“A true five star experience in every way”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2012

This was just about the best place we have ever stayed on holiday; a really beautiful hotel in a magnificent position right on the Red Sea, five star all the way. The first thing that strikes you is the magnificent layout of the place with terraced pools and gardens and walkways all perfectly designed to compliment one another in a very large area - you will not be cramped or shoved together in this hotel; there is miles of room for everyone, including the three private beaches with their own dedicated reefs - heaven! The hotel public rooms, five restaurants and bars are sublime. Our room was superb by any standards; on the ground floor facing the sea and it was kept clinically clean and perfectly turned out every day. The staff were not only extremely friendly and helpful went out of their way to make sure everything was going well for us on the holiday with genuine concern.
As I have a medical condition at the moment requiring a special diet I was very concerned that I might have a problem so far from home. I need not have worried - a special meal was laid on for me every evening. At breakfast Soya Milk and low fat margerine was laid on for me - all very promptly and with a smile. It was a pity we could not enjoy the fine dining that everybody else enjoyed (the Thai Restaurant looked fantastic) but we can save that for next time hopefully. You will not want to leave this place once you are in it!

Ooh we've missed you Hyatt. For natural beauty, wonderful service, quality house reef and just that quintessential something that makes good hotels great, this place is the one to beat. Others can rival it for one element or another, but nothing can rival the full package. This used to be our regular winter bolt-hole but now with a 2 year old in tow, we wondered how it would stand up to the test. It was fabulous! We took it in turns to lounge in the sun on the sea-facing terrace (hardly a chore) whilst our son slept in the afternoons and the other one of us enjoyed a quality spa treatment, afternoon swim in the beautiful adult only pool, snorkelling outing or a session in the gym. Heaven! Plus this time we got to enjoy buggy rides with the staff, to play on the playground on the beach, dig sandcastles, gaze at fish from the wibbly wobbly bridge, make friends in the kids' club and even enjoy a couple of romantic dinners at Sala Thai, courtesy of the great staff in the kids' club being bookable as babysitters. All other service elements still great, fastidious maintenance and grooming keep the resort like new and the gardens get more beautiful as they mature. A real oasis and a very special place to spend time. Glad that our best times at the Hyatt are not behind us. Looking forward to going back again, soon!

For some reason I didn't have very high expectations for this property, so I am pleased to say I was very pleasantly surprised.

The hotel it self is very well maintained, the staff were on the whole fantastic, the room was comfortable if not spectacular. Very hard to find fault with anything in particular.

I should mention the hotel was only at 30% occupancy so there were plenty of staff on hand. Because of this the bars were empty and the entire place had a very quiet feel. Lots of older couples or couple with young kids.

The food was good. The breakfast buffet was ok, could have done with a bit more variety. The Thai place is really good and authentic.

***

Nothing to do with the hotel but I had heard some horror stories about the airport, especially terminal 2. Was surprised to say the least to find a nice modern airport with no issues at all. It was busy, but perfectly fine.

Whoever designed this hotel deserves an award. It is very well laid out. The Hyatt has definately got it right! The staff are the most helpful, friendly, happy and polite that I have experienced in any other hotel. They go totally the extra mile to make sure you have a good holiday. The food is excellant and none of us had any tummy problems all week. We did have a few problems with the mosquitos but the hotel were constantly spraying so they did their best. I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: first floor room for sea view

Just returned from an absolutely wonderful week at the Hyatt Regency. The primary reason for our enjoyment was the staff, we have travelled extensively and can honestly say that this hotel has it right. Every single member of staff receives an A* from the four people in our party. They were so welcoming and helpful and seemed to genuinely care that we were happy and had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. Added to this extremely important element, the hotel itself is cleverly designed so that, although it is very big, it took only a few minutes to get to any of the venues or pools. Food very good, plentiful and well presented. All in all fabulous! So much so that we will be going back for another week later in the year. Thank you Hyatt, it just goes to show it CAN be done with the right management and training.

Room Tip: It is worth paying a little extra for the 'club' facility if you can, the rooms are lovely a...

When we arrived at this hotel, we were blown away. It is beautiful and definitely 5 star standard. Before we checked our room, we asked for upgrade prices for a Regency Club room and also for a Suite. The Regency Club upgrade on its own wasn’t good value but conversely, the Suite was and included access to the Regency Club. We upgraded to the Suite (the price they gave was much better than Thomas Cook price at home) and we went to our very spacious below ground floor suite. It was fabulous. However, I didn’t sleep very well that night as I could see and hear mosquitoes in the room. The next day, we noticed that we all had (4 of us) a few mosquito bites on our arms and hands but my 8 year old had acquired 14 on her face. We went to the on-site clinic as we were unsure what it was. We couldn’t remember her ever being bitten before. They confirmed it was mosquito bites. Gradually over the next few days, we were all bitten several times more. Most nights, I would swat several of them, the hotel staff was spraying our room, we had plug-ins and were using spray ourselves but nothing would deter them. It was becoming so unpleasant (we had 50 - 100 bites between us after 3 days) that we asked the Regency Club to move us to a higher room in the main hotel. They moved us to a Junior Suite on the highest floor in the main hotel (no discount offered) and nobody was bitten again. I don’t know whether this was because we were in a higher room, the mosquitoes had gone off us or had gone away. Our other family members who were staying on a high floor in the main hotel were also bitten but not to the extent that we had been. A lot of people in the hotel seemed to have bites. We have been to Sharm at this time of year before at a different hotel and didn’t see a mosquito so I’m not sure what happened here. The hotel work very hard to sort the problem by using big mosquito blasters morning and night but unfortunately mosquitoes did blight the holiday which is a shame because it is a fabulous hotel.
The hotel has got everything .The beach is lovely with a lovely beach restaurant. The staff are wonderful; absolutely nothing is too much trouble. A water slide, which was great for the kids and a lazy river. We took a teenager with us and he wasn’t bored. The Souk in the evening was excellent with authentic dancing and something on every evening. The food outlets give lots of choice (although my 8 year old was sick and husband poorly one night after both eating at the ‘Wok’). There is a piano bar for after dinner. The hotel usually goes quiet at about 10pm but we were expecting this and didn’t bother us. This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. We think it has more about it for families than the Four Seasons in Sharm but the mosquito problem has put us off ever staying there again.

Room Tip: Avoid lower floors because of mosquitoes
