“Don,t go to this hotel at the moment !”
Reviewed 8 November 2012

Dear oh Dear...what has happened to this hotel.Just returned from our 3 rd visit, the first two being excellent as I have posted on here but this time was a major letdown.I would not advise anyone to go this hotel just now. There has been a change of management and a lot of the staff have left. The standards have dropped dramatically. When we arrived there was no safe in the room and it took 3 days to get one. Repeated visits to reception but all we got were promises.
Also as a returning guest you are supposed to get a bottle of water in you room everyday. It was 4 days before we got one and then no more again !Reception staff were inadequate !
We were mortified to find the corridor near our room littered with COCKROACHES and woke up one morning to find one in our room. This is UNACCEPTABLE and told reception but nothing happened.
The dining room is disorganized and has become more of a canteen.Food is ok but seems to be lesser choice. We spoke to many returning guests and they also indicated that the hotel had gone downhill fast.We did not find one repeat guest who would return !
Thomson and Thomas Cook need to put pressure on this hotel quickly to get standards back up to where they were. But I fear Thomson might pull out of this property. It is a shame because we loved this hotel but the reality is...don't go here.It is past its sell by date and needs a complete makeover. We would like to return some day but only when we see that something has been done but in the meantime we will now look at other hotels.

we stayed here in January 2011 and we did enjoy it, although it was obvious the hotel is rather run down, the room was ok but well used with little effort on upkeep, the air conditioning was like an asmatic blowing through a straw.
the animation team work really hard with activities throughout the day and putting shows on at night, the guests are mostley british, the cougar club were in full effect, sometimes quite blattant about sharing tips on their favorite waiter & advising each other on best practise and what they got up to, at times it seemed the resort was an all inclusive with all the benifits that weren't in the brochure.
Food was good though with more than enough choice, and the quality was up there with some of the better places.

Just got back from one week stay at this hotel. The reception staff on arrival were pleasant enough, however, when requesting anything thereafter they were less enthusiastic! The room was spacious but not very clean...there were dead flies in one corner that remained there all week....there was no light in the shower and it took a day to have the bulb changed so had to shower in friend's room on first day! When the light was fixed we could not lift the knob to get the shower working...it needed a man's strong hand to do it. The bath towels were tiny...especially if you are 6ft like me. Food was left out in hallway for several days and was only moved after we complained..the McDonald 's bag was still there when we left! The bathroom was fumigated on our last day and two massive cockroaches scuttled around the room...not good.
The food was pretty poor and we have had better at other hotels of same star rating in Sharm. Breakfast was ok and if you liked chips and bread you we're ok for lunch....dinner was a different matter. We all came home with Pharoah's revenge...upset tummies!
The quiet pool was pleasant although not always quiet! The staff try their best but there are not enough of them and they don't seem experienced.
We went on the hotel's Sunset cruise which advertises 45 mins snorkelling and sunset. We snorkelled for only 15 mins and then were told to get back on the boat or we would miss the sunset! The sunset was amazing but then we spent over an hour cruising around in the dark before coming back to the harbour where it took another hour of waiting to get a space for he boat! We did complain at the hotel and got a discount...it costs £20 and is a waste of money.
We spoke to many guests who have been back to the hotel several times, some 8 times but all have said they would not go back as since the new owners it has declined.
There were lots of mosquitoes too which we have not experienced to this extent in Sharm before. Take plenty of jungle formula!
We are going back to Sharm next year but will be staying somewhere else!

We stayed here for one week 26/10-2/11.

When we arrived we were in our room within 10 minutes and the room was clean. Restaurant was still open for us, so the arrival went fine.

Staff was very friendly, especially the guys at the restaurants. Food was good, we also went to Nathan's twice, prices are very low and nice food, relaxed dining with a view on the pool.

We visited the Spa, the guy who sells the threatments is a bit pushy but not too much. The Spa was good by the way.

Reception helped us mailing a parcell by local DHL to a friend who lives in Cairo and had my pants dry-cleaned, everything ok.

People at the shops in the hotel were very kind, not pushy.

Didn't see any real downsides, the hotel could use an update, but all together is worth a 3* with excellent staff. The buildings are nice, the pools are too.

To counter some things in previous reviews:

I had loads of vegetables every day, not a single problem with the tummy... if you get sick, the reason is the heat, not drinking enough water, too much alcohol, eating too much and staying in the sun too long, nothing else. Temperature was up to 38°C sometimes, so if there would have been a problem with bacteria, 90% of the guests would be sick.

The staff is cleaning all the time! If some sort of insects would turn up, it has nothing to do with the staff not paying attention to it, but with the climate which is perfect for several insect species to multiply (on the last day, there were some insects trying to enter a room and staff took care of it immediately).

So a nice stay and I would reconsider this hotel!

PS: if you want some things to eat and drink in your fridge, take the shuttle bus to Naama Bay and shop at Carrefour, they sell at "normal" Egyptian prices which are about 50-60% less compared to the shops in hotels or next to hotels.

Room Tip: Ask a room next to the quiet pool.
