“An absolute disgrace”
Reviewed 11 August 2006

We were supposed to be staying in the Star hotel but due to it being closed when we arrived 22nd July, we were put into this sister hotel. The advert for the Enternainment centre of Sharm is missleading and inaccurate. At times we were the only people around the pools and food was awful.
Food handling and food preperation left much to be desired and the Rep was usless. The hotel staff spoke very little English and it was very difficult ot get problems sorted out. Drinks were very expensive and higher than places such as the Shereton Hotel which was a "true 5 Star hotel" Reception consisted of three or four desks in a line and the experience of this hotel would leave me to advise avoid it like the plague.

The lazy river advertised was closed and the water was smelly and dirty. Nothing to do for kids at all. No evening entertainment

If you want a hotel which has few guests, only one bar open, plenty of space around the pool, no atmosphere, very poor food, high drinks cost and no entertainment at all, You have just found it.

Initially my friend and I tried to make the best of our holiday: the hotel was very quiet (20% occupancy in the first week of August); the staff were friendly (constantly interrupting and badgering), the drinks and snacks at lunchtime were very expensive etc, etc. When I had a distressing incident with the actual manager of the 'Tranquilty Spa' which resulted in a sexual assault, I thought that this would be the opportunity for the hotel and and management to redeem themselves. I was sadly mistaken. The hotel offered no support or advice and at first didn't even believe that the incident had happened. The hotel management did not want to deal with me, could barely speak English, would offer no compensation and in fact requested that I pay for the massage I didn't have at the Spa! Up to the moment we left it seemed that they were trying to squeeze money out of us. I don't know how they would have dealth with me had I been a man, but I know that as two young women, we were treated rudely and with contempt. Don't take a chance on this hotel.

I can honestly say that this hotel is one of the worst places i have ever stayed in. For information purposes this hotel is 1 of a 3 hotel complex (Sun, Star & Moon) part of the Raouf chain.

There was no entertainment as described because there were only about 10 people staying in all the hotels, from Sharm Airport it is a 20 minute ride in a taxi the other way from Nama Bay. This means that it is a taxi ride into Nama if you want any entertainment. If you are good at negotiating you may get a cheaper price on a taxi than the £12 return price we had to pay each night. (Bear this in mind when weighing up the cost of your hotels).

The service was extremely poor and not what i expected from a hotel that classes itself as a 4 -5 star. In fact i struggle to see where it would get a 4 star status at all.

Food was not of a high standard (all buffet meals) and drinks were pricey.

For various reasons i had to relocate to another hotel for the last night which was within Nama itself and wished we had stayed there all week. It was clean tidy modern and the people were friendly.

Be warned the Raouf hotels are very bad!!

- Very bad food ( the same every day)
-More staff than guests
-Only men are working in Egypt, so be aware that you will be surrounded by men only and if you are young single girl dont go to egypt especially this particular hotel as its totally empty
-rooms have no balcony almost in the whole hotel, so you can not relax at the balcony and enjoy the view.
-sea is very shallow good for little kids not for adults, and forget about diving
-Be careful and dont get sick as the doctor costs 50Euro in the hotel.( take some medicine for food poison and sun burns)
-Taxis to the closest city may range from 30-40 pounds ( egyptian) Dont pay more that. Locals pay 1 pound for the bus to Nama Bay.
me and my mom stayed in that hotel and were very unhappy and dissapointed with this holiday, my friend was staying in the intercontinental and it was like another world so much better than ours, so it is better to pay a little bit more because the difference was incredible. In raolf there was no entertainment, discos were empty so were all the bars.
It appaered to me that the owners and managers are careless about those hotels! The term customer satisfaction has never been tought there....

I could have reviewed this hotel as "O.K. BUT SOME PROBLEMS" The fact is THERE WAS LOTS OF PROBLEMS, We spent the christmass and the new year there. The last posted review stated "THE DECORATIONS HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN DOWN"....DOWN? THEY NEVER HAD ANY UP!! Unless he meant the three inflatable Santa`s outside and the one tableu in reception,
RECEPTION ? atkin to desks in a village hall, manned by a bunch of good intentioned but incopetent people, whe did not give the requested early alarm call that could have resulted in a missed homeward flight.
I do not wish to echo all the bad pionts previous
residents posted, THE DIRTY LAZY RIVER, ETC ,lack of facilities one would expect of a "FIVE" star hotel.
I have traveled all over the world and to describe the Raouf Sun as a "THREE" star would be a kindness.
On reflection we wish we had requested , LIKE SEVERAL OTHER RESIDENTS, to be moved to a better hotel.
Take my advice , AVIOD THIS ONE LIKE THE PLAGUE.
I am writing to MED-HOLLS today(24TH JAN)to complain
and ask why they are still, in light of all the negative feedback, still promoting ........

Our first time in Sharm. We (a family of four) stayed here for 7 days on half board - Yes there was only one buffet restaurant but we found it fine - the kids enjoyed it and there was variety but more like 3 star than 5. We used the hotel as a cheap base to go on the amazing excersions and for relaxing Sun- and were not disappointed. It is bright and clean - the rooms are a good point but ask for a sea view. There werent that many people which meant no queues and more friendly atmosphere. The staff were great. There is a spa/health place which was also fine.

I do wonder why there were still xmas decorations up on 15 Jan and why we werent allowed Tea making facilities in the rooms - getting supplies meant popping to an adjacent hotel as most of the facilities in Sun were closed(no shops, other restaurants, etc). Although be prepared as once you go to an adjacent hotel you realise what you are missing !!!

In short - its not the end of the world if you go here - if you have already booked to go here (for good price!!) dont worry and let it spoil your holiday.

Raouf complex consists of Sun, Moon and Star hotels altogether with one main swimming pool in the center which all the hotels use rated 5* more like 3* with poor service to match, food breakfast OK good choice thats if you can attract the coffee mans attention to come to you and fill your cup! evening meal is very often repeated several time a week and reheated as a special treat one day we had 4 inch crabs must have been a nail full of meat inside (what a waste!) if you have children you may have to make one or two trips to Naaama Bay as there is nothing at all for kids I am no a chip fan but we didn,t get any chips offered in 2 weeks.
NO rooms have a balcony and if you do not get a room on the pool side of the Sun hotel you will not see the sun from morning to night. No facilities open Kids Club closed but we did get offered the key if we wanted to open and use unsupervised although they couldn,t find it when asked! The beach is fabulous at the hotel but the is no entertainment at all, unless you travel into Naama Bay this is a small busy resort open till 3 in the morning but very poor beachs. (A FREE bus is advertised 15 seats if it arrives must book in advance you will always find unavailabe!) Hotels taxis will always try to rip you off double do not use, get one outside hotel and agree price first normaly 50 Egyption pounds (£5).
The cleaners (all male) do a superb job and work 12hour days none stop, The lazy river as advertised to us is smelly and disgustingly filthy with all the pain dropping off, although this is a relativley new resort the hotels need a lot spending on them to make well needed improvements the position is right on the beach but the surrounding area is one massive bulding site with lorrys flying around from morning to night.
If you would like more information or photos of resort and hotels in the Raouf Complex please email at address with this reveiw.

Unfortinatly all the photos is faked , it is for the hotels in construction phase in the area.
Raouf Hotels , the sun , the moon and the stars , are note the same shape at all. they were built as on hotel base , which is consists of 280 rooms and above.
the street at the back of the hotels in sharm el sheikh is leading to the beach area , and not the beach as theis gentlman claim.
sharm el sheikh beaches are very beautiful, if there is a possibility to attach some photos of raouf hotels, i would have shown you the hotel structure and the beach.
