Good value for money overall

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 21 Jan 2013
Just got back from a weeks holiday at Beach Albatross. Overall it's a clean, spacious and friendly resort. The weather was amazing and the beach location was great - crystal clear sea and, being in a cove, this made it great for snorkelling etc. Having never been on an all inclusive holiday before, beach Albatross seemed like an affordable option, however I think in hindsight if we were to do it again we'd choose a slightly more expensive hotel, as the food, drink and amenities could have been nicer. The local spirits and wine weren't great and there was no option to pay for premium drinks, and although the food was good, having the option to eat in different restaurants on site would have been nice. So next time perhaps we will go for something with those options. But you get what you pay for, and for a bargain holiday in the sun, it was just fine.

Stayed here November 30th for 10 days, along with 3 of my friends. We originally booked for 2 rooms, but got given a family room for 4. The room was next to the childrens creche. Very clean rooms, cleaned every day along with fresh towels both for the room and our beach towels. Not far to walk to the main resturant which was excellent service, a varied selection of food, which was delicious. Bottles of water provided at the bar, along with settes made to soft drinks or alcohol. We enjoyed omlettes made to order for breakfast, the beach snack bar served gorgeous pizza, chips, salad or sandwiches for lunch, Evening meals had different cuisines each nite and when that finishes at 9:30pm they serve a smaller selection of food 10:30pm-12am Staff are very friendly and also the animation team were lovely. Every part of the hotel we saw was spotless. The views were to die for had great warm weather. Nice shops dwn the beach along with hairdressers. The old town was excellent for shopping and in Narma Bay fab nitelife but a little expensive. The Manager who stayed a few doors dwn from us was very welcoming, friendly, & helpful. The only thing to be aware of is that it is full of Russians & Germans, I always spk as I find but there was a small number of them very, very rude, ignorant n no manners what so ever!!! Like most human beings we all work hard in our lives to afford to go on holiday to enjoy & relax, my only advise is if u can just stay as far as u can away from them, not to spoil ur holiday!!!! We had a FANTASTIC & AMAZING time at Beach Albetros wld highly recommend to anyone, and cant wait to stay again #amazballs :)))

Room tip: we stayed next to the childrens creche which was inbetween the main resturant & bar, think it was 7020, although u do hear the mosque around 5am ish u get used to it lol :) we had no noise other than that

Went to Beach Albatross for Christmas and new year with our friends. When we arrived we were shown three different rooms and ended up in 3036 and 3037 with great views over the sea. The staff could not do enough for you. The food was good no tummy probs at all. The pizza chef was hilarious always joking. We made some great friends especially the Middlesbrough clan and Jean and Pat. The gala dinners on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve were amazing although there was a lot of mix up with the tickets for Christmas Eve.

The only downside to this hotel was the competition from the local mosques at stupid o'clock in the morning but it is a Muslim country so to be expected.

Don't be out off by views of some people this hotel could be just what you are looking for.

Room tip: 3000 rooms for great views or 7000 rooms for peace and quiet

Looking at the reviews to my right, there's some dis / agreements

1) Food excellent, to the point where I had to go into Naama to eat a burger just to eat some cr@p rather than proper food. Beach bar is spot on for a nice light lunch if you don't want to do the whole "3 squares a day" (which i didn't!)
2) Yes, the Mosque is a bit of a shock on day 1 at 5am, but day1 is the only day it bothered my sleeping. They kick off at various other times of the day and provide quite a pleasant atmosphere!
3) The BIGGEST advocacy for this hotel I can give is the number of repeat visitors I met when I was there, who all loved the place! I am likely to be one of those ppl! :-)

Generally, excellent staff, and while I don't know any different, I followed advice and tipped (~£5 every 3 days!) and was very well looked after both at the beach and whichever bar / restaurant Sayeed was attending. Thank you again sir!!
PLEASE remember these staff work almost entirely for tips, so for a minimal investment by yourself, you make a big difference to another person and hugely improves your experience!

The Russians : Nowhere in Sharm will you NOT encounter them! They are rude, and both us and the egyptians have a low opinion of them ... so despite my tipping advise, you are always likely to get more attention than the Russians, who will vastly outnumber you! I did work with a man who had a Russian wife who explained why this is (and it's cultural!), but they do not show manners to ppl they perceive as being subordinate!

Last comment on the hotel is that the entertainment is mainly aimed at the young and the old and finishes at the very latest 11pm. The Animation Team ARE great, but if you like a "solid" night out it is a little difficult if you're on you're own, as you do need to keep your wits about you if you go into Naama! A couple of women who went into Naama together did get threatened by a taxi driver while i was there! Your Rep should advise you to avoid the Blue and White taxis, but it does mean you have to pre-order your taxi home on a night out!

Room tip: I had a garden view, and a couple that just arrived for xmas / new year had specifically requested next door for their 3 week holiday!

We were dropped off in the dark ~ luckily , as we would not have wanted to have that 'gutted' feeling for the whole of our holiday having seen the other hotels we could have stayed at! The hotel, tho clean and the service excellent, was absolutely NOT a 4 star hotel. We had a family chalet to sleep 5 which was in desperate need of an upgrade and bore no resemblance to the advertised pictures of the rooms. However, they were cleaned daily, towels changed and we didnt spend too much time there, so we just accepted that they wouldnt move us to a better chalet when we asked. What we weren't prepared for were the mosques ~ really not a joke. 5am being the first call to prayer ~ so loud we thought it was actually being 'piped ' into the room! As Chris B said before, 4 times a day ~ everyday ~ and fridays are the finale with a 2 hour stint at lunchtime ~ between the two local mosques! We would absolutely advise against going to this hotel because of this. This was our first trip to Egypt and completely put us off this area. Yes, the views and sunsets are lovely, the staff were great , food was acceptable tho have to say, the fish really wasnt great and one of us only eats fish ~ but in comparison to the areas we saw when we left ~ we felt on the whole that we had stayed in the 'Ghetto' and hadn't seen the best of Sharm El Sheik ~ nowhere near ! Never left a review about anywhere before but hope this may prevent anyone else coming home from here as disappointed as we are. The New Years Gala Dinner was excellent ~ laid on at another Hotel and was the highlight of our holiday. We would probably return to Egypt in the future as the glimpse we caught of the nice areas of Sharm as we returned to the airport on our bus, left us feeling like we hadn't actually been there at all!
