When you visit the Hotel make sure you go to the Stars bar lounge and reception Great cocktail!!! Say hello to Hany - he was always very friendly and helpful and made you feel most welcome! Cascades restaurant is a must - the restaurant manager is very proud of his restaurant and made every effort to ensure excellent service - very attentive to all customers! We will definitely be revisiting the Hyatt Regency in Sharm later on in the year!!!Regards Nick St. John

Room Tip: Sea front is a must!!!!

I'd checked out of the Rixos to come to the Hyatt Regency mainly because of a lack of hot water there. Not an issue during the summer months but during a wet cool March its important. Of course the Hyatt's water was piping hot. My room was on the beach front and so the verandah moments were made all the more special by the two Hoopoe's nesting in the roof eves. Wandering upward to the hotel restaurant is made a pleasure by the well contoured and manicured paths that weave their way past the countless pools (and one waterfall). An early morning dive off the pontoon into the coral fringed sea was sheer heaven. The food was excellent, evening entertainment tasteful (not blaring) and the staff exemplary, polished and rightly proud of their hotel. I like the thought of this hotel being there, looked after, tranquil enough for the Hoopoe's to nest. I'll be back.

Room Tip: Sea front if you can but the rooms are tiered in such a way that most have sea views?

My wife and I stayed for a week in a club room with sea view. Spent all our time using the club facilities. Though the only dress code specification in the literature for the hotel is for smart casual (no mention of smart shorts being acceptable) at the Thai restaurant. No dress code specified on the web or prior to booking or available in the room for the club, so only having taken smart shorts and shirts for a night getting stopped by staff stating I needed long trousers was embarrassing. If this is the case the hotel needs to make it perfectly clear, ie smart casual required for the Thai and Club areas on an evening (no shorts allowed). If this was the case I would have taken some. Apart from that I have no complaints about the hotel at all, it's fantastic.

The hotel offers only bed and breakfast or half board. We decided to book half board although for vegetarians it is very difficult to justify the costs of either half or full board as its impossible to eat the cost that this adds and only on one night did they have a vegetarian main dish after we complained and that was pasta with tomato sauce for the rest of the time we ate side dishes.
We had pre-booked a hotel car to collect us from the airport and this worked very well and was a lovely start to the holiday.
We booked a sea front double room but on arrival were given a twin room, although they did show us double bed options the rooms were not as good. We took the twin room and they made the bed up to one large one.
The room had lots of storage, black out curtains, sockets, iPod connections, TV, kettle, iron and board etc. The bathroom had a bath and a separate shower and had plenty of work surfaces to keep all your toiletries etc.
On the first night at the Fresco restaurant we were horrified at the stark choice of food and even more horrified at the lack of anything vegetarian to eat. It was a disappointing start to the holiday and started a few days of discussions with the various chefs and management. We finally started to eat at the Thai restaurant as they had a good vegetarian menu. The Souk area was even worse for vegetarians and we only ate there once in two weeks. If you are a vegetarian beware that the Egyptian chefs like to put chicken stock in everything “to make it taste better”. The restaurant was very responsive and finally started to label the dishes with a vegetarian label. The Souk did not take this on. (I would be interested to hear from future guests if they are continuing to do this). If you have nut allergies it would be unwise to travel here as again there is nothing to say which dish contains nuts although it is a safe assumption that many do! Goodness knows what the deserts might contain!!
All the restaurant staff are extremely friendly and helpful and although they don’t really understand food separation or vegetarian food they did keep trying. The head chef was European so always difficult to understand how he doesn’t understand and also how he can let his staff add chicken stock to what we would normally expect to be safe to eat as vegetarians such as tomato and basil soup and steamed rice.
Breakfast was a buffet and had plenty of choice so no problems there.
We were given an upgrade to use the Regency Club facilities which helped ease the pain of the first few days but interestingly enough even they did not have vegetarian options available although they did insist on cooking up plates of steamed vegetables for us which missed the point of the evening hors d'oeuvres but they were trying very hard. The private beach was lovely and you get the sun beds with cushions. The beach staff look after you very well.
There is a free hotel shuttle bus into Naama Bay three times a day but we discovered that you can take the bus taxi from the main road for a fraction of the cost and will drop you off outside the hotel gates for a small extra payment i.e. 50pence. Otherwise there are always taxis sitting outside the gates.
The room was always well cleaned and maintained although we did have to ask for extra shower gel sometimes but otherwise it was constantly topped up with water and tea bags.
There are Russians at the hotel but as the hotel does not offer AI they are not quite so rowdy although they are still loud, take too much food and don’t know the meaning of orderly queues or good manners!
There are various gym activities throughout the day although we only did the 0930 yoga. The staff did not make any effort to encourage people to attend classes so it was usually just me and my husband.
Wifi was available in the lobby area for free and you could purchase wifi for the room. We hired a unit from Sharm Solutions which worked perfectly all of the time.
There is a dive centre on site run mostly by Russian women. The one time I went for a dive the girl dive master taking the group was in a bad mood due to the group being large and just stood there sullenly unwilling to help her paying clients. My husband would have dived more often but did not feel happy with either their attitude or the fact that the costs have gone up by 40% since last year.
The concierge can arrange anything you need so always worth checking with him first.
A word of warning I bought a postcard and stamp just before departing and I was totally ripped off as he charged £1.50 and although not 100% I think he gave me an old stamp so I will be surprised if it ever arrives!! This was from the gift come grocery shop on the hotel premises. I did tell the reception but they didn’t really want to know but did say you can get cards and stamps from the Concierge. We did not buy from any of the other shops on site so cannot speak for them.

The hotel was lovely and very restful place to stay.

Room Tip: high floor, sea view

This was our 5th holiday at this hotel and included nine family members ranging from 11 to 75!
Beautifully located and the service excellent and very friendly, as usual. The pool butler at the Lazy River, Taufik, is always looking for ways to make our stay exceptional. He is very friendly, courteous and caring.
It has 5 restaurants and the Souk an area with multiple kitchens. The system is that you are given a bag of coins which you then use at any of the kitchens. Excellent fish at one and also a very good Indian kitchen recently introduced.
