found annoying the life guard, who keeps an eye on snorcheling people and he dont like people snorcheling (for him) far away.
Beach is kept in excellent condition, cleaned everyday. But I must agree with some guys there, that spa, massage & camel guy are annoying with their approach of finding their clients.

FITNESS CENTER:
Absolutely out of condition. E.g. only two treadmills one of them out of order, and the secon one cant be regulated (keeping just slow speed). Bench is located out of the building, so it wasnt so comfortable to lift weights in 39°C.. Even the muscle machines were not in good shape. Dumbells and weights are also a bit consumed by the time. Unfortunatelly there are no kettlebells.
Eventhough you can get a towel for free from the staff, some people didnt get them, so they usually left disgusting sweat marks everywhere. So the staff should keep an eye on that, I believe.

SERVICE:
The staff can be divided to two sorts by 70/30, one are really outgoing, friendly and kind and the others are dissmisive, annyed all the time.
One thing I loved is that you have free shisha and special tea. In addition the young guy is handy, modest and friendly.
Drinks which they offer are too strong, so they dont taste much. On the other hand, this was the only hotel where I could get 0,6l water bottles with no limits.
Arabs, british and russian people are treated first and better than others, this I found as a huge con, I do believe that everybody should be treated equally.

OTHERS:
Eventhough we had arrived at 7 A.M. we were immidietly accomodated and had an access to the all inclusive.

ALL IN ALL:
It was a good choice for the prize, if you dont expect the 5stars it will positively surprise you. Will return next year.

The hotel is classed as platinum Thompson, it is not. I would rate it a four star. The bathrooms are dated, but the beds are very comfy and lovely big pillows. The balcony furniture is very dated, and they gave you two pegs to hang your stuff up. (Take pegs with you!). The air con worked good as well, and boy did we need it - it was over 50 degrees in August. The food was lovely, lots of variety, really tasty - amazing eggplant mousaka, lots of stews/moroccoan style, chicken tikka was delish.Breakfast eggs are cooked to order. Cant complain about the food. Go to Mai Tai at lunch and have the chicken fajitas, they are cooked to order and are delish. We also booked the Italian rest which was lovely too.

The activity pool was always busy and has wooden umbrellas, that cant be taken down up at all times - which was not great, if you wanted to tan! We could never get a bed there. We would go to the quiet pool, and if you tip Mohammed the lifeguard, he will put some towels out for you. This is only in August when its busy.

Cocktails were lovely, and the guys around the pool work hard to make your holiday.

Wifi - you have to keep going to reception to pick up a code, one for each device, and the wifi lasts an hour. This can make the queue very long in reception and they should just keep wifi free throughout the hotel. It was very slow when it was busy. We used to post things on facebook at 1am when it was fast!

THe downside. I didn't brush my teeth with the water, one night I accidently drank some shower water - yuk! I was always in the pool as it was so hot. A few people were on drips at our hotel as they had caught Egyptian tummy. The hotel says it washing its salad, veg etc in filtered water, but be very careful when you eat outside as lots of people were getting ill. I returned and was very ill with the stomach bug that I ended up in hospital and had dysentery! For this reason, I would not return to Egypt. I feel it is how Turkey was 15 years ago, and hopefully overtime, it will improve. Please feel free to ask me any questions.
