“2nd visit - even better than last year.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2011

We returned from the Sierra on Tuesday morning. We stayed for 2 weeks and this is our 2nd visit, we booked it straight after our holiday last year. Suffice to say we would undoubtedly recommend this hotel to anybody who is thinking of holidaying in Sharm. We were a party of 6 adults with a teenager and when we arrived at the Sierra on 25th July, it was like going home. The staff in the hotel recognised us immediatley and the welcome we recieved was lovely. Value for money for us is the most important factor in booking our annual holiday as it is for many families. This hotel and the resort offer this hands down without cutting corners either. The rooms are spacious and well equipped and the setting and grounds are beautiful. The restaurant offers a wide choice of food, some is excellent and some isn't but the hotel caters for many nationalities and this has to be taken into consideration. The pool area is wonderful especially the pool bar. We visited the beach a couple of times using the shuttle bus which is well worth it as the breeze down there is gorgeous and obviously the fish are amazing to watch. Soho square which is directly behind the hotel is good and offers a nice range of shops and restaurants, there were some new ones this year which was nice to see. We dined in the Entrecote steak house on the square one night where Sierra guests receive 35% discount, the steak was to die for and for a starter and a main course it worked out to be approx £17 each. The Queen Vic pub offers fish and chips from 6pm every night and that is approx £3. It's not cod or haddock but it's not a bad attempt. The entertainment in the hotel has improved from last year which indicates that the hotel management have acted on feedback from last year as it was really lacking. The Animation Team were excellent especially Mathew who really puts a spark into everything and is up for a laugh -thanks for dragging me up to do the quiz Matty - I really loved it in the end! Theres something on for the younger children every night too which is nice just before bedtime for them and the parents. We cannot commend the staff in the hotel enough either. They are genuinley helpful and friendly and really funny - especially Louis the bar supervisor/manager who made sure we were happy and taken care of. He is popular with the guests and is upfront and efficient, my type of person. The customer relations are also excellent - Rebecca who is from Birmingham made us feel even more at home and her knowledge of Egypt and Sharm was invaluable when we needed advice and recomendations. All in all we had annother excellent time and were gutted to have to leave. If you are thinking of the Sierra for your holiday then all I can say is book it. The bad reviews on here do not reflect the hotel in my opinion and we experienced nothing but positive while we we there.

Stayed here twice last year and returned again this year in July. (Room 6575) Everything was as expected if not better!
1st class service, a great "Welcome back" greeting from all the staff who remembered us. Staff are sooo friendly and will do anything to make it the best stay at the Sierra. In particular Hanny (Manager), Mina (Pool guy), Botros (Pool bar), Abdullah (Fountain Bar), and the guest relations team.
Food is varied and has a different theme night every night, British, Italian, Oriental, Russian etc.
Soho Square is literally on the doorstep where there is plenty of entertainment, shops, restaurants etc. A discount in the restaurants is available for Sierra guests...Indian (Bombay) and Steak house are fantastic with excellent service too.
The all inclusive is also available in 2 bars in Soho Square, the Fountain bar and the Queen Vic for Sierra guests.
Rooms are very comfortable and clean and spacious. We had clean towels AND bedding every day with the extra luxury of bath robes and slippers!
The pools are amazing with swim up bars and entertainment from the animation team.
This was my 6th visit to Egypt (3 times at Sierra) and is the best hotel to stay in by far and I can't wait to return.

Just got back and this is our first ever review.
On arrival we were offered a room upgrade at a fee, but asked to see both rooms first,
our original room was in the part undergoing refurbishment and felt that it had that unfinished complex feeling, (closed pool, furniture laying around, open rooms under going refurbishment) With a patio looking onto security fencing and access gates. We were then shown the upgrade with a nice pool view and a £186 fee. Whilst in the process of upgrading we were lucky enough to meet the Thomascook rep who arranged for our upgrade fee to be returned and allocation of a better located standard room within the complex. Not a good start.
Food is ok. Repeated on a weekly basis, snacks around pool area ok but much better from the beach snack bar.
Egyptian staff good but let down by Animation Team.
The Animation team here are by far the worst we've come across in over 16years of travelling all over the world. They are unable to deviate from set program or judge thier guests requirements. Music is blasted out at a level that makes conversation impossible during working hours. At one stage when asked if it could be turned down I was told that it was requested to be that loud and carried on with her solo yoga session that no one was interested in. A quick look around would have shown that everyone there was trying to relax in the quiet next to the sea. Cocktail games on the beach involved much shouting into the microphone again at full volume for the few guest interested. This could be heard as far a way as the beach pontoon (furthest places to escape too)
Right next door to the Sierra is a major Hotel build if unlucky your balcony will look out onto a building site no more than 10m away or you can go to the beach and watch the plant in operation from your lounger, don't worry about noise from plant machinery as it will be drowned out by Animation team,
Would we go back? no thank you.

Another great time at the Sierra......have written several reports since the hols but problem with the computer before I submitted them...so here goes for another time!!!
Although there was some building work going on...another new pool (7)and room renovations..you were not aware as the area was screened off and work done with the minimum of noise......some people were totally unaware of any reconstruction!!
Anyway we all had a good time...weather great...all the staff... from gardeners ,cleaners, pool staff ,bar staff,resaurantstaff.. not to mention concierge, reception and guest relations who were once again super helpful ..especially with the birthday surprise!..... Everyone was friendly, courteous, relaxed and professional.....still a home from home!!
It was just a shame that not many people are travelling to egypt at the moment because of the "troubles" but there is nothing to be frightened of.......security still in place and Soho Square Sharm is the holiday resort to be.
We had two young nephews with us this time and did the desert quad bikes....brilliant!!!
I have no hesitaion in recommending this Hotel......in fact several friends have booked on our recommendation and each one has said what a fabulous place it is and what a good time they had.
By the way I can recommend Christmas and New Year.........though it does seem different .. 28C in the sun on Christmas day.!!!!
We are going back in August...just booked...can't wait to get to our "Home from home"

We are an english couple early 20's.
The staff were superb very friendly and could not do enough for you.
Rooms are clean and cleaners will provide anything you wish within reason (providing a tip is given).
The pools are clean and look just like the photographs.
Food is average/poor soft drinks are good alchol is average/poor.
The restuarants and bars which you can go in are good namely the queen vic and the steak house (very reasonable prices) above which was one of the best meals me and my partner have had and we have eaten in many place around the world and you get 35% discount in all the restuarants that the sierra includes and 50% and the savoy restuarants. Dont go the fontaga bar I think its called that the service is terrible to put it politely when they release your from sierra.

Overall the hotel is wearth every penny and you feel very welcome i would recommend people to go who can not afford the savoy and is probably in the best part of sharm el sheikh as narma bay you get too hastled and nabq bay is too quite but its personal preference.

We stayed here in January, the hotel is nice, clean and the staff are friendly. The pool does get very crowded as can the dining area. We went all inclusive which was fab for drinks, breakfast and lunches. The evening meals were lovely but we chose to dine out quite a few nights. The location is fantastic, just off SOHO square so some nice bars, clubs and eateries. Our all inclusive covered happy hour at a neibouring pub called the queen Vic in SOHO square which is lovely! The sierra beach is shared with the beach at the Savoy hotel with a frequent mini bus to take you down or a short walk if you can hack the heat!! The beach is lovely, great for snorkelling but can get really busy and the animation team can be a bit loud which is great if you want to join in but if you want to chill it isn't so great! All in all its a nice hotel, nice staff and food. I would recommend if you are after a nice all inclusive experience but I don't think I would be back.
