My husband & I spent 2 weeks at Nubian Island. We were looking a chilled & relaxing time & that is what we got.
Check in was very fast & we were shown to our room. Unfortunately we arrived too late for dinner & there wasn't many snacks available at the lobby bar so we went hungry.
Our room was conveniently located on the 2nd floor beside the quiet pool & beside the restaurant. The room was fine, it was cleaned every day & fresh towels left. The beds & pillows are very hard, you can request a topper. There is a fridge, free safe & TV with some good movie channels. There is no tea/coffee making facilities but you can request it. The air conditioning worked well.
There is great variety of food available at all meal times. On occasions we were brought a "special". This could be anything from prawn cocktail to chicken curry (very tasty) to fillet beef with mashed potato. Every couple of nights there is a bar-b-q with fresh kofta's & chicken. The staff at the restaurant were very friendly & we were very well looked after especially by Captain Mohammed. We only tried the Italian once which was lovely.
We spent our days lying at the quiet pool & occasionally went for a swim to see George at the swim up bar. He's a great guy, very funny & he would have your order ready before you would have climbed onto the seat. Ice cream, pastries & crisps are available here too. Mohammed at the pool is very helpful & accommodating, also anticipating our needs.
At night we generally sat outside at the pool chatting with folk we had met. The animation team tried their best to get us to join in to no avail. We did go to the beach party one night but not really worth the £10 per head. We also went to the Bedouin tent Egyptian night which again I didn't think was worth the money. Moustaffa at the lobby bar looked after our every need the nights he worked (& on the occasions he covered Georges lunch break at the swim up bar).
The hotel was sprayed each night in an attempt to reduce the mosquito population but my husband was bit badly on the 2nd night but not again after this.
We didn't go on any trips but did visit Soho square once. We used a hotel taxi - £17 return. Wi-fi is available for £20 for a week, a bit slow but cheaper than data roaming. I had a full body Egyptian massage at the spa which was good. The guys continually walk round the pool touting for business but aren't too pushy.
Overall we had a lovely time in a spotless hotel with very friendly, helpful staff who do all in their power to help you enjoy your holiday. We look forward to returning.

I have read all the reviews and was so excited about this holiday and hotel but unfortunately we were disappointed with our stay here. I know you can't please everyone but I thought for anyone else like ourselves might find this useful.

Good points

The hotel was lovely and clean and the rooms were great, flat screen tv with good movie channels (not something I would normally care about but unfortunately this holiday we seen more of the room than we would of liked), also we had a room on the ground floor next to the top pool which was great for jumping in to the room otherwise you would need to walk back into reception/lobby area for toilets. The hotel itself was beautiful and having the private beach and jetty to walk out to was great.

Bad points

The nightlife wasn't so great, there is only the lobby bar at night that you can use your all inclusive as strangely enough you can go into Nubian village but are not meant to be able to get drinks over there (although we did on occasion) and also the entertainment for the kids is over there which is a 2 minute walk but I find it strange that when you ask your all inclusive is not over there. You can go to the uptown pub which has better music and more of a night club feel but had to pay for drinks and we often found that we were the only ones in! The food choice also wasn't great, I am a fussy eater but found myself living off a good old chip butty every night! And even this caused me to be unwell for most of the holiday and spent half of the holiday in the room.

Be aware of the guy walking round the pool selling the trips, we had spoke to a couple who had paid for a trip and after paying realising he told them the wrong rate so when we booked with us he also tried this with us but then we also managed to get it £10 cheaper as we told him the shops across the road were cheaper.

We went into namma bay one night and went to the Hard Rock Cafe, which was lovely for food. The place itself was a nightmare as you couldn't walk down the street without being dragged in at every bar. We ordered our taxi through the hotel which was great as he gave us his phone number and we phoned him direct for pick up as there was a lot of taxis at the end of the night and we had heard that a few people had been ripped off so always agree the price before getting in, we were 150 Egyptian pounds for a return trip and the driver was very trusting and didn't take any money until the return trip.

If you are not enjoying the food and feel like a bit of home McDonald's deliver to the hotel, they were there within 30minutes and the food was still warm, prices were the same as home but much bigger portions!

Overall I think you get what you pay for and the staff are lovely, especially at the pool. If you are looking for a total relaxing holiday and are happy not to be bothered then this would be ideal.

We've just got back from a lovely week at Nubian Island.

The rooms were basic but were very clean and sufficient. Good points - mini fridge, good shower, very clean, lovely little balcony, TV. Bad points - no door between the toilet and the shower, not enough drawer or wardrobe space, very basic.

The food was varied each day and there was a large selection. The meal times were as expected, but breakfast finishes at 10am so we missed it once because we didn't realise. There were snacks such as pizza and burgers throughout the day but they were quite far away at the "noisy pool" so it wasn't worth the walk down, however, the pool bar also did crisps and ice cream.

Bars. The bars were very good and a quick service, however, during the entertainment on a night the bar was quite far away and although waiters were coming round they were few and far between.

Pools. The pools were lovely and clean. Each had a swim up pool bar. There was a quiet pool and a noisy pool. The noisy pool had activities such as aqua aerobics, darts, water polo etc, whereas the quiet pool had no activities but still a member of the animation team making sure everybody was happy and having a good time. The quiet pool was more a British pool whilst the noisy pool was predominantly Russians. I think this is because most of the block we were in (Next to the quiet pool) was British people. I had more fun at the noisy pool but it was quite a walk away from our room.

Entertainment. The animation team made the holiday. They were always full of energy and making sure everybody was having fun. They were constantly on the move and work really long hours but always there to entertain you! A big shout out to Billy, Michael, Kristi and Mizo for making our holiday fab! The night shows were always fun and the dances were great with everybody getting involved!

We had a Turkish bath and massage at the spa which was lovely, the only thing is it was a bit small so we couldn't have them done at the same time.

Overall - we had an amazing time at Nubian Island and I would definitely return in the future! There were a lot of Russians there and they are very rude but that is not the hotels fault.

Room Tip: We had room 557 which over looked the quiet pool, which was a lovely view!

Just returned from a 2 week stay at Nubian Island, and its safe to say we bith have major holiday blues!!
After a delayed journey, pulling up the main driveway to the hotel we knew we had picked the right place, stunning view from the outside - pictures do not do it justice!
Check in was very quick, we paid in advance for a bungalow which we were shown to immediately, as we arrived to the room we found two twin beds - not what we had paid for.. However as soon as the staff member who showed us to our room was notified, housekeeping turned up two minutes later to adapt the bed and we couldn't tell we were in twin beds pushed together!
A simple stone throw away from the 'quiet pool' which we stayed at during our time at the hotel. Cannot fault neither George the pool bar man or Mohammed the towel guy, always smiling and willing to have a chat and a laugh with you!
The main restaurant is lovely and it has a great choice of food, this was where we met Mohamed who will cater to your every need and will always be smiling and predicting what you want. The only downside to the restaurant is the Russians will push and shove and elbow there way in even if you are stood in a massive queue, if you're like us - stand your ground and fight for the serving spoon!
The lobby bar is where we went for our evening drinks and the guys behind the bar are a great laugh and will whip you up a random cocktail if you cannot make your mind up as to what to drink! The only negative about the pool is the guys trying to sell you massages and trips, they never seem to get the point that you wanted to be left alone until it got ton the point you ignored them or jumped in the pool to avoid them - you can get a do not disturb sign from the towel guy but there was an argument between the massage guys and the animation team as there will be one of them wandering around talking to guests which none of us English minded.
We only visited the Italian restaurant (which is part of the all inclusive) once and wished we had been more often! Big portions though so be aware as we both felt like we'd need rolling back to the hotel!!
If you're looking for a beach, this one isn't great. As the tide goes out your left with the dead coral which is sharp and ugly! Its also quite rocky so don't get your hopes up. One of us did enjoy snorkelling off the jetty and saw some beautiful fish so its definitley worth going and doing!
We did two excursions through Thomson - VIP cruise and the ultimate desert experience, both amazing and worth the money! If you get chance to you must go and do these - you will not be disappointed.
The animation team are great, the newbies Michael and Christie are great to chat to and you can guarantee to have a funny night if you go to the uptown pub for karaoke with the two of them.
We met some amazing British people and found ourselves spending most nights by the pool in a group - us English were taking a stand against the Russians. Thank you to all of you for making our holiday even more memorable!!
All in all an amazing holiday which we couldn't falter and we wouldn't change a thing!
Would definitely visit Shark El Sheikh again and even thought the hotel was amazing we would visit somewhere else due to the fact we always like to try somewhere new!
Thank you Nubian Island for a great two weeks!

Room Tip: We had a bungalow - 709 - 30 seconds from the pool and hotel, perfect spot!

Welcome - perfect after a long tiring journey
Room - very clean and well kept
Restaurant - excellent choice of many sorts of food in the main restaurant, catering staff willing to offer all sorts of dishes, waiters always good-natured and helpful
Pools - we loved the quiet pool as that's what we wanted, but the more active noisier pool was great for families and those with lots of energy. Plenty of sun-beds. Pool staff friendly, helpful & cheerful
Bars - both pool bar and internal bar staff were kind, helpful and gave good service. They actually appreciated me trying out a few faltering words of Arabic!
Resort generally - clean, well kept, beautiful shady gardens with a stream to walk by on your way to the lower pool & beach - I loved the cactus garden!
Staff - at all levels and in all areas they were kind, friendly and caring. They were not seeking tips but seemed to be genuinely ensuring that we had a great holiday. We could not have asked for any better attitude
Overall opinion - the managers of this resort seem to have really got it right, as my comments above show. We had a wonderful relaxing restoring holiday.
