Stayed at this hotel after being told by thomsons it was a 4 star when really a 3 star, I would give it a 2 at the most! We lasted 2 days and ended up paying another £400 to move to a star 5 as couldn't stay there any longer! Room was awful, bathroom very dirty, fridge mouldy, no safe! The whole hotel in general disgusting and old fashioned! The beach which was a 20 min bus ride was more like a dirty quarry with rubbish everywhere on the way in! Stayed at the beach about 2 minutes before getting bus straight back. Hotel is in serious need of refurbishment!! Ruined the first few days of our holiday thank god we were able to move!! Tho the staff on the bars and restaurant are lovely people and work really hard and also the food was not to bad. So a shame about the rest! Would not go back to this hotel ever!!! It's definitely an xperience that's for sure!! Horrendous!!!

Just returned from a one weeks stay at the St george Hotel and have to say that I was very impressed with the holiday. The Hotel is a very good three star that does exactly what it says on the tin. The room I had, 1082 was very large, and quiet with all necessary facilities and a large and clean bathroom with a shower and hairdryer. Air con was fab and individually controlled. The food at this property was lovely, very well presented and good quality produce and I would defy everyone to not find something they liked at every sitting. The bar staff were great and never had to wait too long to be served and there was water coolers and tea and coffee available as self service all day.
The 2 pools are lovely and very clean. The main pool was very busy and had music on for most of the day. The entertainment was okay, usual water based activities through the day and a good mix of evening acts and of course the kids mini disco.
The only negatives as previously mentioned in some reports were the people who kept coming round the pool asking about the spa, henna tattoos, diving etc, every day.
All in all though a very enjoyable stay...would I go again ....absolutely no question.

We've just returned from 2 weeks at this hotel and I have to say that it wasnt as bad as I was expecting it to be, after reading the reviews on here before we went. However, there are definite improvements needed.

First off, I'd like to thank Michael Aziz at the hotel for sorting out an upgrade for us. I emailed the hotel before we left and requested an upgrade to a family room overlooking the pool. Michael advised that this would be at a charge of £68 GBP. I agreed to this (Thomson wanted to charge £1200!!!) and, true to his word, we received a large family room with patio leading to the pool. Thank you Michael!

We arrived at the hotel about 9.30pm and were shown to our room. The restaurant was closed but reception advised us that it would be reopened at 10pm for us. There wasnt much choice when it did open but that was to be expected, and what was served, was nice.

The room was very large with a king size bed, a double bed and a sofa bed. The bathroom was in need of some repair - towel ring hanging off the wall and handle in the shower was loose and kept falling off! The sink was blocked too but we managed to live with these things.

We spent the first few days around the activity pool. We were hassled by numerous people trying to sell us things. The massage guy who feels your hand and tells you that you have a bad back etc (he tells everybody the same thing!), a guy who does tattoos in the hotel, somebody from the A La Carte restaurant who wanted us to book (this restaurant is not all inclusive), a beautician who will thread one of your eyebrows and then leave the other one so that you will hopefully pay him to do the other (!), a hairdresser, a guy who wanted us to go on a diving trip etc. Every day we told them we werent interested but they still came back for more.

We therefore decided to try the quiet pool, this was much better. No loud music or pool games, and not as much hassle as the other pool. However, one of the pool guys took 'quiet' to a whole new level! Anybody who raised their voice even a little bit was told 'ssshhh', children were told off for playing harmlessly with a ball in the pool etc. It was lovely though if you wanted to lie and read your book in peace without the screaming, splashing and music of the other pool.

The pool bars serve drinks out of plastic cups, which is understandable. However, the plastic cups seemed to get smaller as the 2 weeks went on. We ended up drinking 'shots' of beer! They will serve you 2 or 3 at the same time though, and if you take a large cup or plastic glass, they will fill this up for you no problem.

The lobby bar also sometimes served drinks in plastic glasses at night. I didn't like this at all, if you are sitting inside the bar, why the need for plastic? Occassionally we did get glass but most of the time it was plastic.

We took the bus to the beach one day and it was fine. you have to book it in the morning with the concierge and the free shuttle bus runs every half an hour until lunchtime. The beach is shail and is quite sharp on your feet, so take some beach shoes. The bus coming back is not bookable and again is every half an hour but from 3pm. We went for the 3pm bus but it was full so we ended up hanging around for half an hour for the next one (which also filled up as soon as it arrived so some people had to wait even longer).

The hotel has a big problem with flies and also mosquitos. We used mosquito spray, Jungle formula, took B1 tablets and also had plug in's in the room and still got bitten. Some people were literally covered in bites. 1 poor lady was bitten so bad on her feet and ankles that she ended up on crutches and had to go home early. We have been to Egypt a few times and never had a problem with mozzies like we had at this hotel. They do have a smoke machine to kill them off but we only saw this used 3 times in 2 weeks. The hotel shop do sell 'Off' spray and also Raid room spray but they kept selling out as so many people were buying it. We literally used 1 can of spray a night between the 3 of us.

A couple of mornings we also woke up to cockroaches in our room. Only 1 or 2 but again, I have never come across this problem in other hotels in Sharm. Food and takeaway boxes are left in the corridors for days, which obviously attracts insects. The hotel need to look at these problems.

The food was ok. It wasnt wonderful but it wasnt terrible either. It was all well cooked and none of us were ill at all during our stay. We didnt hear of anybody else being ill either. Lots of people were ordering takeaway, and we also ate out a few times whilst we were there.

We met some lovely people whilst we were there, and had such a good laugh by the pool and on a night in the lobby bar. Without them, I have to say that I would have been pining for home after the first few nights! They introduced us to their good friend 'Rose' and many a hangover was had from that point onward ;-)

Most of the staff here are lovely and work really hard and really long hours. The hotel is in desperate need of a lick of paint (especially around the pool areas), and a general refurbishment. The management also need to look at the problems with insects.

All in all, this wasnt the best hotel I've stayed in, but it wasnt the worst either. A holiday is what you make of it. The rooms are clean, the pools are clean, the food is ok and the weather is beautiful. The biggest issue for me was the mosquitos.

I'm happy to answer any questions or give more info if anybody wants it.

Our first visit to this hotel. As we arrived later than expected - 6 hour delay at Gatwick! we were
offered a snack and drinks in the main restaurant even though it was midnight. Staff very welcoming. Nice large room with fridge with a bottle of water included. You need to top up your water bottles frequently at the water fountains around the hotel - would be nice if there was one in the hotel corridors. Every where was clean, the walkways were washed down every day by the staff. Free shuttle bus to the beach - not pleasant for snorkeling as it is part of the marina. Swimming area is roped off but outside is quite busy with boats and submarines, apparently around the corner is better. As we scuba dive the hotel was our base for breakfast and evening meals. Diving was superb but no sharks, where have they gone? We have our suspicions.
We had a meal '@ Nathans - we asked for the set 3 course meal but was told this was on Mondays only 'I think'?? felt it was a bit of a con as no mention of this on menu. The manager greeted us and asked if we had a reservation which was quite funny as no one was there the whole evening. The waiter tried to make us have steak (most expensive item on menu - about £15) We had a lovely meal of mushroom starter, grilled chicken and icecream to follow around
£7 each with free wine (I think this was from down stairs all inclusive) The all inclusive food was very good with lots to choose from, different themes each night. There was nightly entertainment with a kids program to start then magic, bing, singers, dancers etc.
Nice hotel, needs some up dating but clean, tidy and no funny tummy's and we had ice in our drinks and salad with most meals. Great holiday and plenty of sunshine.

this is a very good hotel and in no way am i running this place down.
value wise its a great choice, friendly staff are fantastic, very very clean place and the rooms are all on the large size.
so why not 5 out of five. the staff just seem to be holding back on the fun side and the common sense size. for example if you want a drink, it could be served to you in a variety of ever decreasing measures and plastic cups or at the grill for meat you really have to insist on a portion bigger than a childs. dont get me wrong there is plenty of food available, you just get the feeling that when a member of staff serves you they are instructed to only give the minimum and that just takes the edge off a 5/5.
the hotel position, if you want to walk out the door into a lively area, this is not the hotel for you. its a taxi to anywhere. the taxis are cheap if you dont let the drivers take advantage. old sharm 20el, naam bay 30el and soho square 80el. use them its a great experience.
the pools and the sunbeds are spotless clean and well maintained, lively or quiet pool.
the food is good, brealfast repetative, but everything available from toast to pancakes to cereal. dont expect bacon and sausage you will not get it.
lunch and evening meals, food is varied and you do get a choice, they tend to concentrate a little too much on pasta at the hot food section, where its prepared fresh to you liking, but if the idea is for themed nights and different countries food then pasta is not the worlds only food. dont miss out on the bbq on the terrace outside.
its sounds like im complaining, im not, this is a very good hotel and i would recomend it to friends and i enjoyed myself there, if i had not met an helpful couple the first night, i could have wasted a lot of time and money.
i hope this review is useful for the hotel.
